an opportunity to do-

nate items to our

Food Pantry as a way of supporting this event.

Requested items are hats, gloves, scarves, toiletries

(toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.). Or you

may bring these food items: pork and beans, tuna,

mac and cheese, diced tomatoes and chili beans.

Look for the marked container in the nar-

thex. Thank you!

most spicy, original,

creative, etc. Christmas goody bags handed out to

kids!

Wednesday, December 9

This will be the final Wednesday Meal for this semes-

ter! Please bring a favorite Christmas dessert or

snack. [We would like for you to bring a dessert that

has special meaning for you during this time, so we

can share in each other’s Christmas traditions.]

After the meal, you are invited to come and join in

the fun of a Family Advent Night, including all

church family. You will be able to choose from a va-

riety of activities, and should have time for at least

two of them. You might choose to decorate cookies;

or make a card for someone special; or color a pic-

ture of the stable scene where Jesus was born; or

make an ornament for your tree or the one at the

church. We hope that all ages will have fun working

together. We have so much to learn from each other.

First Baptist Book Club

Our January selection is A Common Struggle, by Patrick Ken-

nedy and Stephen Fried. This book describes Patrick Ken-

nedy’s struggle with mental illness and addiction. The meet-

ing will be on Monday, January 11 at 7:00 pm at Lee and

Carolyn Carlsons’s home, 4705 Balmoral. Copies of the

book are available at Amazon, Lawrence Public Library,

and Johnson County Library. We will not be meeting in

December because of Christmas events and travel plans.

The First Baptist Book club reads a wide variety of works

including fiction, non-fiction, biographies, memoirs, and

poetry. Members suggest the books to be read. If you love

books, please join us!
