STEWARDSHIP OF PRAYER

2018 Mission Appeal—Today we listened to Archbishop Kaigama from the Archdiocese of Jos, Nigeria telling us about his work and ministry. Please return the white missionary contribution envelope, which you will find in today’s bulletin, to Blessed Savior next weekend or mail it to the Blessed Savior parish office. PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECK PAYABLE TO “BLESSED SAVIOR.” MARK “MCP” ON THE MEMO LINE. Thank you and God Bless.

Registration for next year’s faith formation classes is now under way. A discount is available for registering and paying before July 6th. Also, we are looking for eight

new Catechists to join our expanding program. Assisting as a faith leader is a wonderful way to donate your time and talent in service to Christ and His Church. Please contact Faith Formation Director Dave Liccione with any questions. (SMM) 414-573-9292 or e-mail [email protected] (BSP) 414-464-5033 ext. 13

Dear Parishioners, Join me in welcoming Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama to our parish. Archbishop Kaigama is the Archbishop of Jos, Nigeria. He has been the Archbishop of Jos for about eighteen years. He has served as the President of the Nigerian Bishops’ Conference. He has also served as the vice-President and President of the Episcopal Conference of West African Catholic Bishops. He has served as Chairman of the “Interreligious Committee for Peace” in Plateau State, Nigeria. He has been very involved in efforts to promote peace and mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims. Pope Benedict appointed him as a member of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization. Years ago when he was still Archbishop of Milwaukee, Cardinal Dolan invited me to his residence to meet his visiting friend from Nigeria, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama. Since then, Archbishop Kaigama and I have been good friends. This is his second visit to Milwaukee since Cardinal Dolan left Milwaukee to become the Archbishop of New York. He stayed with me both times. The first leg of his U.S. trip this year involved spending a week with Cardinal Dolan in New York. Now, he will be spending almost two weeks with us here in Milwaukee. Archbishop Kaigama’s mission appeal will involve the sharing of his experience as a bridge in the Christian and Muslim dialogue. It will also involve the tremendous effort involved in trying to address the needs of the poor and less fortunate in his Archdiocese. I encourage your generous response to his mission appeal. Please, return the white mission envelopes in this weekend’s bulletin by next weekend either in the collection basket or by mailing to the parish office. Make your checks payable to “Blessed Savior” and write “MCP” on the memo line. Have a blessed week. Fr. Romanus
