SNF Technology

R. STAHL Camera Systems is the solution provider of pressurized camera enclosure solutions featuring state-of-the-art SNF (sensor-controlled nitrogen filling) technology.

Compared to flameproof Ex d enclosures, the SNF technology offers a completely new type of protection: the enclosure is nitrogen-pressurized, and a pressure sensor permanently monitors the pressure inside the enclosure – a considerable advantage over conven-tional purging solutions.

R. STAHL cameras with SNF technology have been designed specifically for operation in hazardous areas,

and require little to no maintenance due to the fact that the enclosure needs to be pressurized only once with nitrogen (N2), thus providing guaranteed ingress protection from any hazardous materials in the surrounding atmosphere throughout the entire lifetime of the product.

Compared to standard Ex p solutions, cameras with SNF technology are filled with nitrogen during the manufacturing process, and fully sealed afterwards. Therefore, purging with inert gas or any other purging gases is not required. The pressure inside the enclosure is permanently monitored by Ex i pressure sensors and the Ex-PCB connection board.

Cameras with SNF technology are extremely lightweight, fully gas- and waterproof, and designed to withstand extreme temperatures. Due to the much lighter and compact enclosures such cameras ensure a much greater degree of flexibility when choosing a location for cameras.

Our product design ensures reliable, continuous 24/7 operation even at extreme ambient temperatures ranging between -40 °C and +75 °C.

Highest protection against ingress of dust, dirt and water

R. STAHL cameras made of 316 SST have an ingress protection rating of up to IP69K that guarantees reliable 24/7 operation even in the harshest environments; the high IP-rating protects the camera against ingress of sea-/saltwater, and various types of chemicals.

Available with an IP rating of up to IP69K, the units are fully waterproof and extremely lightweight; the sophisticated rugged design ensures reliable 24/7 long-term operation even at ambient temperatures ranging between -40 °C and +70 °C.

Explosion-proof surveillance solution

Fully Zone 1 hazardous area CCTV solution for up to 12 IP cameras using ISview standard video management software to display video images from the cameras on an R. STAHL HMI Panel PC. ISview provides a turnkey, custom-tailored software solution for applications in harsh and demanding environments.

Camera control is made easy thanks to large, individually confi-gurable touch screen buttons. The user-friendly software allows for easy and intuitive operation without prior training. Real-time video images from color cameras are continuously transmitted at a frame rate of up to 25 fps.

Hazardous & non-hazardous area surveillance solution

This CCTV solution is designed specifically for permanent video monitoring of all onshore/offshore drilling operations. The cameras provide an overall view of all critical areas, and thus help to improve safety and operational efficiency.

For enhanced facility security, the intelligent CCTV system sends proactive alerts in case of unauthorized access to restric-ted areas. Our OPEN CCTV SYSTEM allows for combination of hazardous and non-hazardous area equipment. Live video streaming with no delay is possible by using analogue video signals.


Crane Applications

In crane operations, continuous real-time video monitoring of all critical areas provides enhanced safety and efficiency benefits. R. STAHL's Control Box supports up up to 4 cameras, monitoring the load, the winch, and the surrounding areas.

The Ex-certified zoom camera is mounted on an oil-damped bracket that keeps the camera in a stable vertical position and eliminates vibration, thus giving the operator a detailed and clear view of the crane load.

CCTV System Solutions Chemical/Pharmaceutical Industries

With our small compact cameras that can withstand tempera-tures of up to +75 °C, we are a major supplier for fractionating columns and batch reactors.

The cameras enable staff to constantly monitor processes, especially at the start phase, in order to spot foam formation, for example. R. STAHL's stainless-steel sight glass bracket is perfectly fitted to the window's geometry.


Sight Glass Monitoring

Our sight glass mounted cameras can be connected to R. STAHL’s video surveillance management systems; live video images from the sight glass mounted, zoom, or pan/tilt cameras within the network can be monitored in the control room. The recor-ding technology allows you to efficiently find video footage of incidents, and reactively conduct process analyses and trouble-shooting.This video surveillance solution also provides enhanced safety in areas where gas and dust are the main explosive hazards. The cameras connect to the system using the existing interfaces, thus enabling live and recorded video to be integrated into CCTV or process control systems which are already installed.

ISview – video surveillance software for small-scale systems

ISview is standard video management software designed to display real-time video from IP cameras and video encoders using VAPIX (AXIS) protocol.

The intuitive software has been optimized for touch screen opera-tion. The large touch buttons allow operators to wear gloves while operating the touch screen. Thus, it is ideal to display video images on HMIs installed in hazardous areas. The user-friendly software allows for easy operation with no prior training.

