ChildrenMini Courses is a lifelong education program designed for adult learners. Participants must be 18 years old to enroll in a Mini Course. Enrollees who are 16 or 17 years old may participate with concurrent paid registration and attendance by a parent/legal guardian. Children under 16 years of age are only allowed to enroll in courses specifically designated for their age group and/or in courses that state “parent and child” in the course description. For liability reasons, there are no exceptions to this policy.

Rusty Stirrups -- Beginning Horseback RidingIt’s never too late to learn how to ride! If you’ve always dreamed of learning to work with and around horses, this is the class for you. Spend time getting to know your mount, grooming them and preparing them for English-style riding. One hour each meeting is in the saddle learning the basics of English riding--control, communication, and form. Then spend time untacking your horse, working around them on the ground, and putting them away. Designed for beginners, all experience levels welcome. The Rock GymCampus now has a new fun way to play and work out at the same time - the climbing wall at Union South. We will start by learning the basics of climbing, safety and use of the climbing gym. Then explore climbing technique and skills for becoming a better and better climber. Finally we will explore ways to use the climbing wall as a part of your regular (and now more varied) workout and training. Build Your Own Fly RodThere is not much more satisfying than catching a trout on a fly rod you built yourself! Learn how to design and build your own fly rod. We will explore basic design, materials, construction steps and finishing techniques as you build a four piece, nine foot, 4wt fly rod. Course fee includes all materials and a rod sock (approx. $100 value) for your finished masterpiece. Be ready for the 2012 trout season with a new fly rod that you built yourself. Trout Fishing: A Life SkillAcquire a skill that will enrich the rest of your life! And just in time to get out there and take advantage of Wisconsin’s early trout season... We will explore the what, where, why, who and when of spin fishing for trout: the necessary equipment and skills to fool wild and wily native trout; the streams and rivers, along with specific bends and runs that will produce fish; blending in with streams and fields unchanged from long before civilization; the best times and conditions to fool and catch trout. Postural Alignment TherapyJoin the Pain Free Revolution! Postural Alignment Therapy is a non-medical approach to pain relief using targeted corrective exercises to resolve underlying dysfunctions. Using posture and gait analysis, and biomechanical testing, Postural Alignment Therapists are able to understand the cause of the pain. We do not chase symptoms, but seek to understand and correct the underlying dysfunctions causing the pain. Postural Alignment Therapy is also used by professional and amateur athletes to increase sports performance and prevent injuries. Bocce – A Real IntroductionBocce is an ancient game and is the third most popular sport in the world.

Learn how to play this highly social game and experience the joy of Bocce. We will cover some of the history of the game, how the game is played (on professional courts), and game strategy. Learn as you play using oyster shell professional Bocce courts. Bocce is a great game, accessible to almost anyone (courts are wheel chair accessible). All you have to be able to do is roll a two pound ball up to 90 feet. Presented in cooperation with the Four Lakes Bocce Association. Meets at the outdoor Bocce Courts on Marsh Lane in McFarland, WI. THE ROCK GYMCampus now has a new fun way to play and work out at the same time - the climbing wall at Union South. We will start by learning the basics of climbing, safety and use of the climbing gym. Then explore climbing technique and skills for becoming a better and better climber. Finally we will explore ways to use the climbing wall as a part of your regular (and now more varied) workout and training. Three courses rolled into one AND your course fee includes a one-month membership at the Union South climbing wall. Also includes climbing shoe rental, or bring your own. Designed for beginners, open to any level or previous experience. 3 Meetings. INSTRUCTOR: Casey Dahl, certified rock climbing Instructor and avid rock climber.
