It was one fine day in October'06, there was a call from the founder seeking my help!

he asked me to come to Office of Sub Registrar, Punjagutta, Hyderabad for being a

witness to a document. As I was just very nearby, I happily met him at the Office of

Sub Registrar. Then only I realized the fact that I added my signature to abhaya

Foundation's trust deed where founder was the settler. That is how, I became part of

abhaya Story.

Over the years, I am proud to be associated and helping hand in... abhaya Hunt the

Winter, Flood Relief, Orphan Care, Mission 1000, Propagation & Awareness Programs,

Thanks Giving Events, seeking/ getting corporate support and now serving abhaya

Home as its Management Committee member with my might. I thank abhaya for

giving me an opportunity to be part of the “ “Missions”. All that I did may not be even

a drop of the ocean... but, I am happy to be one such drop in the service of needy with

abhaya at my side.

Now, I realized that GOD has given me such a wonderful Life. Though he gave

problems... he granted me courage to face the issues as well. HOPE that, days will

change for better... HOPE that, I can make it big in Life... so is my association with

abhaya and its Mission to Serve with H.E.A.R.T

It is almost a decade now since I am associated with Abhaya. IIn our break time, the Founder used to tell me about thefirst got know about abhaya when I Joined Surana Group,miseries of people, who have come to him for some help. SomeHyderabad in 2003-04. I was working as Asst. Companyof the stories were so emotional, that it had shook my heart, asSecretary reporting to the Founder, CS. Balachandra Sunku,in most of these stories, people had lost HOPE for a betterthe then Company Secretary of Surana Group. I may havefuture. It was probably those experiences with which hejoined Surana, with only one thing in my mind, I need to learnfounded abhaya Foundation in the year 2006. But, by that timemy work and come out as a matured CS professional. As withI moved out of Surana and associated with PS Rao & Associates,any other budding professional, I focused, all my efforts, timeHyderabad...and thinking in learning and gaining work and related aspects.

Home for Destitute

Its almost 9 months now since abhaya Home dedicated to the

country. abhaya Team consistently and continuously trying to settle

the pending bills pertaining to civil works since then while started

operations on low key since Sept'13. Now there are 8 inmates in the

home (including paid staff). While we are trying hardly to bring in

more resources to pay of pending bills on one hand, trying more

hearty to depute much needed staff to run operations in full pledged

manner on the other hand. Founder & Members with the support of

many volunteers doing their best to mentor the existing inmates in

various ways. Hoping to kick start full operations sooner than

As part of abhaya Home - Empowering Youth: a 2 day Training on "Leadership with Community Work" was

organized by abhaya Team. about 25 Volunteers from Cognizant Technologies, abhaya Foundation, couple

of Trustees took part in the 2 days training at abhaya Home Of Happiness, Ibrahimpatnem, Hyderabad.

I am delighted to attend the workshop on 3rd and 4th may 2014 on a topic “Leadership with community

work”. The workshop was ingenious as it embeds intellectuals like Manikanta of cognizant outreach team

and the founder of Abhaya foundation, and many others from cognizant outreach team.

All the Volunteers reached abhaya Home of Happiness 3rd May 2014 by

6PM and there was a brief introductory session to know each other. We had

a prayer. Then we all followed the founder to listen to him about the

campus while visiting each block. He took us to the abhaya Vijaya

Sthupa... it contains the 5 religious symbols of the world, abhaya vision

and mission. We all had a fair idea about the work and mission of abhaya

post seeing it. Then the founder took us to ABHAYA Hrudayam and started

explaining us about how the idea of abhaya Home of Happiness has come,

the reason, people, logos etc., packed with real time divine experiences

which filled my eyes with tears of joy for the Divya Sankalpa. We all were

introduced to thefirst inmates of abhaya Home and also informed the team that they are the ones who will feeding us for 2 days.

