Update on Ramesh family:Ramesh's younger brother who is staying in the hostel fainted in the hostel. On enquiry we came to know that he discontinued taking medicines for Fits long back. After receiving the call from VVVK warden, abhaya immediately admitted that boy in Nilofer Hospital. The doctors said he is alright and advised to continue the medicines for Fits at least for two years. Ramesh and his Grand mother take care of the boy when he is in hospital. After three days of stay in hospital, the boy was discharged and sent to Hostel.

Nagamallu's leg got operated

Words can't express gratitude

I have visited Sweekar - Upakar this morning

and had a chance to speak with the Principal

Madam. She is very happy about the progress of

the children and asked to continue for at least

next 3 months. She told that she will engage

some intern candidates (who are on part time

project training) to give speech therapy (two or

three classes in a week) to both the children.

This may cost around 3000/- alone. But she can

manage without any fund from our side.

Sharvanee is very good and things continue the same way then by next few days she will be back to home with minimum oxygen support for some time and she will be completely fine soon. Thanks for blessings and prayers. Baby is recovering fast post Rudrabhishekam & Pallaki Seva of Lord Siva and My mother's visit to Kohir at Omkareswar Temple. – Rajanikanth, CTS, Hyderabad

I observed that there is a need for lending financial assistance to sweekar as they started new projects at Kadapa, tandur and Guntur. So altogether organization is bearing all the costs for the new ventures. The founder Dr. Hanumantha Rao garu is putting sincere effort in bringing these institutions by doing that is needed in the administration. They are looking for a capable person / Organization, who can help for their expenses and promote their works for further funding. – KSV Sivakrishna, Trustee, Hyderabad

-Abhaya Team

The Report on Educare Review Meeting at HyderabadBaby took a very good session on skills required for a student/professional. I observed everyone was interested and gained some knowledge out of it. She gave some very good examples to motivate us. I felt very happy listening to those. I also gained lot of useful information. I spoke to few students and they all are very good and also bright students. But very few students turned up I feel. What would be the stopping factor for them is needed to know and to be corrected soon so that these sorts of things will not affect the system we developed. I feel, we need to be more careful about this I feel; as the foundation is growing day by day...we should be very careful at every instance and every action.

I spoke to anusha and dedipya, who came for volunteering. They are very cool in approach, I spoke to them about all my past experiences and action plan. I suggested them to form a small team themselves and come forward with good activities. - B. Sushma, Infosys, Hyderabad.

I am G V V Sathyanarayana everyone is fine with good health, Today I learned so many things in the seminar which was conducted by C.Baby with Power-point Presentation, the concept which she had selected "How to improved Communication skills and how to face the stage fear" was very interesting and it helps a lot for individual personality development. Every Communication must need Plan, Prepare, Practice, Present explanation, properly organized and everyone participated in the session with a lot of enthusiasms. - GVV Satyanarayana, CS Student, abhaya Value Center, Hyderabad.

I learned how to organise a meeting and what inputs we should exactly give them in the educare review meetings. But the only thing is many people didn't attend the meeting because of exams. But those who were there felt happy as they learnt something new and which is useful for their career and also self improvement. Thank you for giving me such an opportunity.

I was not able to read the newsletters regularly but from now I will do that and will come to know the updates. As I was not in touch with abhaya for the past 7 months, I didn't know some people but now I am clear, as I interacted with them personally they came forward to ask me about how to prepare aptitude or some information related to project work or how to give presentation in tech fests etc. I told them that they can speak to me for any sort of guidance in career or what so ever. I also told them that they should top the list in their college. Those attended the meeting yesterday are the people who are regularly sending the reports but i told them about the improvements they have to make in report writing. – C. Baby, Coordinator, abhaya Educare Team

really happy for participating and celebrating the Republic day with ABHAYANS.

I have an important request to ABHAYA from me is, I want to stay at VALUE CENTER

tI have completed my graduation with your support and now I am focusing on

Bank Po jobs seriously.

t3 important bank notifications in coming 4 months.

tMentally I am getting some disturbances when I am staying at home as I have

some family issues. That is why I want to change into another place.

tAs Mahesh is already gone through the IBPS written test, I can

get his support in preparation.

tValue center is nearby Central Library and RC Reddy study

Circle. So that I can attend free workshop classes which are

related to Banking / Economics.

tThe environment in Value Center is really good to prepare for

any competitive exams. - J Srikanth

abhaya congratulate Subrahmanyam for he clearing CS executive level in the first

attempt. CS YV Rao, kindly given him opportunity for 15 months management

training in his firm at Hyderabad

abhaya feel proud to share with you that Narasimha is one

of 11 students placed in ADP out of 500 students in the

college

I am Jaladi Kannaboss, son of Jaladi Emmaniel, now I am

studying BCA final year in Andhra Loyola College, in

Vijayawada. Mother is homemaker, and we are 3

children. I have an elder brother and sister. We are facing

financial problem as my father have no job since 4 years.

