By Donating Rs. 150/-, you can give a warm Blanket to some one who is suffering

from nail biting chilly weather. We urge you to join us this winter in contributing and

distributing free blankets to destitute (Not Beggars) as we scour every nook and

corner of the country for them. abhayans throughout the country spend their nights

with absolute care to ensure the material reaches the Right People.

abhaya started hunt the winter in 2006, without knowing that we are sowing a seed for

a giant tree which will eventually shelter humanity. abhaya inaugurated HOH, last

month which is going to be home to 500 destitute of this country and all this started

from a humble beginning called “Hunt The Winter”. Hence every abhayan conducts this

annual event with a religious fervor and ceremony. The Religion is Humanity and the

Ceremony is spreading warmth with love.

lived on bed all these days has taken

her first step towards reprogramming

her own life at abhaya Home. Lets

The First 5 @ abhaya HomeThe temple finally got its first Gods and

the ecclesiastics who would take care

of them. Rama Rao (Caretaker),

Jilanee (Watchman) and Chandbi

Jilanee (House Keeping) joined us in

serving our first inmates Smt Kusuma

and her Mother Smt Padma. Our

heartfelt gratitude's to all of them for

accomplishing the reason and meaning

of abhaya HoH. With renewed resolve

to serving Humanity we hope to see

more and more people joining us in this

Divine Endeavor.

age he has every right to lead a

calm retired life cherishing his

innumerable achievements in

life. But he is a man of ceaseless

action. His efforts to promote the

cause of HoH have been

relentless. His efforts were

instrumental in pooling a huge

chunk of the resources we have today for HoH. After the

inauguration of HoH, he has not kept idle even for a moment and

recently made Founder to move along with him for propagating and

promoting this Godly cause. For abhayans he is “commitment

personified” an institution in himself and patriarch of the family. We

Avanti Kshetram when founder and Secretary, CS G.

Raghu Babu met Dr Sharath Babu, Sri Ramamurthy

and Team. The Team decided to work on a proposal

for utilizing the land available for skill building in

consultation with abhaya Home. We welcome their

thoughts and admire their spirit to serve.

Shri G Srinvas is a simple man with a golden heart. He got

connected through CS G Raghu Babu and attended

dedication event. So inspired he was with the event that

he promised a long term support to abhaya Home by

supplying rice bags. He was later inducted into abhaya

committee as well. He wished that Founder visit

Miryalaguda, where he organized special meetings with

VIPs of his town. He became our host on Sunday 29th

Sept 13, inspite having a busy schedule which includes

being the secretary of Miryalaguda Rice Millers

Association. He pooled Rs. 3.5 Lacs from friends and

promised further support for abhaya HoH. He donated

one bag of rice for serving at abhaya Home and assured his best possible support for getting Akshaya

Prasadam. We salute this magnanimous gesture of a simple man with a golden heart.

whatever they can to spread the cause.

Sai Priya (12) was

born into a typical

BPL family who

survives by selling

Mirchi Bajjis on the

roadside. She had a

unique medica l

condition where her

ba ckbone kep t

bending over years

till it made her bed

ridden for more than a year. Doctors were hesitant to do a surgery due to its complications and huge

cost. Out of love, her grandfather started pooling funds from wherever he could for a year and Doctors

from Kamineni Hospital Abids came forward to do the surgery. Many kind-hearted people lent their

hands and pooled over Rs. 8 lacs. After a marathon 14 hour

surgery by a group of specialist Doctors and by Gods blessings she

survived and is straight and right now. The family has been in

touch with abhaya since a year now, but due to a number of high

priority cases we were unable to lend them support. Finally

committing Rs. 5000 towards her food and medicine expenses for

the next 6 months.