All the Volunteers got up at 5:00 AM and went to ground in beside Stoopam and under guidance of a cognizant

outreach team member we all did Surya

Namskaras & Yoga. After this activity. we all had a

brief meditation session. We further went for a

morning walk in the serene atmosphere and then

walked around the campus by observing the

organic farming of vegetables. Everything

necessary for the workshop was arranged in

abhaya Hrudayam Block and we all met there at

around 10AM for the Training Session.

He gave a PPT presentation, in which the projects undertaken by abhaya viz., Hunt the Winter, abhaya Vignan School at

Yerragunta (with 200 students, 10 Teachers), Girijan Vikas Kendra Oriental School, Addateegala, EG Dist (with 150 students & 20

teachers), Role of an NGO in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), How can we together we create a Special World, Home Of

Happiness, Ibrahimpatnam, Flood Relief, H.E.A.R.T Initiatives etc., were presented.

He emphasized that by undertaking such Projects for the benefit of the Community we live in, one/ an Organisation can transform

oneself / itself, into a better human being / better Workplace, respectively.

He gave some of the examples of M/s Sushma, Sivakrishna, Narsimha, who are all benefited through abhaya's efforts, how they

are now transformed themselves in to better humans, helping the foundation, the Society as well as their Organizations. He then

Sunday Workshop. But, whatever I saw

over there... it is a great work that Abhaya

During the Training Session, what I saw is an achievement

for me as CTS Team was sharing their knowledge with

volunteers. I got confidence and I learnt so many thing

regarding WHAT,WHEN,WHO,WHERE, How to develop

confidence in our-self. and 1st time I attended Founder

Lecture It's a good achievement for me. He explained so

many things to us as to how to give light to the needy people

and also said how important are Confidence ,

Feedback from participants: Firstly, I want to appreciate the excellent infrastructure of abhaya home. I was

astonished by seeing heart gleaming dining hall, rooms etc., The environment

was quiet pleasant & everything is heart touching. During the Training

Session, I found an answer for my question as to why we need to do service?

as I used to think that it is only for the self satisfaction. But by listening the

reason I have decided to really deserve it.

Mani brother session was nice. Rarely I will waste my time whenever I feel

bore to read but after listening to him I have decided to maintain a chart for

the reasons, to questions like goal, why, what, when and how. I would paste it

in front of my bed so that by seeing it i can reduce that bloody habit & it

eventually the chart would reflect the dialogue " Learning is eternal and Live

as if you are dyeing tomorrow.”

Final touch that Founder has given in the session was

excellent. He is the person with great maneuver explaining

the things with simple abbreviations, filling the complicated

verses inn meaningful expansions and the rhythmic lines

that he often uses will bring lots of fire & they uplift energy

levels in listeners. Though the meeting mainly concerns

about volunteers most of the points would applicable for our

studies & more over those rules will be very much useful for

us as we are forthcoming volunteers of abhaya. - K

overwhelmed with the divinity and determination. Frankly speaking, we were

not satisfied with the sessions and for that reason, I thought of meeting you and

discuss. Need to understand the Volunteers are same irrespective of their

status... it is always matter of making a difference. Not all can be like Founder,

who dedicate their entire life for society. We all can support like that of squirrel

24 years Nazia Begum immobile since birth due to rare disease in her bones.

Sunshine Hospitals - Dr Subbaiah doing surgery for her spine. The estimated cost

is Rs. 5lakhs. PMR Fund provided Rs.2lakhs and the family pooled Rs. 70k and

abhaya to grant Rs.30k. When spoke to Sunshine Hospital management, they

consider to provide a discount of Rs.1.5lalh. Need another Rs.50,000/-... see if all

of us can lend our hands to this lady who is immobile and became immovable at

home though living!

She got operated during 3rd week of May'14. She is being discharged on 27th

May'14 from Hospital. Doctors advised the family members to carefully look after

her as there is a need for rehabilitation post surgery which is very important for her

to walk on her own. They also hinted that Nazia is in need of at least one more

surgery during next couple of months once she recovers from the present surgery.

