It was an emotional moment for Team abhaya to see

the fruits of their labour. The work at site is at an

advanced stage. The civil work in kitchen,

dormitories and office block is already over. Also the

painting work has been completed. Wiring work and

windows are going on and should be completed

shortly. We wish to thank all our Donors, Volunteers

and Board for the support without which the fruits of

our joint efforts wouldn't have been possible to see.

We further appeal to all those kind hearted abhayans

to provide their support as per the promises at the

earliest opportunity with which alone the Project

come to completion stage. We may need resources

to the tune of Rs.50L to start operations.

CS Rashida, putting her undying, untiring support to abhaya by

spreading the cause across the places wherever she is visiting. She

visited the site and appreciated the pace at which the facility has

come up and the quality of work completed. She also said a few words

to encourage the Volunteers and assured her best support and

declared to donate work stations for training block at abhaya Home

from R&A Associates. We thank her for taking out valuable time from

her busy schedule and lending helping hands to abhaya and its cause.

initiating in setting up the modern kitchen at abhaya Home

with the support of Agromech Industries, Sanathnagar,

Hyderabad. Sri Sanjay, MD of the Company assured his best

Company's experts Akbar & Umashankar visited the site for

understanding the facility and the work involved. We wish his

abhaya Volunteers visit to abhaya home

It was a bright Sunday on 21.04.13, when abhaya Volunteers

Team along with Founder, Treasurer - KSV Sivakrishna, members

B Sushma & CS Rashida visited the Project site. All the Volunteers

were thrilled to see such a wonderful, airy spacious structures and

appreciated each aspect of the work that is done so far, at the site.

It is felt that it is all due to GOD's blessings in abundance alone the

Project is progressing in such a speed. Volunteers then moved

into the Admin Block for meeting. The Founder as always lead the

group for Prayers. Volunteers conducted a brain storming session

on a proposed Code of Conduct for them. The Team also

deliberated on the list of essential works at abhaya and divided

the works among the team with specific responsibilities. At the

end it was decided to conduct such meetings every month once at

HoH. The meet culminated with lunch after which the Team left for

their destinations keeping high spirits in their hearts.

Mahaswamiji of Shringeri Sarada Peetham Sri Madabhinva Bharati Tirtha Swamiji,

the 36th Head of Sankara Charya Peetham... very kindly granted Maha Prasadm to

Founder CS Balachandra Sunku, when he visited Shringeri and offered prayers before

Swamiji to bless the Project of abhaya Home of Happiness. Swamiji said, he is very

happy to note the good work happening and blessed the project.

We have to focus in and around Ibrahimpatnam Village as it is close to abhaya Home Project and do some research/survey by going around the village/ visiting homes to find out the needs of the inmates. Further there are manyengineering colleges around, we need to involve college students by educating them about social work and involvethem so that better results can be obtained. The task ahead for all of us is HUGE and everyone of us to contribute their mite...physically, financially and

emotionally. Many people are prepared to extend financial help but the word "destitute" has to be

understood / explained properly to public to make this project successful. Everyone has heard tsunami /

earthquake / flood relief but help to destitute is not heard and abhaya is doing an unique Project which is

also very challenging.

Though the project is small in value for me as a Civil Contractor this one of the toughest Project I have undertaken in

my career. It is difficult to bring labour to the site due to inaccessibility and has to pay double the wages to make them

stay here. There is good water resource and serene atmosphere for anyone to lead a healthy life. Happy to note that

the Modern Kitchen with all amenities being set up at the Project. I am confident of handing over the project in couple

of months now provided funds flow is good. It would be nice if someone arrange a permanent vehicle like an OMNI /