Software Solution SeeTec Cayuga

TREE STRUCTUREThe tree structure facilitates intuitive and quick navigation as found in Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. Cameras, buttons, floor plans and other interface elements can be grouped and assigned in clear, easy-to-use tree structures.

GUARD PATROLS AND SERVER-BASED SEQUENCESAutomated camera actions can be defined on client side using the guard patrol feature as well as on server side. It is possible to move to individual camera presets and to open camera windows and views. All actions can be carried out for a specified period of time.

FLOOR PLANSFloor plans can be integrated in the software that deliver a complete over-view of the area to be monitored. Cameras, doors, etc. can be positioned as icons and selected with a click. In case of an alarm, the triggering object is highlighted in red.

ALARM LIST The list of alarms is sorted by priority: low, middle and high. An alarm can have four different states: open, reset, rejected and confirmed.

DRAG & DROP USER GUIDANCEUsing Drag & Drop, all the components integrated in SeeTec 5, such as cameras, doors, barriers, etc. can be dragged and dropped onto floor plans, scaled, aligned and given the required functions. Following this, the functions can be used with a click on the corresponding position within the floor plans.


Video Analytics

The SeeTec Analytics series offers powerful video analytics solutions designed to meet your specific requirements. The modules allow for fast and reliable detection of any potential incidents and ensure efficient alarm management. The analysis algorithms are configured directly in the SeeTec user interface (available as an option).

Complex Alarm Scenarios

Based on pre-defined, complex alarm scenarios, simultaneous recording can be set for individual network cameras. In addition, it is also possible to control external third-party systems.

Number plate recognition (option) allows for automatic access control and control of driveway barriers to hazardous areas, assignment of parking lots and loading/unloading terminals, or triggering of pre-configured alarm scenarios. SeeTec helps you to simplify processes and reduce costs.

Manufacturer-Independence

SeeTec supports the widest choice of third-party network cameras, video encoders, I/O and SIP modules, alarm triggers, or video sensors. This freedom to mix and match IT hardware from the world's leading manufacturers to fit your needs offers far the best price/performance ratio.


Oil-damped camera bracket ensures clear images

For the zoom cameras, R. STAHL provides oil-damped camera mounting brackets. The sophisticated damping system keeps the camera in a stable vertical position and eliminates vibrations caused by the crane operation, thus giving the operator a clear view of all areas.

Sight glass mounting bracket for compact camera

For reactor monitoring applications, R. STAHL offers sight glass camera mounting brackets that are ideally suited for sight glass monitoring of critical process stages.

Wash & Wiper technology with water tank

The EC-740-PTZ-SST camera's wiper function ensures a permanent clear view without requiring an engine of any kind. The optional 5 or 10 litre water tank mounted at a distance of up to 15 metres will supply the EC-740-PTZ-SST camera with spray water over a long period of time. The purely mechanical construction means that no electric connection is required for the water tank, making its installation extremely easy.

Analogue, explosion-protected 7" and 15" monitors with control unit

The 7" and 15" monitors support live monitoring and control of up to 4 cameras. Up to 3x EC-710, and 1x EC-740-AFZ-EX, or EC-800-TIC-EX at the 7" monitor, and up to 1x EC-710, and 3x EC-740 AFZ, or EC-800-TIC-EX at the 15" monitor. Because of the analogue tech-nique, the video streams are shown without latency, in real time for use with time-critical operations in hazardous areas.

Video monitoring via extremely powerful 4x8 Panel PCs

Based on the new i7 processors, these powerful 4x8 Panel PCs are ideal for network-based video monitoring. Equipped with high brightness displays, multi-touch functionality, bright-ness sensor, Bluetooth and camera interfaces, the 4x8 PCs can be used for many functions – worldwide at temperatures ranging between -40 °C and +65 °C.

Ex d Enclosures

The explosion-proof Ex d enclosure system in stainless steel or aluminium allows to fit components into the enclosure that are not certified for use in explosive atmospheres. Thus, the Ex de enclosure systems allows you to use components in hazardous area Zone 1 that are originally designed for use in non-hazardous areas only. For each component, we have the ideal Ex d enclosure solution to suit your needs; we also offer turnkey solutions upon request.

Ex e Junction Boxes

Ex e junction boxes in stainless steel or glass fiber reinforced polyester resin are designed to connect single or flexible wires in hazardous areas. The installation directly at the Ex d enclosure is reasonable and technically possible, allowing for easy connection of the fitted components inside the enclosure.

Control Box

The Control Box connects camera(s) and monitor and supplies additional power to the connected camera(s). The Control Box supports up to 4 cameras. Apart from the monitor, the box allows for fast and easy integration of all necessary components into one box, and thus significantly reduces installation time. The Control Box is designed for use in non-hazardous areas only.
