Work Portfolio

DRILL-POWERED VEHICLE FALL 2015

• Technical Coordinator/Copilot• Modeled many of the parts in SolidWorks• Used SolidWorks simulations to find most

weight-efficient frame• Won first place in race against 20 teams• Personally welded and machined much of the

custom frame

SHELL ECO-MARATHON COMPETITION TEAM FALL 2016-SPRING 2017

• Section leader and systems engineer for chassis and propulsion section (7 students) of Senior Design team

• Further developed machining skills with CNC mills, lathes, coping machines, tube bending, and MIG and TIG welding

• Modeled parts and simulated real world stresses using SolidWorks• The Shell Eco-Marathon is a competition which brings teams from

all around the Americas to race custom-made vehicles for maximum efficiency

• The CU team is building battery-electric prototype for the first year

DROPLET IMPACT PHOTOGRAPHY DEVICE SUMMER AND FALL 2016

• Mechanical engineering independent study• Built circuitry for timing system using an Arduino

microcontroller• Worked with one other student to design and

manufacture a highly-functional device to capture artistic photographs of a droplet colliding with the jet from a previous drop

IMPROVED DRILL SLEEVE FALL 2016

• Graduate design course• Designed and fabricated many preto- and prototypes

based off of direct user feedback to ensure a high quality and viable product

• Uses a spring to keep sleeve extended for easier use, a rubber stabilizer to keep a screw on axis, and slots for increased visibility

FOREST TREBUCHET SUMMER 2015

• Designed and built functional trebuchet using only rope, dead aspen, doweling, and a bucket

• Lead a group of friends in the design and building process and later to victory against the hill people of southern-central Colorado

SKI FURNITURE SUMMER 2014 TO PRESENT

• Started branch of Colorado Ski Furniture in my personal woodshop in Boulder, CO• Contract for individual customers and Colorado Ski Furniture in Manitou Springs, CO• Lead designer and builder