“ EART”HHealthcare Update

2 years of Patient and tireless efforts of abhayan KSV Sivakrishna with abhaya

special kids Sirisha and Divya are bearing fruit. Both of them have made

tremendous progress in their overall health. They continuously underwent

Physiotherapy and Speech therapy at Sweekar Rehabilitation Centre, Hyderabad

and doctors are happy with their progress. The Elder among them Sirisha is able to

walk and talk now. Divya is still not able to stretch her limbs or walk normally and

on taking opinion of an Orthopaedic Surgeon a surgery on her joints was

recommended. This surgery will help her walk normally. Even Sirisha needs a small

corrective surgery on her legs for her to walk normally. As they cannot afford the

cost of operation Dr.Sridhar from Kamineni has referred these operations to

Kamineni, Narketpally, where the surgery would be done free of cost. Both Sirisha and Divya visited abhaya along with their

parents to get aid for medical and other related expenses. Considering their improvement, abhaya has sanctioned

Rs.10,000/- for them. They were admitted at Kamineni and are currently under medical observation. If everything goes

well, the operation will be performed on 26th April. We pray god to be with them guiding, guarding, caring all the time.

Mission Sarada is a memory now:

Sharada breathed her last on 19.04.13. Leaving a question to all of us as to

what else we can do for saving precious lives like hers in future. We feel

deeply anguished to see such moments but accept it as Gods Will. With

renewed resolve to attend such cases with more urgency and more effort we

would appeal every Abhayan to take a lesson from this and resolve with

conviction to be with such people with utmost care. Lets all of us put our best

efforts forward without any more delay.

Mission sirisha & divya

The O2 concentrator is being transported from Vizag and will reach Hyd by weekend. This was originally

purchased by a family there for a short term use. The person using it has recovered now and they approached

the dealers to sell it back so that they can have some funds. The dealer in turn has directed them to us since

we were looking for purchase the same. She is getting stronger day by day and has responded well to the

physiotherapy that we do at home. She is also keen to get out of the ventilator soon and keeps asking us as to

when do we take her out to the park to play. We got a pram for her and keep her moving around in the house

so that she gets used to being mobile and her body gets adjusted to joint movements. We are strong in our

belief that very soon, she is going to be independent of the ventilator and other machines Thank you once

again for the kind gesture and continuous support and prayers. – Sandhya, Hyderabad

Mission Sharvaani

I am B.Suresh, I was referred by Ms.Durga to volunteers Little Yesobe and his family. I

understand that he has to get up early in the morning 3.30am as only 40 files are allowed every

day at the NTR Cancer Hospital and he has to get token from hospital two hours prior to doctor

appointment. Further the boy gets frustrated at times and spoils things around him as he is

hyper active and being they are from low profile family they are afraid to adjust in abhaya

home. Hence they are staying near hospital.Doctors at NRT Cancer Hospital seen the boy and

prescribed some medicine for a week and asked them to visit the hospital next week stating

that his blood count is down. Accordingly they purchased medicines and traveled back to their

village. I provided Rs.4,000/-. – Suresh, Volunteer, Hyderabad.

Mission Yesobe

Mission Umachandran: WISH YOU A HAPPY UGADI and I pray to god on this Ugadi day to

give all abhayans, a good health and prosperity to serve people. My husband is doing well and still needs

to have medicines for few more months. Please excuse me and tell me whether I have to send medical

bills as usual or shall I wait for your instructions so that I can follow that which will be more helpful for

me. I also saw March 13 Abhaya magazine . It is very happy to see the construction work was very fast

and the number of Beneficiaries became more this time. I once again pray god for your good health and

Mission Nagarjuna You are aware of Nagarjuna's miraculous recovery post bone marrow transplantation during January 2013

at CMC, Vellore. When Srinivasarao F/o Nagarjuna approached seeking support of Rs.10,000/-, abhaya

after considering the situation of the boy and economic condition of family decided to stood beside them in

pooling the resources from all corners and arranged to sent a cheque for about Rs.1.89 lakhs to CMC Vellore

for Nagarjuna's treatement. Later PM Relief fund sanctioned an amount of Rs. 3.00 lakhs to CMC, thereby

excess amount for the treatment was pooled and CMC issued a cheque to the tune of Rs.1.89 lakhs with an

intimation to Srinivasarao, to abhaya as the same was previously sent by abhaya Foundation. The said

crossed cheque has been handed over to Srinivasa Rao, when they visited CMC for monthly check up in

