At The Cody Shooting Complex & Triple KB RanchThis year’s pheasant hunt will be for youth 10–17 years of

age that hold a Valid Hunter Education Card. We’ll begin at the Cody Shooting Complex for gun safety with instructors then trap shooting, then move to the Triple KB Ranch and Bird Farm on Lane 16 off the Powell highway for the hunt (watch for signs). Each hunter will have the opportunity to take two birds while hunting over pointing dogs*. Hunters should dress warmly.

The hunters should have two boxes of shells: one with shot size 8 for trap and the other 4–6 preferred for hunting. Guns and shells can be provided if needed. Adults are encouraged

and refreshments will be provided and several items will be 2 Grand Prizes: boys and girls 20 GA Shot Guns

donated by Rocky Orgill.* We will provide dogs for this event. Please do not bring additional dogs.

Th e 13th Annual Bob Messier Jakes Day Pheasant Hunt took place on Feb 11, 2013. Th is event is hosted by the Northwest Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Bighorn Basin Chapter of the Pheasants Forever.

Th is year’s event hosted 61 kids ranging from 9–17 years of age from as far away as Billings,

Riverton, Casper and throughout the Big Horn Basin. Th e day started at the Cody Shooting Complex where the kids learned about gun safety and got the opportunity to shoot a round of Trapp. Th ree young individuals were the lucky winners of guns that were donated by Rocky Orgill & NWTF with others winning

hats, backpacks and other goods.Even though the weather was

one of the coldest days for this event it did not keep the kids from enjoying the outdoors having the opportunity to hunt which for some was the fi rst time and to spend time with their parent/s or mentor.

Th ank you to all the volunteers for their hard work and a special

thanks to the Cody Shooting Complex, TripleKB Ranch & Bird Farm, Cody Dairy, Albertson’s, Pepsi, Coke, Sweetheart Bread. A big thanks also to the Wyoming Game Warden’s Association for providing the one day hunting permits to all the children who needed them.

Th is special event could not happen without the community support at both the NWTF & PF banquets held in Cody and Powell each year.
