sus Christ and proclaiming the reign of God.

2 Welcome to St. Margaret Mary Parish

From A Grateful Heart “By one offering [Christ] he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated [the martyrs]. The Holy Spirit will also testify to us, saying: ‘I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write it upon their minds,’” he also

says:* “Their sins and their evildoing I will remember no more.” Where there is forgiveness, there is no long-er offering for sin. (Hebrews 10: 14-18)

JESUS WAITS FOR US TO RETURN The Church begins its year with a period of waiting and preparing for Christ’s coming of Salvation. We call it: AD-VENT. So, the weeks just before Advent are a time to re-member that Jesus predicted an end of time – “The Second Coming of Jesus”. So, in worshipping God we recall Jesus birth but, we also celebrate that promise of His Second Coming when he will complete the work of Salvation. This week we hear from the Book of Hebrews again and the author has Jesus tell us about the forgiveness of sins that His Resurrection will grant. It is a forgiveness that will bring hope to present sinners and to those struggling with sin at the end of time. The last days! This subject gets a lot of attention in the readings at the end of the Church year. The waiting for Jesus is a time to help the mission of God. God made us individuals, put us among others and asks us to use our free will to return to him (by obeying His teach-ings that tell us who we really are). The CHURCH YEAR comes with a cycle just like the calendar and we celebrate the cycle of waiting, beginning, learning and then maturing in the faith. Just like going through a calendar year the sane cycle gives us many changes to try again and again to “get it right”! Yes, Jesus wants us to “get it right”. Life has a reason and it involves everyone we find living around us. The life of a Christian is to live out the year maturing in the faith. That is to say, we learn from God in the words of Jesus, that we can make a difference and do have a unique purpose in life. We are hear to use our gifts, our talents, and our wealth to help each other and to come back to God as a Community. No Longer Individuals. God has made salvation a group participation event!

(continued next column)

(continued from previous column) That is why – at this time of year – I think of the Advent of our lives on Earth as a preparation for the Christmas in Heaven. God made us to return. The birth of each person gives them the opportunity to live and grow to know God and their purpose and to bring that life fulfilled back to the Creator in Heaven. We are made to return but, after a ma-turing. A maturing in the understanding that we have a pur-pose, we are needed, and we need to bring each other back to God as the unity Jesus prayed for at the Last Supper (in John’s Gospel) Yep! We need a time to prepare, learn and mature. For we are made with a purpose. Sin can keep us from that purpose and Salvation. Let us prepare well to bring humanity to-gether. That is God’s “Christmas Wish”! May the Heart of The Savior Bless you! Fr. Patrick Nelson, SDS

Mass of Remembrance Starting November 1st we will remember all those men and women who have gone before us, “marked with the sign of faith.” Beginning the weekend of October 27th and 28th you may bring in a picture or memorial card of your loved one and leave it on the table near the baptismal font. We will also enshrine the Book of the Names of the Dead and invite you to record the names of your loved ones in the Book for others to read, remember and pray for the repose of their souls. We will leave this table display throughout the month of November so that as a community we may look at them and remember our friends and family mem-bers. When we celebrate a Baptism, the assembly gathers around the font. We must also be present to those who are grieving so they are present to us in our grief. We are inviting those who have lost a loved one in the past year to come to Mass and invite your family and friends to Mass so together then we can pray “In paradisum deducant te angeli: in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyers, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem.” (May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.)

Deacon Paul extends a “thank you” to all who helped him fulfill the Seminary’s course requirements by filling out an

evaluation of his last couple of homilies.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Good and gracious God,

You do all things well. You make the sun and rain come,

nurturing the earth, making it fertile and fruitful.

Through Your gift of creation and the work of our hands,

we reap an abundant harvest. We give You thanks for Your many

gifts that sustain us; for health and home, dignified labor,

for family, friends, neighbors, and those whom -- today -- we may

still consider enemies. As we reflect in thanks this day,

may we remember those who lack something we have.

May our gratitude move us to love, serve, and give.

Together we rejoice in Your gifts, and in Your abundant life! Amen.
