Celebrate Good Times (Come On)
And if that song is now stuck in your head, keep it there until Sunday, October 7, because it’s Harvest Day! And if you don’t know that song, look it up. It’s quite catchy. It’s been a busy year at Knightdale Baptist since we last gathered for Harvest Day. In the time that’s passed, so much has happened that at this writing it’s difficult to remember everything. Of note, though, is the service we’ve had provided through different areas of ministry. We were blessed to have Rev. David Mellnik share his incredible gifts in music with us for several months as Associate Pastor of Music and Worship, and look forward to welcoming him back to lead us for this year’s Harvest Day. KBC was able to dust off another program in securing a Summer Intern this year. Melanie Pyles from Campbell University led in David’s wake, gathering good experience to carry her forward into a new position with a church in Lillington. Knightdale Baptist was able to provide a teaching atmosphere to enable a young woman to further discover her own gifts, talents, and calling in ministry. Our youth embarked on yet another successful mission endeavor this Summer with their work in West Virginia. Coming back, they shared of their trip and how the unity and comradery inspired those around them. Already plans are being made for more opportunities to provide assistance in areas affected by Hurricane Florence, and you can be assured our youth will be at the forefront. Each passing year also provides us an opportunity to celebrate the extended tenure of our church staff. Our Office Administrator and musicians are each approaching nearly two decades of service to KBC. Of course, what would a year at KBC be without activities like Upward, the Spring Bazaar, and Vacation Bible School, where the solidarity of our church family is on display through collective team efforts that live up to our mission statement, Reaching Lives for Jesus. An extension of our Spanish ministry saw a change in leadership as Pastor Frank transitioned to a new position, and we welcomed Pastor José and his family to continue the vital work that was being done. Under the leadership of Pastor José, the Spanish ministry sponsored an ESL outreach that grew from 8 attendees to more than 30 in just a couple of weeks! Certainly the Spirit is moving at KBC, and whatever challenges are ahead, we know that God is faithful and will continue to bless us with so much for which to be thankful. As we approach another Harvest Day, a day set aside to remember our past as we forge ahead to a bright future, one thing is for sure. It’s a celebration. So bring your good times, and your laughter, too. We’re gonna celebrate with good friends, with church family, and in our church home.

Please bring non-perishable food items for the UMC Food Pantry (a grocery list can be
found in the vestibule of the Sanctuary).
These items are in high demand for our neighbors and
they need our HELP!
Mission Committee
Please note: If for some reason you are not available to help on the day that you volunteered to work, we ask that you please don’t forget to find a replacement for yourself so
there is adequate coverage during the worship service. Also, if you have a change in the schedule for the children’s nursery or children’s church, please contact the monthly coordinator so that the change can be made prior to the printing of the worship bulletin. However, any permanent
changes in the schedule should continue to be handled by the lead coordinator.
Thank you for all your help
Flowers For 2019 The flower committee asks that if you would like to reserve a date
in 2019 to place flowers in the church for a Sunday morning worship service, please contact Patty in the church office. Beginning in 2019, the flower committee will no longer post
a flower calendar in the education building. Thank you!

Gospel Concert Series On Saturday, October 13th, The Glorymen and Tiffany will be here at
6:00 PM in the Sanctuary. A love offering will be accepted.
A fellowship gathering will follow downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a dish to share and invite your friends and neighbors.
Think Green This Fall
Autumn makes us think of red and yellow falling leaves, of plump orange pumpkins,
and of gooey, bronzed marshmallows over a campfire. So why are you being told to
Think Green This Fall? Because crisp new dollar bills are green, and crisp new dollar
bills are what we want to see in our Harvest Fund Basket this year AND in our weekly
tithes and offerings. Remember, the Harvest Fund Collection is above and beyond your
regular giving. Your generosity will allow KBC to replace the upstairs air conditioner in
the Education Building, and your regular tithes and offerings will allow KBC to contin-
ue reaching lives for Jesus so we can fill those classrooms. Your help is needed to make
KBC $green$ again.
Church Business Conference “Timber!” is a warning call. Please plan to attend the October 21st Church Conference
Meeting to learn why this warning call is necessary and why your help is needed to make KBC sustainable and $green$ again.
2019 Budget Slogan: EverGreen Jeremiah 7-8 says “…blessed are those who trust in the
Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered
by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
In keeping with these verses and looking optimistically toward KBC’s future, the slogan for the 2019 Budget
Preparation is EverGreen. Budget planning begins in October and the goal of the Finance Committee will be to present a budget that is reasonable, obtainable and sustainable. We are only able to do that with your help.
Every committee, staff member and volunteer that spends KBC funds is asked to prayerfully consider their budget needs for 2019 and submit a budget request to Becky
McConkey at [email protected] by October 10th. Be sure to explain how the funds will be used. If you need help with your request, let Becky know. Remember that a request is needed for every budgeted line item.

Fall Festival The Outreach Committee needs your help! They are asking for Sunday school classes and
individuals to donate candy for Fall Festival, volunteers to act as guides and to interact with visitors, and volunteers for Trunk-or-Treat. They are also asking for volunteers with a talent to share, such as balloon animal makers. If you can help, please contact James
Lucas.

your additional monetary donation. If this is a ONE
