What is OneNote? OneNote is a digital notebook you can use at home, in the office, or on the go!

Capture: Use OneNote to take notes, store documents, create spreadsheets, capture information, save emails and share information with others.

Organize: OneNote will automatically save and sync to your other devices.

Share: OneNote notebooks can be shared with co-workers, your team, or family.

Using OneNote in the Cloud You can use OneNote with several different Microsoft services that will allow you to access OneNote from any device via the Cloud.

Creating OneNote Notebooks If someone has shared a Notebook with you, you can click on the clink to open the Notebook. If the Notebook opens online, you can click to open in OneNote. This will sync the Notebook into your OneNote.

To create a new Notebook:

1. Open OneNote.2. Choose File > New.3. Choose OneDrive – Personal.4. Under Notebook Name, type a name, and

then click Create Notebook.

Opening OneNote NotebooksTo open a Notebook:

1. Open OneNote.2. Choose File > Open.3. Under Open from other locations, choose Recent Notebook, and then choose the notebook.4. To pin the notebook to the Recent Notebook list, click the pin.

What if someone sent you a link to their Notebook?

5. Click the link to open the Notebook.6. Click Open in OneNote.

Adding Sections Sections and pages are used to organize a Notebook.

To add Sections:

1. Choose the “+” symbol along the top of the Notebook.2. Rename the section by double-clicking on the Section Name.

3. To change the color of the section, right-click the Section tab, choose Section Color, and then choose a color.

Adding Pages Sections and pages are used to organize a Notebook.

To add Pages:

3. To change the page color, choose View, then Page Color and choose a color.

2. Name the page by typing in a Title and pressing Enter.

Adding Page Templates To insert a Page Template:

1. Choose Insert, then Page Templates.

2. In the Templates task pane, expand the categories.

3. Apply a template by clicking its name in the list. (You may press CTRL + Z to undo and try another template).

4. Click Close (X).

In OneNote you can apply templates to fit your personality, style, and frame of mind.

Taking Notes OneNote provides several ways to take notes: typing, writing, drawing, sketching, speaking, copying, etc.

Type notes simply by typing in the space.

Touch-capable devices have the added option of handwriting notes.

To use a bulleted list, type * on a new line, then press the Space Bar.

To use a numbered list, type 1 on a new line, then press the Space Bar.

Handwriting Notes 1. On the ribbon, choose Draw.

2. In the Tools group, choose any of the color pens or highlighters, and then use your computer’s stylus to write notes on the screen.

3. To stop drawing, choose Type.

Convert your handwriting to text by selecting the content you want converted, then choose Draw, and choose Ink to Text.

NOTE: No conversion is perfect, so double-check for accuracy and make corrections.
