avoid a low cloud layer that moved in. Group departed on time and on course at 12,000' with full 36 J.../C formation plus three spares.

4. Attack:
a . Flight to Target:
The 94th CBW stayed on the left of the column the entire route ae 1st C~ was late. o prop wash was encountered and route was flown a br iefed to CP#2 . Clouds were over channel and target but a 16, 000 1 penetration as an effective altitude. Let down waa de prior to CP H2 on Buckeye
recommendation. ~rget weather indicat d a 11, 000 ' bomb r un to be necessary so a let down was egun to 11, 000' in Hano r area so navig tor could obtain win~ . Group overshot turn at turn before IP 10 m.ilea and could not get ba.ok on c~1rs as 94th "B" and 'C" were bombing another target between our posltion an our briefed course. Group went in East of briefed course but seather s clear and target was pick d up and bombed effectively with 36 A/C.
b . Dombing ~:
In trying to avoid so e flak areas we got a little off course and isaed the IP by about 8 to 10 miles . ~e unoovered,
de the turn, and got on a good heading for the target . e were£irst in. The bo' hardier picked up the target, synchronised on the assigned I and aalvoed his bo bs with excellent results. All other ships aalvoed on him. The AFC8 worked okay.
e unocvered at the IP to make individual squadron visual runs . There were no clouds in the sky but haze reatri cted visibility a ewhat . The b bardier had drift and the tangent preset f!ui te accur tely. As we neared the release point the bombardier saw that the lead sqUfidron hit the -I squarely •• he changed his a i ing point to a point outside of the lead's s oke and. dawn the tracks a little. All ships sal voed . !he AFCE was okay. Results were excellent .

Cloud layers at 15,000' caused the group to climb up through a thin layer to reach t e top. 94th "A" group withdrew at 21,600' abov oyeroaa · with 36 A/C along bri fed course. Group stayed on top of overcast crossing channel but le t down to 13, 000' -on top.
