Morningside Monthly Meeting Meeting for Worship With a Concern for Business Minutes 10/11/2015 Meeting begins at 12:15 transitioning from Meeting for Worship. The clerk encourages Friends to continue with Worship, now with a concern for business. The clerk reads Luke 10:48-52 about Jesus visiting Mary and Martha. Present: Jerry Reisig, Nancy Britton, Corona Machemer, Charlene Ray, Joyce Richardson, Ed Elder, David Fletcher, Robert Leuze, Elizabeth Horstman, Elisabeth McClure, Jean Vertheim, Dot Savage, Sally Campbell, Bryan Oettel, Karen Taborn, Richard Schmidt, Vince Buscemi, Helen Garay Toppins, Burr Eckstut, Larry White, Bart Dominus, Dave Britton, Lee Rada (clerk) 1. Jerry Reisig presents the Ministry and Counsel committee report. M&C met on 10/8/2015 and next meets 10/28. Bible Study continues on second Sundays. The next welcoming breakfast is 10/25 at 9:30 am in the Riverside cafe. There will be no fourth Sunday after- meeting discussion in October due to our hosting Quarterly Meeting here. Nineteen Friends attended the retreat at Stony Point. There are currently 9 clearness and support committees. Friends accept the report, which is attached. 2. The report of the Peace and Social Concerns committee is read. P&SC met on 9/20. We have scheduled 12/13 for the 2015 Amnesty International write-a-thon. We are exploring possible programs on how the community has helped Friends returning from having been incarcerated. We are exploring presenting a program on Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL). We continue to campaign for the HALT solitary confinement reform act in the NY State legislature. We have a 40 minute DVD on solitary confinement added to our Meeting library. We next meet on 10/18. Friends accept the report which is attached. 3. Jerry Reissig presents the Communications Committee report. The committee met on 9/20. Due to the recurring email spam problem the email server function is removed from the website, although postings to the website can be made by contacting the committee. We are preparing to have gmail accounts for each Meeting committee to use, and have begun restricting access to the site. The newsletter format is now being formalized. The next meeting is 10/18.
