WOMENS CLOTHING STORE, NEW YORKVince Camuto flagship, soho

The design for the Vince Camuto flagship store is based on the creation of several bespoke material finishes and moments of ambient glow. Backlit acrylic, backpainted glass, white oak flooring and a radiant membrane ceiling

interact to create a rich and warm retail environment.

The creation of bespoke furniture pieces for a retail store in Soho, New York. I worked on the creation of shop drawings, coordinating with a local furniture maker. My involvement in the project also included negotiation and correspondence with vendors and craftsmen.

Cleveland is one of a series of formerly prosperous cities that have seen a steady decline in population within the last few decades, leaving a series of vacant buildings scattered across the city. The design intention is to create a series of temporary structures that inhabit vacant buildings, seeking to reactivate the space and provide local people with valuable social services such as job training and library space.

The library and classroom units are intended to be low-cost and easy to manufacture to allow for versatility in use. The walls are constructed with fluorescent strip lights embedded into a light gauge steel frame with polycarbonate panels on the exterior of the wall. The interior wall panel is 1/2” plywood painted white on both sides. The intention is to create units that can operate as closed spaces while also allowing for the unit to open out through a series of folding walls and ramps. The dimensions of the units are defined by the column grid of the existing industrial site, with the intention being to allow the interventions to operate independently. This allows for the system to function independently of the building whilst at the same time being defined by the structural geometry of the space. The units open out into the vacant spaces left over that have been illuminated by colored lighting, creating an fluidity between inside and outside. The use of bookcases that face inside and outside is intended to promote

the inhabitation of the space surrounding the interventions.

studio housing/ urban farming

The project aims to explore issues related to the re-use of industrial sites located in formerly thriving sea ports. The site at Pier 70 in San Francisco contains a number of industrial buildings that were until recently the economic

and social heart of the city. The design intention is to create a series of linear agricultural units embedded into the existing fabric of a vacant warehouse. These units operate with hydroponic growing systems to provide a high yeald of vegetables to be distributed at street level by market stalls. The intention being to create a

sustainable model for busy social space. The arrangement of program relates to the idea of separating public and private along a vertical axis. Within the area defined as ‘public’ there are several public and semi-public recreational spaces that are elevated from ground level. The private living units exist within an elevated plane toward the top of the building, providing access to views across the San Francisco bay. The architecture aims

to exist as a separate entity from the existing structure- providing a clean modular system that encourages the existing building to be occupied in new

ways.