I need some help from abhaya for

Balingaish, who used to work in rice

fields and got a severe electric shock and

lost left hand. It would be very difficult

for the person to take care of his family

without a hand. I would request our

foundation to help them with whatever is

possible. We will be grateful if we can

arrange for an artificial limb(left hand) if possible. I am also in the

process of mobilizing support in terms of Money, Material, Moral for

I spoke to Dr.Suresh regarding Mr.Balingaiah and he promised to

come back after examining the reports and case. I forwarded his

case to him with the photo for taking decision. I am very positive

Mission Umacchandar:We are doing well with god's grace and kind people like you. Regarding

Umacchandar, he is doing much better than before, he is doing regular

physiotherapy at home but his eye sight only one day vision is very clear one day it

was dull, but doctor told in due course it will also settle down. He want to go for a

job we are searching for a job like maintenance or some consultancy like because

he is having 30 years exp. in chemical business. Sir if you know anybody please

recommend for him.

Children they are doing well. Rohit is waiting for his results and Aakanksha is

enjoying her holidays. She is now 10th std. I am going to work and now it is more

hectic because it is loan season. We all of us in our family pray god daily to keep you

facing difficulty to stand and

walk early in the morning just

after getting up from the bed

physiotherapy for 30 minutes

he is able to walk . Doctor

advised to keep him in the

physiotherapy centre at

Bhadrak for one more month till

15th June 2014 to correct the

morning stiffness . I discussed

with the doctor who has advised

to take the child to his house on

16th of June14 and visit the rehabilitation centre once in a

week and continue the physiotherapy thereafter in the

house there by the cost will be very nominal which may be

about Rs.2000/-PM instead of Rs.10,000/- at present.

Doctor has agreed to help to arrange a disabled certificate

which will help him for education and service since

previous month it could not materialize as online

registration to be done. I have made the online registration

Mission Shaziad...it is a different update:With best wishes of abhayans all over the world, Master Shaziad got his

Cochlear Implant Surgery done with the support of funds received from

PM/CM Relief fund during the last month. Whatever the family could pool

to the tune of Rs.70,000/- became a blessing for them for post

operation.

The most inspiring thing happened thereafter... when the family heard

about the plight of Nazia Begum through Volunteer Farid, they readily

parted Rs.10,000/- towards Mission Nazia without a second thought.

This is an unexpected gesture from such a poor family. When enquired as

to whether it was a botheration? they replied that Allah is merciful in

lending HIS Divine Hands to their little child...

hence, they must act like real family members

since our ventilator broke down. We have another one and she is

good and back home. Started going to special school, since we

don't have career for her. I take her to school, stay with her and

get her back home. My days are engaged completely with baby

darling. We have appointments with great Ormond Street

Hospital for further diagnostics of her condition. By the GOD's

grace, they will surey find a cure. I am sharing her latest

Mission Sai Priya - She is now 26Kg's:She was weighing just 12kgs when operated about 6 months back. Now gained

14kgs weight due to consistent and continuous efforts put in by family

members and abhayans. Every month abhaya providing Rs.5,000/- to

Rs.10,000/- depending on donations received from well wishers. The need is

about Rs.20,000/- PM as she need to take most nurturing diet to gain strength

in body and weight. The family runs Mirchi Bajji Center on the road side of

Requesting for help for further education

It is close to 8 years since 4girls lost their parents! All these years

abhaya loving them like as they are GOD's own gifts to abhaya. Now,

Sridevi (18) and Suguna (16) finished their class X. Manga (15) &

Radhika (13) studying well. Sridevi may get RTC job. Suguna also can

get a small job...they are not so well in studies. Issue is that where do

they stay now and how can lead life on their own...there was a

discussion meeting with them last evening... couple of options

discussed... but yet to bring a decision. Its a fact that girls are gifts to

the humanity...but very caringly we need to have them enabling each

one to add value to the world around. Prayers for their well being. -

: Rajinikanth is the name and He did his B.Sc.(Audiology and

Speech Theraphy) from Sweekar and worked there for one year to repay his fee. He is now doing MSc in same field from