I did schooling up to 7th in a government school, and the

next two years I didn't go school. In 2004 I joined in a

private school as a private candidate, I passed my SSC

with 56%, then joined in a private vocational college in

computer science & engineering in inter from second

year onwards, I worked in an internet café up to degree.

I completed Degree 2nd year with 72% score parti time

job is a cause of my less percentage. In my final year I worked at college faculty

home. For this academic year (2011-2012) I have to pay my college fees 21050/-

(Twenty one thousand and fifty rupees). I used all the money that I saved for my

college fees for my mother's sudden surgery. So when I am in need I got help from

Abhaya foundation for Rs.13000/-

Our college principal helped 3,000/- and college faculty helped another 3000/-. So,

till January, 2012 I paid 19000/- as college fees. And I still have to pay

2050/-. Indeed I am working as a part time in hailand for wages. About my sister

now she is studying in Maris Stella College B.Com Computers 2nd year, her annual

fees is 15,000/- and my brother, he is studying CEC 2nd year in Andhra Loyola

college. Since from 2 months, I am doing hardwork for my project. Also I had paid

approximately 2000/- rupees from my salary for final year 6th semester

examination fees. Exams for 6th semester will start from 15th March.

I am going for weekend works, and hardware and software servicing. I am going for

security and networking awareness classes. After my degree, I would like to work in

summer for any call centre so that, I may helpful to my family. - Kannaboss

He is in so many tensions, as there is no income source for the family. His father is

hopeless and mother got operated recently. Relatives helped to some extent for his

mother's surgery but they are not in a position to continue the help. Also, he took

some hand loans to extent of 2000/- for mother's medicine. They haven't even paid

their rent for the past two months. I spoke to his mother too. She is also guilty for

not being sent him for the Educare review meet.

Later I spoke to Suneel from Care. He too said the same about the condition of the

family. I came to know that one of the lecturer who promised Rs.3000/- hadn't kept

his promise. College administration is keeping pressure on him to pay that. I felt so

sad to know all these things. I asked Suneel to adjust money for his Hyderabad

journey and to accompany Kannaboss while he comes for abhaya this Sunday. I

told we will reimburse the travel expenses. I feel, there is a need

for him. He has just 2 months of course left and thinking to quit his

studies, for an income source. I suggested him to come to us first.

I feel, the case is genuine and he is a hard working guy. Even I

spoke to his college faculty, when he came to us for the first time.

We should think for assisting him for these two months, after that

he can join in any job. – KSV Sivakrishna, Trustee, Hyderabad

abhaya congratulate Ms. Gowri on her engagement with a Lab

I am fine, I hope everyone and everything is well. My preparation is good. During the

last month I attended to 6 mock tests(results not yet come) and also attended the

banking interview workshop at NSB (National school of Banking). I Applied for Union

Bank of India, syndicate bank and Bank of India for interviews. For Sankranthy, I went

to my village(after one and half year) for 6 days. During January I learned about

“Accounting” with support of CA Sathish in the Abhaya foundation. Thanks to Sathish

and Foundation. I tried several times to talk to the founder

personally, but I could not get time due to flow of guests/ visitors

or meetings. And also many times I tried to say something, I got

scolding due to no clarity at my side. My expenditure during the last

month is about Rs.4,000/- as I had to pay Application Fee for Banks

and bought Dress, Shoe etc., for attending interviews. I have

borrowed this money from my friend without informing abhaya. In

case if abhaya can reimburse this, I can pay back to my friend. The

said expenditure is being met by me without informing abhaya

team – M. Mahesh, IAS Aspirant.

I am well, I hope all our abhayans are also well. My Civil Service - preparation is going

good and I am happy to inform you that, I did well and stood in top 10 in the recent

mock tests held on 5th & 6th January. Earlier of this month on 5th January I have

started going to RK Math for spoken English, I am actively participating in the seminars

conducted by them. On the occasion of Sankranthi, I went to my village because of 4

days holiday and further considering the fact that I may not get that many holidays

again. I am trying to improve my communication skills and English with the support of

