REFLECTIONS – Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time - It is one thing to hear about Jesus spending time with the sinners and outcasts of his day; but quite another to apply his example to our own lives. Are we expected to invite the homeless to our supper table or to join them at the soup kitchen? What are we to learn and apply from Jesus’ example? Could we make it a point to reach out to a coworker who is unpopular? Could it mean finding time to volunteer at a soup kitchen or make regular food donations to a local pantry? Consider one thing that the Spirit may be asking you to do differently in light of Jesus’ example and pray for the grace to do it.

“A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me.” - Psalm 51:10 Reprinted with permission from S.T. Productions.

Nativity Mausoleum Update Our sales campaign is underway for the construc-tion of new mausoleum crypts at Nativity of Our Lady. The new mausoleum is probably 1 year away from completion, therefore, the small num-ber of unsold crypts that we have in current in-ventory will be reserved for temporary placement for caskets of families who have bought in the new mausoleum and are awaiting completion of the new facilities. We wanted to make this infor-mation known so that you can plan accordingly for your family’s burial needs. If you would like to speak to a salesman from the Acme Mausole-um company, please call the church office for their contact information.

Volunteers need to be practicing Catholics (attend weekly Mass), able to receive the Sacraments, and Safe Environment trained (or we’d be happy to train you). Lessons to children of this age are pretty basic and would not require extensive preparation or experience on the part of the teacher. Teacher’s guide will be provided that lays out everything in detail. Please call Brenda at 365-3759 if you are able to help.

A meeting for 1st Communion parents and Con-firmation parents and students will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at 6 pm in Church. IS R.C.I.A. FOR YOU? Have you been searching for a Church home, and would like to learn more about the Catholic Church? Or, for whatever reason, you did not receive your First Communion or Confirmation when you were younger? The R.C.I.A. Program, the Rite of Chris-tian Initiation of Adults, would be the place for you. The R.C.I.A. is a process of catechesis (instructions in the principles of Christianity) and community building. This program is open to all non-baptized adults seeking to join the Catholic Church, as well as those willing to convert from another faith, and those baptized Catholics who would like to enter in-to full membership in the Church. The “Come & See” night is September 27th. If you would like more information, fliers are available at the entranc-es of church. Contact Father Mario at the church office - 364-8360

The Eucharist It is called the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith - The Holy Eucharist. But do we really understand its true meaning? In Fr. Mitch Pacwa’s The Eucharist: A Bible Study Guide for Catholics you will see the essential connection between the Eucharist and the Scriptures, and through reflection and discussion you’ll learn to apply the principles in your own life. In this study you will find answers to these questions and more: • Where do we see symbols of the Eucharist in the Old

Testament? • How do the Old Testament sacrifices prefigure

Christ’s sacrifice? • What did Jesus mean when he said “Do this in re-

membrance of me”? • Why is Jesus called the Lamb of God? • How do we meet Jesus in the breaking of the bread? The Eucharist will change the way you look at the Mass and allow you to meet Jesus as transformed by his gift of life. The Study Groups are available on Tuesdays at 9:00am and Thursdays at 6:10pm. They begin the week of Sep-tember 13th and conclude the week of October 25th. Please call Brenda Romero at 365-3759 to register for this study group.

Today’s special second collection is for The Catholic University of America, unique among uni-versities in the United states, as the national univer-sity of the Catholic Church. Nearly one third of all the U.S. bishops, archbishops, and cardinals in our country are alumni along with more than 12,400 liv-ing priests and religious from around the world. Lo-cated in Washington, D.C., the university provides an education based in Catholic intellectual tradition to nearly 7,000 students through its 12 schools - that include arts and sciences, music, engineering, philos-ophy, social work, law, and business, in additional to ecclesiastical degrees in canon law and theology. Your contributions will strengthen the work of our top scholars, many of whom help to explain Catholic social teachings to the rest of the world. It will also support scholarships for students in our diocese and others in achieving our mission of preparing the next generation of leaders for our Church and nation - including those studying to become our future priests and religious.

We appreciate your generosity.

We are pleased to announce that arrangements have been completed with Acme Mausoleum Corporation to build Phase 4 of our mausoleum here at Nativity of Our Lady. Acme Mausoleum has over 100 years of memorial experience and is the largest builders of mausoleums in the nation. They were the builders of our recent additions to our mausoleum and are here again offering the same trustworthy credentials and satisfactory service. Representatives will be contact-ing our families over the next few weeks to answer questions about the mausoleum and determine who is interested in making provisions for their fami-lies. The number of crypts selected before construc-tion will determine the size of the mausole-um. Spaces are reserved on a first come basis, there-fore anyone seeking information should either mail in the return card from the brochure being mailed to you, or by calling Acme at 1-877-620-7875. To be assured of a selection of your preference, you should reserve your space now. Additional brochures are located at the rear of the church for those who may not have received one in the mail.

Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 11, 2016

Reading I: Exodus 32:7-11, 13-14 • God has mercy on us. Reading II: 1 Timothy 1:12-17 • God has treated us mercifully. Gospel: Luke 15:1-32 • God is watching for us to return to him.

Theme: “Come home. God’s forgiveness is always there. God forgives before we even ask for forgiveness.”

CHILDREN: The father in this story welcomed his son home, even after he ran away and did bad things. How do you know God welcomes you after you do that? YOUTH: The prodigal son was welcomed home even though he had sinned. How hard is it for you to ask for forgiveness? Is it hard for you to believe that you are still loved even when you have sinned? ADULT: When you wander away from being true to your faith, how do you know God will take you back? What signs do you see?

Because our church bulletin is printed out of state, all Mass intentions and announcements should be submitted to the office at least two weeks prior to the requested bul-letin date. Thank you.
