Summer School@ Appleford

Babylon Summer Schools offer something for everyone. Young

Learners can choose between our countryside residential

programme for 10-14 year olds @ Appleford, or our Homestay

Both programmes offer 15 hours of morning lessons each week

and an exciting choice of afternoon and evening activities and

weekend trips.

The Babylon Summer School @ Appleford promises you a fun-

It will also be a great opportunity for you to make friends with

young people of the same age from around the world.

Whichever course you choose, your comfort and safety is very

important to us and we will do our best to ensure that everything

runs smoothly. All our staff are fully qualified and vetted in

accordance with British law and the requirements of accrediting

bodies such as the British Council and English UK and there will

always be a sympathetic person you can turn to if you have a

problem.

and sports will mean that there is never a dull moment and will

ensure that you have a summer holiday to remember for the rest

of your life.

LocationAppleford School

The Babylon Summer School @ Appleford uses

the facilities of Appleford School on the edge

of the village of Shrewton in the heart of the

beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Appleford is a

private co-educational boarding and day

school and has residential accommodation for

85 young people and extensive sports facilities,

including tennis courts, an indoor sports hall

and a climbing wall.

Shrewton is 18 kms north of the medieval

cathedral city of Salisbury, which is home

to the main Babylon School of Languages,

and just 5 kms from the celebrated world

heritage site of Stonehenge. Many of the

Accommodation and Meals

Residential accommodation is available at

Appleford. The accommodation consists of

comfortable dormitories for between 4 and 6

young people, which will be allocated to boys or

girls of a similar age but of mixed nationalities so

that young people are encouraged to practise

their English. The accommodation will be

supervised at all times by Babylon house leaders.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are sociable times,

when students, staff and group leaders get the

chance to enjoy a meal together and talk about

the day’s events.

We know how important food is for young people

and we will ensure that everyone enjoys a varied,

nutritious and balanced diet for breakfast, lunch

and supper.

Breakfast for the boarders will consist of a healthy

selection of cereals, toast, orange juice and tea or

coffee with an English cooked breakfast also on

offer on most mornings.

Lunches offer a choice of hot courses and an

extensive salad bar with fruit and yoghurt for

pudding; you will be provided with packed lunches

on excursion days. In the evening

there will be a full 2-course meal

and a salad bar.

There will be a vegetarian option

at all meals and we can cater for

special dietary requirements for

an additional charge if required.

part of all our lessons Many of

(CLIL), ensures that lessons

will be engaging and

stimulating.

Harry PotterThe Warner Bros Studio

weeks or more will be able to

join this excursion, which will

be combined with a visit to the

Royal City of Windsor.

Cheddar GorgeExplore Britain’s biggest gorge

with its dramatic cliffs rising

450ft from the valley floor and

the stunning stalactite caverns,

which were once home to

our prehistoric ancestors. This

excursion will also include a

visit to Weston-super-Mare

which is a traditional English

seaside town, where you can

have fun on the beach and in

the amusement arcades on

the pier.

LondonLondon is just two hours