Abhaya in value center. And I applied for V.R.O, exam which is on

19th February, for this exam I may have to go to my district. On the

day 26th this month I joined Republic celebrations and meet some

new volunteers in Abhaya. I want to meet some higher

administrative officers for suggestion and experiences. I wish to

involve in Abhaya's future programs. I have given Rs.1000/- to

Abhaya value center for food expenditure .Purchased books and

magazines with cost of Rs.100/-. So this month my expenditure is

Rs.1100/- . - B . Satyaprasad, IAS Aspirant

Abhaya Value Center – an UpdateI was further thinking on the concept of Abhaya Learning Center... since this is a

program designed to help needy folks who want to get a break after their education for

a decent job, and we are helping them to upgrade their skills, it is obvious that they will

get a job and so whatever we spend on them, they should pay back in installments

after they join the job. Assuming abhaya spend on them about Rs.5,000/- pm for 3

months, then they should return that amount in 5 equal installments and that way we

will be cost neutral. On the other hand I do understand the philosophy of abhaya and

the subtle difference between helping and payback., but the idea was to motivate the

person who gets a job to help back the system that enabled this in the first place and I

am sure you can come up with the right mechanism

TBS if they are ok with such an idea, as agreed they can deploy 4 systems, and we

(abhaya) will take care of operating expenses if any pertaining to candidates from

abhaya Foundation. (for maintenance exp as TBT will provide rent/space/computer

and training facilities and paying a small stipend to the student to take care of his stay,

study etc., which will be given by abhaya directly to the beneficiary).

After 3 months , as per current TBT rules, we can suggest to have a cooling period of 1

month before people get paid, so by month 4 if the candidates are performing well, they

can well be placed on

the rolls of TBT or at

another place as the

case may be with our

contacts and relations

with the people around

in the industry. So

employment is kind of

assured. Look forward

to have your thoughts.

“ H E A RT ” Awareness Update

SEWA – USA considering to

support abhaya Educare

Projects:

SEWA is considering to contribute around 50,000 Rs to

Abhaya foundation to support your activities. The actual

amount will be decided after receiving the form. For Abhaya

to receive the contribution, we require you to please send us

an Application form, Project Report in the area of Education.

Further Abhaya foundation should raise matching funds of equal amount that will be

spent in the identified project.

Please reply back to me if you have questions. We at SEWA appreciate the help Abhaya

Foundation is doing to help the needy in India. - Yaji Jayanti, SEWA International, USA

If I am right, the need of the hours is to get more donors. ABHAYA must help as many as

possible but that needs to be supported. I guess, we have many projects in hand which

needs support both in cash and kind. ABHAYA's good work has been covered by 3 major

players in media (MAA TV, EENADU SUNDAY BOOK and SAKSHI TV.)

There is a need to connect with more people personally and make them support us in any

form, to fulfill current projects. We should seriously think about some direct campaigns

of motivation in the corporate circles to have more helping hands. Such kind of direct

mailers may NOT give immediate results but can trigger someone at some point.

These can be made more effective by sending them on occasions like - Diwali, New Year

etc.

I just thought of sharing these kind of "MAKING PEOPLE HELP MORE PEOPLE" ideas

instead of giving publicity in any channel or paper that will bring more SEEKERS than

HELPING HANDS for the time being. I think, we need MORE HANDS now to help out

ABHAYA for the current projects.

I got a friend who can visualize the concepts in an ad agency. The direct

mailer idea can be decided by discussing with the team and he will design

it for FREE. I will write content. If needed, I can get a printer for

PRINTING those mailers with less costing. - Pavan Kishan, Agri Gold,

Hyderabad.

Thanks for sharing the happy and inspiration moments with prospective company

secretaries at Hyderabad. I too attended one such program as speaker. Further, some

of my Professional friends at Bangalore are planning to conduct some seminars /

workshops for students seeking training either with Company or PCS

especially covering the subjects like personality development,

communication skills, practical aspects at work places like. I will be happy

to have material if any from you for such programmes.

– CS Thirupal G, Company Secretary, Bangalore

Yesterday there were quite a few of these youngsters

from very poor family back ground, whose parents are

either dead or even if alive, can't meet both ends meet

for a living. However, these are a very determined lot

who withstood all types of agonies in life, became

successful by completing Engineering, MCA etc., with

the support extended by abhaya FOUNDATION.

Further, they are also determined to see that their

fellow human beings, who are similarly placed in life, should be taken care like them and

are trying very hard to carry this mission forward.

I was trying hard to hold my tears when each one was narrating how they made it this

far and what more they want to do to the society. Please don't come to the conclusion

that I have become emotional after yesterday's interaction with these people. I just want

to share my experiences with you all so that together whether we can contribute

something, in our own way to this laudable mission of abhaya.

The least we can do is to register as volunteer and think and contribute in whichever

fashion we may. right now they are short of persons with experience in mentoring,

managing people who come on day to day basis for help. I will be happy to receive your

Please help us to save our lives from death!!! – an appeal from weavers from Kappaladoddi

Directorate in the district to enquire about the situation.

visited the village on 5th Feb, 2012.