Mission Syed Saleem

Syed Altaf is the eldest son of Mr. Syed

Saleem, who is the only bread winner of

family and working as a daily laborer. Altaf

is suffering from a life threatening disease

called aplastic anemia and this disease is a

chronic one and needs immediate medical

intervention in the form of replacement

bone marrow. This is a herculean task for

his father to the whole burden on his

shoulders with his meager income. So he is

seeking financial aid from the kind hearted

persons who would help him to save the

child.

Altaf is undergoing blood transfusion thrice

a month and the expenditure for transfusion is 6,000/-

(p.m.). Day by day the health problem of Altaf is

becoming severe and he needs immediate cure for

disease. The cost of the transplantation would be about Rs. 30,00,000/-. This is an

approximate amount and may increase in case of a life threatening fungal infection as

the fungal agent may be expensive. They have approached all the corners for help,

and pooled to most extent of the estimation in cash and promise.

expenses. The same has been agreed by his father.

Mission NagarjunaHe has come clear in treatment at Vellore and in post-operation check ups.It's been

nearly one year since abhaya took up Mission Nagarjuna. He has been successfully

transplanted at Vellore and in post-operation check up. They had a scheduled visit to

CMC on last Monday. This time a complete re-assessment was planned for Nagarjuna to

know the improvement. Because of some health complications, they postponed the

schedule and both Nagarjuna and his father are back to Hyderabad.

Mission MalakondaiahI, M. Malakondaiah on whom kidney transplantation was done with your support

on 10-08-13. I am fine and safe with the help of all of you. Your help is

unforgettable in my life. After recovering I would like to join you to help others, the

way you are doing currently. I further request you to help me with my monthly

expenses, medicines and test for post operative care. I would need to take rest for

6 months on bed. If possible please try to help me. - M Manikondaiah.

Mission Mukeshabhaya appeals to well wishers to lend hands of support to Mukesh: Mukesh is

recovering well after two and half months of treatment in the rehabilitation center.

He is able to lift and put forward left leg with help of walker but not able to lift right

leg. I discussed with doctor and he told that muscle power in right leg is less, which

also will come in the process. Now Mukesh is able to stand for 2 to 3 minutes even

leaving aside the walker. Both Mechanical and Manual Physiotherapy are being given

to him. The positive assurance of Doctor and response of the treatment has made

the child and his parents happy and child is wishing to continue his studies from next

academic session. Abhaya arranged to send Rs. 8,000/- in child's account in SBI,

HAL to meet the expenditure for August'13 in rehabilitation Centre at Bhadrak

towards room rent Rs.3000/-, physiotherapy charges Rs.5000/- and other misc exp.

Rs.2000/-. He really needs to have all our support. abhaya appeals to everyone to

contribute as small as Rs.100/- PM for the cause.

Mission Sofiya: She reached GOD's fold

Moments like these only harden our resolve to live for those who are

in need, no matter what it takes….!!!

With immense grief we inform all abhayans that Sofia Glory the Divine kid

whom abhaya supported for Kidney Transplantation surgery about 5 years

back, left for heavenly abode on 24th Sept. 5 years back when we wished

her a long and health life post successful surgery we dint expect in our worst

nightmare to find her fighting for life for past 3 days at a Hospital. It's

heartbreaking to revisit the video where she spoke about her plans for

future. We express our heartfelt condolence for the entire family of Glory in

this hour of grief. We pray for her Glory when she meets God.

Mission SanthoshAt BBR Hospitals. Massive internal brain hemorrhage to Santhosh at same place

where he suffered couple of years back. Presently he is in high risk state and

unconscious. Emergency operation is being done. Need your help this time. I have

already given advance to ICU of 20k. Kindly see if any help can come. Dr. TN Rao is

treating him and patient is readied for surgery. I am a bit scared this time sir, he did

not look good as his bleeds are bigger and deeper. I am praying with all my might

to give him hope and health. Your prayers always work wonders...