February 2013. But, he has neither informed nor handed over the cheque abhaya for a month or so. When

Mission Sarada (Mar'13) was initiated by abhaya she has been referred to CMC with a letter request that

they may treat her with amount due to abhaya. Whereas on contacting the concerned Doctors, we were

told that the cheque was handed over to Srinivasarao in Feb'13.

This was an unexpected behavior from Srinivasa Rao. On enquiry, he was unable to justify as to why he has

kept the cheque of such an amount for such a long time on one hand, on the other hand he tried to explain

about his financial situation and requested provide 1.89 lakhs received from CMC to pay back his loans.

abhayans Sri EJP Prasad and Sri Siva Krishna spoke to him personally and told him that there is no possibility of such support but

assured best help for Nagarjuna post operation scenario and assured him about abhaya monthly support of Rs.3000/- will continue

till he fully recover. He has been further informed that if at all the amount belong to him it could not have been given to abhaya by

crossed cheque. Abhaya team advised Srinivasarao to approach CMC Authorities for getting suitable clarification in the said regard.

If needed, abhaya would issue back the cheque to CMC. It was concluded that abhaya continue to support Rs.3000/- per month as

promised 6 months back, upon receiving monthly update, bills and Pictures.

abhaya Educare Review Meetingabhaya Educare Review Meeting

This time Educare meet was handled by abhayans CS Sunil Shankar(Consultant), Narsimaha (ADP) and Ankita Rajpal (Infosys). There areabout 15 abhaya supported educare members present for the meetingapart from couple of other Volunteers and new students who approachedabhaya seeking help post seeing Sakshi News Item.

It started with review of quarterly reports of all. Majority of the students arehaving their final exams and who ever finished their exams looks to besatisfied with their performance and hoping for good results. One goodthing which was observed is many of the students have at least startedreading English books and newspaper as a step towards improving theircommunication skill.

A brief session on 'Email-Etiquettes' by Ankita Rajpal then raised thecurtain for the educare meeting. She started with importance ofcommunication through Email in today's high-tech world and followed byvarious Do's and Don'ts involved in Email writing. In view of that all thestudents are now asked to send their monthly report through a detailed mailand in turn enhance their Email writing skills. There after all the membersare asked to share their experiences/ observations since last educaremeeting.

Leelavathi, B.Sc.,who was here at Hyd for a month's training withSambhavan - TBSS. talked about various soft skills learnt in the program.

Soumya,(B.Com) enchanted Sanskrit shloka she is teaching to the kids innearby school.

Leelavathi (B.Sc ) shared few First aid tips regarding burns and fever.

Sridevi(Class X) presented the gist of book she read about Vivekananda.Manga (Class VIII) explained about who is a good citizen in her view.Sunil (Class VIII)shared his school trip to Birla PlanetariumRadhika entertained audience with her melodious song.

Sunil Shankar, thereafter took a session on 'MS Excel'. He started with verybasic of opening and saving a file and explained spreadsheet, cells, dataentering, row addition/deletion and various functions like Sum, Multiply etc.He really involved the students while session and called them to practice iton system after every new thing thought.

In a process of having a 'Book Review' section for upcoming meets ofEducare meet, Students were distributed few of the books and were askedto read and present their learning from book in next meet.It was observedthat students are still not familiar and adhering to the 'Code of Conduct'drafted during last meet of abhaya. once again, abhaya code of conducthas been presented for the benefit of everyone and advised the students topractice.

