The Academy of St. Louis provides astructured social skills curriculum, givingstudents the opportunity to role play andlearn appropriate responses to varied socialinteractions. Students at the Academy arechallenged academically to strive to reachtheir highest potential in all subject areas.

Customized LearningFor Student Success

The curriculum at the Academy inte-grates educational goals with functionaland social skills to build competency forstudents in their future lives.

A maximum of six students per class-room assures individual attention andlearning goals that are introduced in aphysically and emotionally safe environ-ment for each of the Academy’s students.Classrooms are spacious and bright, encouraging learning.Along with the core subjects—math, lan-guage arts, religion classes, science andsocial studies—students are taught fineand gross motor skills, social skills, andneuro/diversity to help them gain anunderstanding and appreciation for theirindividual strengths and capabilities.Students also enjoy many other enrichingclasses: art, golf, drama, computer skills, nutrition, music and physical education.Occupational, speech/language and physi-cal therapy are also available.

Service and educational field tripsthroughout the St. Louis area give hands-on experiences to enrich each child’s viewof life outside the classroom.

Learning Through Love and DedicationThe faculty and administration at the

Academy of St. Louis, develops studentcurriculum based upon individualstrengths and weaknesses. Their personaland professional dedication to that goalmakes the Academy the right choice forparents looking for an alternative to tradi-tional school settings.

Lukas Liquors on the Numerical Rating System for Wine...Some wine buyers get confused with the numerical rating system on wine. They see a wine with 88 points and

another wine with 91 points. In fairness, the numeric rating system is a recent phenomenon. Robert Parker, founder of the Wine Advocate, introduced the numerical point system of grading wines in the 1970's. The turn ofthe 21st century saw a surge by consumers in taking these scores more seriously in their purchases of wine.

The system to rate a wine is done with points, 50 to 100. You can relate this system to an A to F "grade." Ingeneral, a 85 to 90-point score on wine is considered "above average" to "good."90 to 95 points is "outstanding"and 95 to 100 points is "extraordinary." Where the rating system gets confusing is the person or organization thatis issuing the ratings. Everybody's taste is different.

It's up to you what magazine or critic you want to believe in. Most retailers tend to use the highest rating theycan find. They believe their customers will ignore who actually gave a wine their score. A real liquor store postsratings based on the credibility of the person, not because the score was high. Robert Parker with the WineAdvocate and Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar are the two best wine critics. They receive no endorsement money or advertising dollars fromother wineries. If you are ever in doubt about what wines to buy, Robert Parker says "ask the people that sell wine for a living."