Subsequent update:

Santosh got discharged last week post surgery and recovering. Overall we had a

bill of 85K at BBR this time, friends pooled in about 35K and between me and Ravi

we had to pool together 25K each to get him out. Tough but did not have

options/choice. Thanks for the prayers and offer to help, we will need it, always,

“H ART”EEducare Update

Haritha (Group I): All my classes are

coming to an end in a few days. I am

performing good in the exams. I got 72

marks out of 80 marks in history subject

test. I have attended inauguration function

of abhaya home of Happiness and coming

to abhaya on weekends to learn new

things. Before connecting to ABHAYA

FOUNDATION I don't know how to behave

in the society. But now I am learning every

small thing in behavior.I am Speaking with

my friends almost every thing in English

and Reading more number of English

books and explaining to

friends in English. I am

also reading English

news pape r s and

collecting meanings to

the words which I don't

know and using that

words for more number

of times.

Srinivas Reddy (CS) : I have

attended the inaugural function

of abhaya home of happiness at

Ibrahimpatnam along with my

friends and colleagues from my

office. I am preparing well for the

CS Professional exam in

December month. I am going for

coaching in Digvijay. As I am

working and earning Rs.5000/- a

month, I don't need any

monitory help for now. I have

(B.Tech):I've cleared my

4TH semester without any

arrears with G.P of

7.03.Totally there are only

5 students who cleared all

subject in my class. I won

a kaleidoscope as prize for

Adds-up contest held on

Independence-day. I had

attended the Educare

meeting last month and got some guideline for

my future from Sunil sir and learnt how to make

an effective presentation from Ankita madam.

As I'm working I rely on my savings for my basic

financial requirement. I have got rid of stage

fear now and I am able to present any topic

even if don't know much about it without any

fear. Last week I presented a topic on

ENTREPRENEURSHIP in my class. I intend to

participate in S.S.N College IT symposium and

will try my best to win the prize in DEBUGGING.

I am fine here and hope all abhayans are well and in pink of health. Due to the ongoing Bandh only 2 to 3 classes

are conducted each day. I want to share few things about my college. The classrooms are so big. Our

professors use some equipment while teaching us lessons such as projector, mike and others. HOD's come

daily to hostel & enquire with us if there are any problems with seniors and they will take care of us nicely. Apart

from this I went to Inegendla village as part of village service I participated in medical camp and balavikas. For

developing my English I am reading Swamis speeches that are in English. So every thing is fine here with me,

except that I have to concentrate a lot.K.Sailatha, I year MBBS, Annanthapur Medical College.

abhaya Vignan School UpdateSamaikandhra bandh partly affected the activities of abhaya Vignan School.

But the management took care to run the school with available resources.

There were a couple of things suggested by the team which visited two months

ago and they are still pending due to the Bandh. During the month of

September, Teachers' Day has been celebrated at School, Head Mistress Smt

Padmavathi and other teachers taught the importance of the day and stressed

on the importance of a teacher in ones life. School management also celebrated

Ganesh Chaturthi and distributed prasadam to all the students. The pending

tasks to be attended immediately are 1. Paint Classrooms with cartoons2.

Repairing and Coloring the playing equipment's (Swings, See-Saw).Hopefully,

these can be attended post bandh at their place. abhaya is satisfied with

management of the school and noted that extra charts were brought for classrooms. All the teachers have assumed their

individual responsibilities and they are doing their job satisfactorily. Padmavathi, HM

Girijan Vikas Kendra School Updateabhaya thanks all its supporters with whose help we could pool in a lot of material for GVSK. The students were shining in

uniforms with ties and belts provided by abhaya (Laxmi Sai Study Aids, Hyderabad). Words cant express their joy on receiving

clothes which they are so fondly wearing. A big thanks to Dell/ DQ Entertainment teams who lent their helping hands in pooling

kids wear. However the work doesn't end there and we need to pool in much more. We need food grains, computers, blankets and

financial help to support and sustain the school. We appeal to everyone for lending their support for this Godly cause. Lets not

allow those smiles to diminish one bit. It's abhayas pledge that Each and every thing given to abhaya reaches the most needy in

THE BACK GROUND: KGBV Kids calling!!!!