The session was concluded by the Founder and he shared his thoughts onEmail writing and its importance. He asked students to excel their qualitiesof communication and writing skills by participating in various activates ofabhaya as it will benefit them in long run. For this he stated- “Come toabhaya to Impress to Express But not to Suppress .“ He also asked them tostrictly adhere to Codes of Conduct.

I joined PS Rao & Associates for my 15 months

Management Training at Hyderabad post clearing my CS

Executive level Exams. Presently I am doing the work

related to E-Forms. I am able to improve myself in

training. I am doing some mistakes in filling, but

correcting them slowly while working. I had been to my

home town for Ugadi Festival and met my friends. I

applied for LAWCET Exam which is schedule to be held

during next month. I am continuously

improving my communication skills and

trying to talk in English and I started

preparation for CS Professional Exams

and planning to join coaching for the

same. I donated Rs.500/- for Abhaya

Home of Happiness from my first

stipend. –

I am fine. I worked very hard for my exams. With the

support of abhaya we went for tour. That was very nice

and left a sweet memory. I activity participated in the

games conducted by school and could get one prize for

musical chair. I entered in to Abhaya in 2012. The

Abhaya helped me for paying fee for my 10th class. I felt

very happy to connect with Abhaya. I am able to learn

many new things after coming to the meetings

conducted by abhaya. I don't know

about the computer. In my school

we enjoyed a lot and we learned a lot

in 10th Class. I scored 498/600. My

10th class results will come on 22nd

May. I will score good marks. Out of

10 points 7 points will come. I was

very interested to learn computer. -

My name is I am studying in Dayanand High School

in 8th Class. We have summer holidays now. I wrote my

Annual Exams well. I joined in Abhaya Foundation in last

year in 7th class. I got certificate for collecting donation and

given to Orphan people. I have collected Rs.475/- and

given Ashramam with our school. I went Mount Opera in

last year with my school . I enjoy very much in playing in

swimming and other games and we went

Birla Planitorium also and there we saw a

movie about all planets and we saw

experiments in science lab and we saw

Dinosaurs and Elephant teeth and We

enjoyed very much in half year exams

and I got 540 marks out of 600 marks

and I hope I will got 550 out of 600 marks

in annual exams.

I am from Anantapur. In my final B.Sc, I

participated in seminars. I received cash from

S.K.University for being topper in Chemistry and also

conducted Balavikas classes for kids. Last year my leg was

fractured. That time Abhaya provided Rs.1000/- for my

medical fees. I wrote Group-IV exam. That time also gave

Rs.1000/-.Abhaya giving lot of encouragement for me all

the times and I am happy to share my problems and

happiness with Abhaya. I participated abhaya awareness

program at Anantapur. I am done with

my final exams. I had coaching in TBSS

Company to improve my spoken skills

and personality. Abhaya provided

Rs.5000/- for Hostel charges and

another expenses. I am sharing abhaya

activities with my friends. Thanking you

abhaya Vignan School Update:5 Teachers joined the Founder during his visit to Anantapur wherein he addressed

series of gathering in the city on 16th and 17th March. Saraswathi pooja performed

on 19th March and some bhajana songs were sung. Annadana program also

performed about 400 pupils and parents. Everyone felt happy to participate in the

Saraswathi Pooja before Annual Exam. It is observed that among the students dull

students become average, average students become good at their study

I am , IInd year General Nursing Student of “J.Eshwaribai School of Nursing” last

three months I spent my time in a different ways. In the month of January I have being posted for

clinical duties and I participated in college program that is about save the girls. Classes are

conducting by college authority. They teaching about how to care and treatment to be given. They

conduct some extra circular activities like sports.Whenever I get time I am practicing my

communication skills.And I am practicing computer. We have five months clinical duties in IInd year.

3 months I am doing duty in our college hospital Geetha Multi Specialty Hospital. And 2 months

posted in “Gandhi Hospital”. I am planning for my IInd year studies I want to get good percentage. I

got 63% % in Ist year. I don't have any health problems. My mother recently got left leg infection

on week. We are giving treatment to her.

