As it is not possible to rely on hardware such as net-work cables (in a LAN) or household wiring (in adLAN) to control access to a WLAN, wireless net-working naturally presents special security challen-ges. WLANs therefore use a number of securitymeasures, such as a concealed network name, dataencryption and access control via the MAC addres-ses of the network adapters.

In many countries, Wi-Fi is alsoused synonymously with WLAN, which if takenstrictly, is incorrect, because Wi-Fi designates thewireless standard and WLAN the wireless network.

b If under WiFi WiFi networks, the Noencryption option is selected in advance,WPA2 is set automatically. The newly genera-ted password is displayed under WiFi WiFinetworks in the Key field.

b If under WiFi WiFi networks, the WPA/WPA2 option is selected in advance, this set-ting remains with the previously assignedpassword.

b Plug the dLAN 550 WiFi directly into a wall soc-ket. Avoid using power strips. This may impairthe transmission of the PLC signals.

b If there are several sockets in the wall directlynext to each other, they behave like a powerstrip. Individual sockets are optimal.
