President’s Message

This is a poem I found in the Country Register years ago. It is yellowed and the corners are curled, butitisinthecenterofmyinspiration

board.

This Quilt is Made…

This quilt is made of cloth and thread

Toplaceuponyourlittlebed.

It’snotanheirloom–justtokeep,

But to lay upon as you count sheep.

Orperhapsthefloor’stheperfectplace

For a doll and teddy picnic space.

Thisquiltcanbeanythingyoudream–

From Superman’s cape to the robe of a queen.

Pretendit’saraftadriftatsea,

Or just cuddle up as you watch TV.

Souseitupandwearitout–

Just tell me when its days are through,

And I’ll make another, just for you.

-Unknown

It’s not the biggest thing on my board, but it is where I can read it over and over.

Wouldn’t this make a great label?

AndinspirationisEVERYWHERE!Howluckyareweasquilterstohavethesensetoseepatterns,colorsandideasandwanttomaketheseinspirationsintoquilts.

Whether it’s for yourself or a special someone, you get a spark to just make something. It may be some-thing that you love making and working with over and over or maybe you made once and are good to move on. A couple of my friends and I would love a project and not just make one, but one for each month or each season.

A word from Quilts for Kids and Quilts for VetsIt’s almost the end of the year and timetothinkaboutthedistribu-tionofalloftheQuiltsforKidsand Quilts for Vets that have been made and donated during the last 12 months. We’ve had a small but steady crew of people who have volunteeredtheirtimeandtalentsto making this another successful year.Atthetimeofwritingofthisarticlewehavecompleted106Quilts for Kids, 93 Pillowcases for Kids and 32 Quilts for Vets.

The Quilts for Vets will be distributed in early Novem-ber through the Veteran’s Hospital in Long Beach. Ihavebeentoldthatthisdistributionisverymuchappreciated by the veterans who receive a quilt.

The Quilts for Kids will be distributed at Snuggle Days, an event sponsored by the Orange County Social Ser-vicesAdministrationusuallyinearlyDecember.ThereisstilltimetocontributetothosequiltsattheNovem-bermeetingpriortodistribution.