A well-wisher of abhaya met project officer of KGBV (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayams), and was

moved by her anguish and Concern about the incidents happening in the schools lately. She expressed

subsequently the morale of the inmates was so low that it made her feel helpless and wished that “God”

must send someone to lift their spirits. They somehow got to know about abhaya and approached us

with this unique request. And in typical abhaya style, the schedule was drawn and put into action in no

time.Trip was planned for 2 days spread across 7 KGBV Schools to address the issues raised by the

officers. The Primary Agenda was to create awareness on Self confidence, Personal Health and

Hygiene, Life skills, Communication Skills,Career awareness. What we didn’t know was what we are

going to learn from them in the process.

Undeterred by Chaotic traffic and incessant rains we

embarked on our journey, that would be to become

unforgettable moments in our lives.Our work started

from Madhanapally-Mulkalachervu where we

reached the first school in the itenary, i.e.,

We started work by 6.30 am with nearly 200

girls aged between 11 to 16 waiting anxiously for us.

They resided in hostel and were pursuing classes

from 6th unto 10th in KGBV. Somewhat amused

children gathered for a seemingly unsounded

assembly for a teeth brushing & bathing session. This

was followed by the Bathing session where a little

friend came forward for demonstration. Importance

of personal health & hygiene was explained in a very

novel way to them, which the children enjoyed

thoroughly. Post breakfast the children sat for

meditation and then thoughts on positive thinking.

This was followed by 15 minutes entertainment by CS

Santhosh, Ventriloquist, wherein he connected

teachers, students and volunteers with humour.

Little Stars @ KGVB... Who added colours to the LIFE

Awareness Update

Thereafter founder interacteddirectly with the kids, and the littleangels started connecting theirmind & heart with him. Theyexpressed a myriad of emotionsthey were going through which wasat time difficult to comprehend forthem. There was an underpinning offeeling of being wronged by life,almost questioning the fairness of it.At times they felt singled out, and atothers they fought a constant

struggle to overcome crippling thoughts of self-doubt, self-blame and pity. At this momentfounder started writing these thoughts on the black board and started explaining them ways to overcome such despair. They were oriented towards life skills, proper attitude towards career. Children started opening up more and shared that they wereunable to focus on studies because of negative thoughts about parents, poor memory, lack of focus etc. and a over feeling ofhelplessness. The list soon swelled to 30 problems that the girls brought forward in less than 10 minutes.

But the little ones finally saw some light at the end of the session when they started realizing how lucky they are in spite of all thisodds that they are able to get a chance to study and someone is there to take care of them. They started making effort to thinkpositively and turn the negatives into positives. The Session concluded with CS. Kamala talking about career planning anddistributed leaflets about career prospects for children who passed 10th class.

We asked them for feedback and this is what they had to say, “Sir’s we are so lucky that you have come all the way fromHyderabad to spend time with us. This really made us to tune our minds to be focused on our goals. Our minds were cloggedwith negative thoughts and we could clear all that today with your positive words. Thank you so much.” It was an emotionalmoment when amid ardent requests for staying back for more time, we bid them farewell and marched towards our nextdestination. These somber moments kept repeating over next two days while we visited another 5schools. School after Schoolwe came across similar stories, similar issues. It was heartbreaking to hear their stories and it was heart swelling to see theirbright faces post sessions. It egged us on to be more passionate towards this cause creating more energy at the subsequentvenues. It was difficult to express the kind of energy flowing through us during the trip.

