Travel FellowshipSponsored by: Metropolitan Design CenterLocation: Mumbai, India

Conducted independent research on inadequate housing and homelessness for 5 weeks in Mumbai, India for the Metropolitan Design Center’s undergraduate travel fellowship.

Photo taken in Dharavi, often referred to as ‘the largest slum in Asia’ and ‘a city within a city’.

In cities like Mumbai, people are able to (and continue to) build modest homes for themselves. The challenge is less about housing and more about providing access to infrastructure. This is a proposal for a platform that squatters can build upon and tap into water, sanitation, and energy infrastructure.

Meeting WallCourse: Design FundamentalsSchool: Montana State University

A ‘wall’ located in a remote area along the North American Pacific coastal region, where two travelers meet annually on the spring equinox - one arrives by land and the other by sea. Within this ‘wall’ there is a place for solitude and reflection as well as a celebratory space for togetherness.