Helen Keller's Institute. Its two years course and the fee is about 2,65,000/-. He tried for Bank Loan and they are

asking for surety. He paid Rs.64,000/- for his first semester by taking hand loans from relatives and clueless for rest of

the amount. I spoke to him in brief and asked him to send his fee details and receipts, also the experience given by

Sweekar. He is working in a part time job and earning 6K per month. His father was a RMP practitioner and met with an

accident 7 month ago. As of now, Rajinikanth is the only bread winner. His mother is staying here with him and father is

also planning to shift here and search for a job. I feel if we have any contact in Helen Keller and can get some discount

10,000 Note Books being kept ready for distribution in India:

I am actively collecting toys and stuff. I also have around 3 boxes of 15-16-17 year boys shirts, pants

and shorts and they all are like new and some with even price tags. Thinking of sending either on

May30th or May 31st by FedEX from here. All possibly will be around 6 boxes. The ship time is around

6-7 days.

I am working with friend called Purnima Nath to find out the essentials to get the Non Profit status for

Abhaya Foundation here at US. Hopefully I will come with particulars to India. We have a long

weekend i.e 3 days holiday weekend. I will try to touch base with the abhayans here at US on

Monday.

Coming to my spending time as Summer Camp like thing at GVK school possibly...I am keeping my

days open from June26th -June2nd. Please let me know if there is any slot open for me and my son,

Sevalayam... a TEMPLE for high

school kids at Madurai

Sevalayam' is a hostel dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi

in 1938 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu under the ages of

Harijana Sevak Sangh an NGO (they have about 30

such hostels in TN). In this hostel, Children from the

very poor families of remote, rural areas stay and

study from VI to X Standard in the nearby Corporation

school. There are nearly 150 students - only boys.

NGO do not have any funds these days and What the

Hostel receives from the Govt. for the welfare of the

above students is about Rs.300/- PM!

The hostel building is in a bad shape and the

supporting pillar of the staircase leading to the first

floor, where the students have kept their personal

belongings , is broken and needs immediate repair.

The warden's office , the verandah where students

walk, sit and study during rainy seasons have tiled roof

and the roof has also to be replaced and it is right time

to set them right on safety ground. Some of the

relevant photos are attached for ready reference. So, it is planned to take up these repair works, by replacing the tiles with

sheets and replacing the staircase with suitable structure, during this vacation. After doing so , the students of Sevalayam will

surely have a safe accommodation when they come back.

autos and left. They are waiting for dependable fellows. Some fellow has not properly

paid the daily rent, it appears and hence they are a bit worried

now. Venkatesh informed that he is better now and that he

visited Endolite India, on 02.05.2014. They have taken

measurements for his hand and it is likely to be fixed next

week. He also stated that he has got auto drivers and they will

operate his autos from today. I advised him to be careful and

see that the autos are given to only reliable people(like the

earlier ones)and if needed, seek the help of his local leaders. -

that they have celebrated Mothers' day

on 11th May 2014, and these are the

Anand- Aadoni:Anand from Aadoni, Kurnool District is a

muscular dystropy patient. He is in

touch with abhaya for past one and half

year. He tried a lot for his treatment...

But we told him that the disease is not

curable. After several enquiries with

various doctors, he realised that the

disease can not be cured. So he started

thinking of getting livelihood on his own

with abhaya support. He proposed a

dairy form and to supply milk for

corporate residential colleges. The

estimation was crossing 7Lakhs, so we

suggested to think in middle scale. Then

he proposed to take up Daily Newspaper

Distribution Agent. He spoke to one of

the distributor and sent the estimated

cost and earnings. With the investment

of Rs.93,000/-(Advance amount need to

be deposited for two months for 500

papers). After all expenditures, there

will be Rs.6,500/- per month profit for

him. In principle the proposal is

convincing and we need to understand

his situation in detailed. abhaya plan is

to involve one of our volunteer to meet

Mr.Aanand directly and understand his

family situation. If all found genuine,

then we can think of another abhaya

for me to collect, which i did. They are sent by transport to-

day, to Sri.Nandakishore.J, Vaman Traders, Rajahmundry,
