Overall• OneNote notebook allows instructor to add
information pages that are shared with students .
• The students edit their own pages that only the instructor can see.
Preparation for on-line notebooks
• Request that IT (Al) set up your SharePoint space on the Ursuline network.
• You will be given a folder that contains the name of the course with “Full Access” editing.
• You will link to the notebook through Office 365.
• I used the OneNote for Teachers app to initially set up the notebook pages and enroll students

OneNote Set Up Tool
Create a notebook: Change the names of your pages (except the Collaboration and Library) before you add students
This process takes several minutes so I only did two students at a time. The computer will do automatic fill as you enter the name of the student Along the way you will be asked to adjust the permission for the students. By
default it is set so the students can read the Library, edit the Collaboration page and edit any of their own pages. They cannot see or edit anyone else’s pages.
Typical list of student folders within the Notebook; students
have the privileges of “members”

Need to set sharing with whatever computer you will use to sync the notebook
Make sure you sync so the students can see your changes.
Students can use OneNote on-line from Office 365
• Students do not need their own copy of OneNote to use this notebook
• They have the option to download the full program
• When the item is bold, it has been edited and you did not read it yet.
• Date and time and author stamped in Collaboration page if you wish.
Summary• The students get an electronic copy of the lab from the
“Library” page and copy onto a page with the name of the lab.
• They edit the text and insert their excel sheets.• They do not have to do anything to turn it in. I sync the
OneNote notebook at 12:20 PM the day it is due. This time stamps the file and anything after that is considered late.
• My tablet allows me to write messages on their lab report and I have a grade template that goes at the top of the page to show their score.
• This still requires me to record the score in D2L manually.
Other cool things
• In Firefox (right click– this frame—print this frame) choose “print to OneNote”
• Works well for D2L generated homework. OneNote can be edited and saved so the student see their work. Then they enter the answer into D2L.