Abhaya team called the office of Collector and further tried to contact Assistant Director, Sri Baburao, who was not available. Later tried

and spoke to Sri Chalapathi Rao from the office of District Handloom Directorate

The team visited the village and interacted with families and conducted a meeting there in the village. 5 managers of Weavers

Cooperative Societies in the village present in the meeting and there were about 100 weavers assembled in the meeting. It has been

observed that the issues faced by them are multiple and solutions are also multiple.

After detailed discussions, it has been concluded that the issues faced by them cannot be resolved by NGO's and they are to be attended

by the Government. However abhaya informed the villagers that if they are able to list out at least 20 families whose sustenance is at

stake, then we can consider helping them in next 6 months.

It has been observed that there is a need to provide safe drinking water for the villagers and Panchayath is not really cared about such

things in the village. Abhaya intimated the villagers that if panchayath and villagers are able to provide space, infrastructure then

possibilities of setting up a mineral water plant can be explored by abhaya Foundation.

There were very less number of people who can lead such initiatives in the village as most of them are dead more than alive in the village

due to the issues faced by them in sustaining themselves.

Abhaya visited the abode of Kanakadurga at Indrakeelaadri, Vijayawada and offered prayers on behalf of all the villagers stating that she

should take care of them and sent special prasadam to the entire village.

“ H E A RT ” Transformation Update

I feel so small when I compare myself with you and your team who incessantly contribute time and

effort for uplifting and helping the needy people. A small correction, not that it makes any

difference though, you had categorized me as 'Indian Citizen' however I am an US citizen. Hats off

to your work and efforts - Raju Omkaram, USA

This is great work. I think Abhaya is growing from strength to strength. It only shows

how much more we can do if we can break through our mental shackles. Truely

inspiring. Thanks for sharing. I am seeing now, how HE is working through so many in

so many different ways. One may not agree with another's way of working because of

his narrow mind. But I am sure it's all part of HIS master plan.

– B.Venugopal, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Hyderabad

This is a great opportunity to go through the details of the god work happening through Abhaya

Foundation. This NGO is the chosen one by GOD. – Jagannath, Hyderabad

my husband during the next week. – Anusha Jaladi, TCS, Volunteer, abhaya

Foundation.

abhaya received first donation under FCRA

I recently saw your interview in Sakshi TV, it was very inspiring. I salute

all of your team. On abhaya's website I saw the project for orphan care

and I wanted to contribute my little to it. I have made a transfer to

Andhra bank account as per your website. I have sent GBP200 which is

around 15,380 Rs. At the current exchange rate but might vary slightly. I

am only writing to ensure that it reached the correct account. With Love,

Sai Jahnavi, UK

Trust all well at your end. On the occasion of my birthday on Feb 17, I thought it's a

good thing to donate and do some good karma and Abhaya is on my list of eligible

organizations that I donate regularly. I will be arranging to deposit a cheque in your

favor for an amount of Rs. 5000/- be deposited in Axis Bank @ Nariman Point Branch,

Mumbai. This is donation towards the education of the students of the Abhaya School

- Kashyap H Choksi, Mumbai

I have transferred an amount of Rs.1500/- to Abhya Axis bank account. I will contribute again in the

month of April”2012. - Satya Chenna, WIPRO

nAs of date the foundation is in receipt of about Rs.1,00,000/- from regular contributions per month. Apart from Regular Contributions of all the trustees, Sri KSV Sivakrishna, CS Balachandra Sunku and Mr. G Subramnayam are able to motivate their friends and bringing many monthly donors. All other trustees were requested to take lead role in a proactive way to connect the more like-minded people to foundation and bring in regular donations for doing good work.

nSetting up value centers for students aspiring for professional courses like IAS, CA, CS etc at various places in Tamilnadu/ Karnataka/ Hyderabad be explored by the members.

nThe trustees requested to connect one corporate to abhaya in every Financial Year.

nThe Founder expressed his views to dedicate his life for doing community work in view of increasing activities of abhaya since last couple of years on the pretext of opinions shared by various well-wishers. He informed to the meeting as of now he was not able to balance his time between abhaya activities, administration, supervision, professional commitments attached to employment. Whereas while recognizing the fact that there is a need for a dedicated team to work for abhaya going forward, everyone opinioned that Founder should defer his decision at least for couple of years and they are there with him if situation demand in future while he decide to dedicate his life for godly work happening through abhaya Foundation.

nThe trustees suggested that the best way to provide little balance to the executive teams is to separate the administrative function from the main activities of the foundation and the same can be handled by the paid staff, so that persons like founders, trustees, well wishers can dedicate their entire time in main activities of the foundation. In view of the above, it was decided to set up a full-fledged office for the Foundation for smooth running of the activities of the foundation in achieving its mission.

nNeed for giving helping h a n d s t o M r. K S V Sivakrishna while he is trying to bring the abhaya soft ware tool for the use by the team.