Visiting Chittore KGBV’s was most memorable and divine experience. 2 days of physically

being there with abhaya’s founder and working for KGBV children was most unforgettable

thing in life. It helped us to refine and further strengthened us mentally. It was always tough

Seva Mela, a two day event is being organized at Hyderabad on 5th & 6th of October 2013

at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hitech City. This mela provides an interface between Non

Profit Organizations (NPOs) and Public. The event gives an opportunity for NPOs to share

information about several activities taken up by them to serve the under privileged. It

also gives an opportunity for people to see the good work being done by NPOs, appreciate

their work and support their work by making charitable contributions and also tie up with

them for volunteer activities. Nearly 100 NPOs, working for Education, Health,

Environment, Old Age, Disabled and Shelterless, Women and Child Welfare, and Social

Work Enablers and Resource Providers are expected to participate in Seva Mela 2013,

taking place on 5th and 6th of October, 2013. Volunteers and Donors visiting the Seva

Mela are welcome to look up the links of the participating NPOs listed at

http://www.yousee.in/events/1/seva-mela and commit and contribute to the volunteer

opportunities and in-kind donation requests posted by them.

conveyed by the NGO-- "you see", to brief about “ SEVA MELA" ,arranged

by them on 5th and 6th of October, 2013 at Hitex, Hyderabad. These are

the representatives from AGR & Associates, PS Rao & Associates,

Y.V.Rao& Associates, etc., who are closely associated with abhaya

foundation. There will be about 95 stalls at Hitex, wherein NGOs / NPOs

will be putting up their stalls during the 2 day period. The location is at the

ENTRANCE PLAZA,at Hitex, The stalls will be numbered and the allotted

stall has to be taken by the NGO. Each stall will have dimension of 2.5mts

by 2mts and will be given 1 table, 2 chairs, power point. drinking water will

be provided for the visitors, volunteers. It

Ramireddy to on his MISSION to spread the cause in the Corporate Schools with Team of

Visually Challenged Musicians: With the completion of construction, abhaya has started actively pooling

funds for its operational expenses. The plan is to conduct charity music shows at schools in and around

Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy District and collect donations for abhaya home. Mr. Rami Reddy came forward

to coordinate this effort. Keeping his experience in mind, abhaya appealed District Education Officers of

Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts to grant permission for approaching schools. Once we get approval,

the team will start their work and visit various schools for their permission to conduct the show.

Abhaya is planning for medals, awards and certificates of appreciation to the students, who would collect

highest donation in the school. If everything goes as per plan, the shows will start post dasara vacation in

the schools. We appeal all well wishers to connect with any school/college for conducting such events in

their known circles.

The venue was Mamata Medical College Auditorium and the audience was a

gathering of 1000 engineering, degree, postgraduate and medical students. It

was nothing short of euphoria. This was the reaction to Founders address to

the Vivekananda youth convention held under the aegis of Sri Ramakrishna

Math organized by Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, Khammam on

Monday 30th Sept 13. He spoke about the relevance and applicability of

Swamy Vivekananda even after 150 years of his existence. He explained how

his values can transform the youth of this country. He also talked about the 5

negative Cs... Cell phone, Cinema, Cable TV, Cricket and Chatting which the

youth should avoid and the 5 positive Cs... Confidence, Communication Skills,

Career, Community and Country on which the youth should concentrate. Such

was the impact of the speech that the students could feel as if the seedling of

Vivekananda’s thoughts inside them just got watered and it bloomed. The

energy reverberating through the premise created immense positivity among

the youth. We wish they would build on the insight they all gathered on this

momentous occasion.

The memories of recent visit KGBV

Chitoor district came rushing back

and were re-lived among those

Little Angels. The girls included 16

special kids (dead and dumb) who

just warmed our hearts with their

affection. The love and affection

that all the children showered on

the Founder was unexplainably

pious and serene. Yet again

Founder had a field day with them

playing, cracking jokes, enjoying

and finally speaking about their

fears, issues etc. He explained

them about positive attitude in life

and how to face obstacles, about

values and valuing what they

have. He spoke on health and

hygiene and importance of

maintaining it. It was yet another

memorable trip and learning

experience for abhayans at large.

We plan to conduct such events

more frequently in future and

appeal to like-minded individuals

to come forward with helping
