Week:October 12th-16th
Social Studies: We will continue Unit
1. In Unit 1 we will discuss where we
live. This unit will also introduce the
students to the different places in
which people live and will describe the
characteristics of each of these places.
Spelling: We will be working on Unit 7
this week. Each word has one or more
consonant clusters. A consonant
cluster is two or more consonant
letters together. Their sounds blend.
They will have a test on Friday,
October 16th.
From the TeacherI hope everyone enjoyed the long
weekend. This week is going to be a
short one!
Field Trip: On Friday, we will be going
on our Field Trip to the Children’s
Theater to see the Little Mermaid
Junior! The students need to be in full
uniform, no spirit day for them.
Conferences: Mrs. Ingram sent out
the link to sign up for conferences,
which are October 28th and 29th. Check
in last week’s newsletter for the link!
Tests
Unit 7 Spelling: Friday
Religion: We will start Chapter
5 on Tuesday. Chapter 5 is
about learning that God sent
his son, Jesus, to restore our
friendship with him. We are
practicing our sign of the cross
and the Our Father this week
as well.
Reading: We will be starting
Lesson 4 on Tuesday. The
story for this Lesson is Diary of
a Spider, which is a favorite for
students! We have finally
adjusted to the Daily Five
routine! I will be able to start
working with them in small
groups. This week we will focus
on long O, U and E vowel
sounds as well as sounds for
G. Ask your child about Daily
Five and what they are doing
during it. They will love to
share! Keep reading for
Accelerated Reader!
Science: We will continue Unit 1.
In Unit 1 we will learn how to work
like a scientist. We will learn
about inquiry skills. The students
will learn that they use inquiry skills to search for information
and to learn about things.
Math: We will be finishing
Chapter 2 this week. We will do
word problems with 3- digit
numbers as well as >, = and <.
The test will not be till the
following week. Keep reminding
your child that 3-digit numbers go
hundreds, tens and ones. It helps
to practice counting by 5s, 10s
and 100s just so they are being
reminded of the number order.
