KURUNJANG PRIMARY SCHOOL ~ “Learning Together” NEWSLETTER 12 - 2021 Thursday 6 th May, 2021 PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Tuesday afternoon marked the first occasion since March 2020 where all teaching staff met face to face in the Personal Learning Studio for our weekly staff meeting. For 13 months all meetings and curriculum planning have occurred on-line via Webex or in small groups where density limits have been observed. The most recent School Operations Guide has now lifted the restriction of density limits in classrooms and other areas only accessed by staff and students, although staff are encouraged to continue to physical distance where possible. ‘Density limits still apply however in areas generally accessed by the public, such as the school office/reception. Although events (assemblies, ceremonies and other large gatherings) are permitted with external guests (parents/carers/visitors), the overall attendee limit (inclusive of guests, staff and students) must still be based on available floor space of the venue; with the density limit of one person per two square metres applied. If an event is held exclusively with students and staff from a single school during or outside of school hours, density limits do not apply to the venue regardless of whether the event is held at school or at a hospitality venue, entertainment facility or community facilities.’ These restrictions therefore potentially still impact our forthcoming Year 3-6 concert on 10th June, planned to be held in the Kurunjang Secondary College gym. In the event that further lifting of density restrictions for events with parents/carers does not occur then we will determine an alternative as we did last year for events involving large gatherings, including year 6 celebration/graduation. In the meantime however, we are so pleased to be able to include external guests in our forthcoming Family Fun afternoon on May 27th (for which you received the flyer this week and which is included in this edition of the newsletter.) Please put in your calendar if you are available to attend school on the 27th May for a picnic lunch and fun activities and games with your child/ren. We invite all parents and carers of pre school children enrolling in school for 2022 to link into an information evening on the 16th June at 6.00pm via ZOOM. Details of this evening will be forwarded shortly. We are hoping too to follow it up with a face to face evening early in Term 3. Tours for any prospective enrolments are back to being conducted face to face rather than our video alternative of last year. Please contact the office on 9743 0633 to arrange. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Although enrolments can be received at any time during the rest of the year, the earlier we can confirm numbers then we are able to commence planning class numbers for 2022. If you know family members, friends or neighbours whose child will be attending Kurunjang PS in 2022, please let them know to come for a tour and arrange their enrolment. Another traditionally annual event which was not possible in 2020 is the Mothers Day stall. We thank the members of the PFA for the stall this year. The children have been very excited to be able to attend and purchase something special for between 50c-$5.00. To all mothers, Grandmothers, aunties and all significant females in the life of a child, we wish you a very happy day on Sunday. ~ Learning Together FOUNDATION ENROLMENTS 2022 ARE NOW OPEN Parents who live within our school’s designated neighbourhood area are invited to enrol their children for Foundation 2022 at the office. To be eligible to enrol for Foundation in 2022 your child must turn 5 years of age by 30 th April 2022. You must provide proof of your child’s age by presenting a birth certificate. CELEBRATION OF LEARNING ~

FOUNDATION LISA

Foundation Lisa has settled straight back into the expectations and routines that were set during term one. I am proud of how willing they are to have a go and try their best at any task that is set for them, as well as how they have already started to build up their resilience and bounce back from mouse problems. I have been surprised by how much growth I have already seen in my students, and I am sure I will be astounded by all they have learnt at the end of this year. Every day in Foundation is an adventure and I can not wait to see what the next one will be.