Mumbai for nominating abhaya for

IVolunteers Awards 2012. With utmost

humility we wish to inform you that

abhaya was able to reach the finals and

receive finalist award on on 8th April

2013. Abhaya was well appreciated at

the forum and the same were received

by abhayans Sushma, Durga and

Harikrishnan who represented Abhaya

and received the momentos. Yet

another feather in the crowded cap of

abhaya. Hail to the joint efforts of all the

Volunteers who put their heart into their

work every day.

Abhaya - one of the top 10 NGO's that

are listed out of 60 NGO s who

competed for the IVolunteer Award in

the Country. Most of the NGO s are

doing work/ service in the field of

Education / Old age homes / Schools/

Health CARE. Whereas, abhaya is doing

UNIQUE service through its H.E.A.R.T

initiative. There were no permanent

staff who are working on payment basis

since its existence. We need focus

more on volunteer engagement activity

and we need have a dedicated team of

volunteers in order to excel in our

service activities.

Trustee attending marriage of beneficer (mission ananth)Abhaya has supported people all along to reprogram their life whenever there was a need and the

support doesn't end merely end at monetary level. We believe every such beneficiary becomes a

part of Abhaya and its extended family. Being family it is our duty to be with them in their thick and

thin, in their happiness and sorrows. One such happy occasion came upon Sunil's Sister (Abhaya

Aathma Viswasam Saloon Shop) at Bengalure where she entered matrimony. Sunil is very

diligently running the saloon shop and earning happily for their livelihood and his ailing brother

Ananth is doing well with his support. CS Thirupal, Trustee along with Ramakrishna attended the

wedding and wished the best to the couple on behalf of the entire Abhaya family. We wish them a

blessed married life.

EJP Prasad retired LIC officer, Coordinator,

abhaya RPL took Venkatesh to MLA Bikshapathi

Yadav, Lingampally. He very kindly provided

recommendation letter to CMO, requesting for

best possible support for Venkatesh in getting

the artificial limbs. We wish this soon will be

reality and Venkatesh can get the benefits as

early as possible. We only wish there were more

souls like Prasad uncle who put so much of

empathy and compassion in their work. His

sincere efforts are what have helped the case

reach such progress. It would have been so

much easier for him to simply rest and enjoy his

retirement age, but people like him choose to

be different. Our humble appreciation for his

pure intention and selfless work and our best

wishes with him in his mission

I was able to connect to Sri Tulasi Prasad of Bangalore who has been helping Kodanda. I

enquired about his feelings towards Kodanda. Tulasi Prasad told that Sri Kodanda's

conditions and what was told by him are genuine. He was helping Kodada to keep him

motivated from his disastrous conditions. If we are going to help him for any medical

treatment or wheel chair or something, he will also contribute something.We have

talked with a rice dealer who is a Sai Devotee regarding Kodanda. Meanwhile, he has

taken a hand loan from one of his friends in the village of Rs.10000 and procured some

bags of rice from this Dealer and some from one more dealer came in to contact from

some other friends. He already sold some bags. it was Kodanda's Birth Day on 15th

April and devotees of Sai Center, Tirupati arranged for a BHAJAN at his Home praying

for well being. We made him to cut the cake new clothes also are being given him.

I read the article on “Abhaya Foundation” appeared in Sakshi

News Paper. I congratulate you for this initiative and also doing

commendable job in helping the needy. Wishing you all the best

Venkat is my junior at HCU and doing his MS in US now. I just

sent a thanks note for his donation of Rs.15k. His interest is to

encourage students in his village. There will be around 100

students who completed 10th class, but not continuing their

studies with various reasons. He wish to have an awareness

program to encourage them to study and explain them the

benefits of education. His village is located about 260 km from

Hyderabad and there is no college in their village. We felt that

July is good time for the program. If we can motivate them in

understanding the importance of education… we are successful.
