Principal’s Greeting Hi All, How the first three weeks have flown by! Miss Stone will be in touch next week about her procedures with re- gards to homework and the general running of her room. Thanks go out to Sue Stead, Marcela Roberts and Christine Roberts for their help with school budget, PAT test marking and Sports Car- nival date surveying, respectively. Without the support from these women and the myriad of other jobs completed by school staff and other community members things would not be running as smoothly as they are. I personally very much appreciate everybody’s contribu- tions and the whole community’s “can do” attitude. Principal’s Greeting

Hi All,

How the first three weeks have flown by! I have been in to both

classrooms and observed students working quietly and studiously,

engaged in the activities prepared for them with a mature and con-

scientious attitude which I am pleased to see.

Miss Stone will be in touch next week about her procedures with re-

gards to homework and the general running of her room.

Thanks go out to Sue Stead, Marcela Roberts and Christine Roberts

for their help with school budget, PAT test marking and Sports Car-

nival date surveying, respectively. Without the support from these

women and the myriad of other jobs completed by school staff and

other community members things would not be running as smoothly

as they are. I personally very much appreciate everybody’s contribu-

tions and the whole community’s “can do” attitude.

Next week is busy with a visit from Hale21’s Michael Valentine to

continue our commitment to this great program. We are also begin-

ning to prepare for the sports carnival in earnest.

Just a quick reminder for all pertaining to the Allergy Policy at our

school. Can we please ensure there are no peanuts or legumes in

lunch boxes for morning tea or at lunchtimes. Our full Allergy Policy

will be located on our school website once I have had time to review

and update it.

See you at the next stop.

Warm regards,

Debbie Hayes

How to make a grass head

What you need : stockings

sphagnum moss/ sawdust/ coco peat (or something similar)

grass seeds (what ever is lying around)

plastic cup

crafty stuff to decorate (googly eyes, pipe cleaners etc)

1. Cut the feet out of an old pair of stockings, just above the ankle.

2. Fill up the stocking, start with the seeds then some damp moss or other

growing medium. Fill it up to about a tennis ball size and tie off. Leaving

a tail of stocking at the base (this will dangle into water to keep your

seeds moist)

3. Pinch the front of the head to make a nose and hold it in place with an

elastic band.

4. Now put you face on.

5. Glue an outfit on your plastic cup.

6. Half fill your plastic cup with water and place the head on top, making

sure the tail is dangling in the water. Place in a light area to get lots of

sun. Spray your head every day and watch the hair grow.

Best to get onto making your grass head ASAP so you have some funky

grassy hair ready for the fair (at least two or three weeks before). If your

still unsure you could always use Google for some more ideas.

Good Luck.

Dear Members of the Cascade Community, I am aware that you are regularly affected by inconsistent mobile and data service and in a bid to continue the work we have been doing to improve that service, we wondered if you would mind providing me some information. I plan to put together a snapshot of the businesses in your area to show the impact that incon-sistent service is having on business, and the value of your businesses. We are of the opinion that if businesses in a capital city with the combined worth of yours were to suffer from incon-sistent internet service, something would be done about it quickly! Please be assured that any information you provide will be kept strictly confidential, and will only be used when combined with that of others, no identifying information will be given out. Business address – Distance from Esperance - Number of Employees – fulltime and seasonal - Approx turnover of business – An approx breakdown of internet and mobile use (e.g. – 50% business, 50% personal, Netflix, online shopping) - What do you do for internet when the internet at your home/office doesn’t work – A general description of how it affects your business - Any other information that we may find useful – (eg – medical issues that require mobile service; impact on any volunteer roles you have; etc) Details can be emailed to [email protected] or [email protected] Thanks for your time, please feel free to call my office on (08) 9071 6555 and speak to Natahna or Christiane if you have any questions.
