Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time/ Decimo Qunito Domingo de Tiempo Ordinario 2016 (Year C/ Ano C)

Saint of the Week/Santo de la Semana St. Mary Magdalene/

Santa Maria Magdalena (July/ Julio 22)

Mary Magdalene was from Magdala near the Sea of Galilee. She was very beautiful and very proud and was well-known as a sinner when she first met

Jesus. But after she met Jesus, she felt great sorrow for her evil life and made up her mind to live a good life. When Jesus went to supper at the home of a rich man named Simon, Mary came to weep at his feet. Then, with her long, beautiful hair, she wiped his feet dry and anointed them with expensive perfume.

Some people were surprised that Jesus let such a sinner touch him. Our Lord who could see into Mary's heart said, "Many sins are forgiven her, because she has loved much." Then to Mary he said kindly, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

From then on, with the other holy women, Mary humbly served Jesus and his apostles. When Our Lord was crucified, she was there at the foot of his cross. She stayed with the Blessed Mother and St. John, unafraid for herself. All she could think about was that Jesus was suffering. No wonder Jesus said of her: "She has loved much."

After Jesus' body had been placed in the tomb, Mary went to anoint it with spices early Easter Sunday morning. She was shocked when she saw that the tomb was empty. Not finding the sacred body, she stood outside the tomb and began to weep. Suddenly she saw someone she thought was the gardener. She asked him if he knew where the body of her beloved Master had been taken.

Touched by her deep sorrow, the man spoke in a voice filled with love that she knew so well: "Mary!" It was Jesus, standing right there in front of her. He was risen from the dead. And he had chosen to reveal himself first to her. The Gospels tell us that Mary was sent by Jesus himself to announce the Good News of the resurrection to Peter and the apostles.

Reflection: St. Mary Magdalene was a sinner, yet Jesus forgave her. He could see that she loved much.

¿A quién buscas?

Nativity Church Out and About…..

The following poem by Nativity Parishioner,

Gilbert Lane, was published in the July 2016 issue of “jaFa’s Poet Corner” in the Mount Vernon Inquirer….

“Autism” Author: Gilbert M. Lane

Autism, the enigma that surpasses all mysteries.

Its spectrum pours out many magnificent and sorrowful stories.

Autism, the great divider of mansions of mind. It illuminates both true and false realities of

kinds. Autism has many different faces,

It does not discriminate between the races. Autism is spreading like a thousand wildfires, It tries to consume us in spite of our wishful

desires.

Autism is not the final chapter of this human condition.

It’s the beginning of new discoveries, and new inspiration.

We are the caretakers, we are the gatekeepers, we are the victors

Who will challenge, decipher, and cherish those who are afflicted,

But who stand undefeated.

Special Weekly Reflection

“Come to me” Come over to me, all you who are restless,

And I will teach you how to be quiet, How to leave yourself alone.

Come over to me, all you who are anxious,

Even if I don’t take your anxiety away, I will change it into fresh currency,

As you turn your cares Into greater belief in my caring.

Come over to me, all you who are lonely,

I was lonely too, And could find no place

To lay my head.

Come over to me, all you who worry What others really think about you

It doesn’t matter. They misunderstood me,

No matter what I did.

Come over to me, all you who are always Talking and pleading and explaining yourselves to others.

Page 8: Church of the Nativity of Our Blessed Ladynativityofourblessedladychurch.org/Bulletin_July_17_2016.pdf · Church of the Nativity of Our Blessed Lady ... Nicole Niles, Alfonso Ortiz,

Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time/ Decimo Qunito Domingo de Tiempo Ordinario 2016 (Year C/ Ano C)

I know you inside out. I know the worst.

So you can come to me without any explanations

Come over to me, all you whose great plans for yourself Have failed.

You don’t know how lucky you are. And others too.

Come over to me, all you who can’t stand yourselves.

I touched lepers, and once I called a man out of a tomb Who had been stinking there for four days.

So come over to me— I can stand just about anything.

Come over to me, all you who can’t stand other people.

I know what is behind their misery. I know the worst in them as I know in you.

And I embrace you both

Come over to me, all you who fret about the past. I was there, I was part of your past, and I have

Forgotten all about it. So be like me and forget it too.

Come over to me, all you who can’t live peacefully in the

Present. Come to me now, without reserve. That is the way to live

peacefully in the present.

Come over to me, all you who fear the future. Do not fear. I am your future.
