LOCUS/positiona project in SculptureBarbara Glynn Artist Ireland 2013

Task;

Create a sculpture project based onLOCUS/POSITIONPoint of focus chosen for work;the Locus of Control

Artist David ShrigleyTurner Prize 2013In a critical analysis of Kohibergs contributions to the study of moral thought we find the terms; mature moral thought and moral maturityF. E. Trainer

Chosen object of focus for task;

A mundane everyday object.

With potential to nudge the viewers behaviour into a possible outcome.

Nudge = thought provocation

I focus on the moment we choose paper cups over ceramic cups when we are aware paper cups are creating waste(23lbs of waste are created per annum - per single paper cup use)

Presenting a moral/mature/informed/decision/debate

1st task = to change the viewers view of the object

... to develop greater awareness of the mundane objectits identity had to be strengthened.

Creation of - a new similar form - placed in the location of the original attempted to draw viewer attention

A process was undertaken

process of creating a new view of an object

new view in progress...

new view of the object in its original location nudging the viewers response to the forms value

Process of evaluation is current; Ceramic cups have been removed at location (Campus) due to high demand for non-reusable cups and loss or breakage of ceramic cups (Dec, 2013)

Research indicates energy consumption in the manufacturing process of ceramic cups non viable due to loss, breakage and high energy in the use of kiln

Plaster cast stack of cups makes a sensory nudge for users and raises awareness of cups issue on location
