Anger• From time to time we all deal

with anger. It is a primary emotion

• While it has its purpose it must be controlled

we are exposed of wrong• The depth to which anger can

take us• How we respond is a choice – Genesis 4:6-7

Moses• A godly man who became

angry from time to time • At. Mt. Sinai – Ex. 32:19-20•Numbers 16:15 – Korah•Numbers 20:10-11 – at

Meribah

Moses• Even the righteous can become

angry• While anger is justified at times,

you can still control your response

• Even if you are righteous, a moment of poor judgment can have consequences

Balaam• A corrupt prophet who was

greedy.• In New Testament, also negative

– Jude 11, 2 Peter 2:15Revelation 2:14

•Numbers 22:22, 27 in anger, he struck his donkey, then he spoke to her

Balaam• For some, anger is a

disposition that grows worse as circumstances deteriorate

• Hot anger can lead to irrational things

• ? If one is not truly faithful to God, will he be more disposed to anger?

Naaman• A general in the Syrian Army• Told by a Jewish captive girl

about Elisha – 2 Kings 5•2 Kings 5:11-12 He

becomes angry when told to dip in the river Jordan 7 times.

• When he finally obeys, he is healed

Naaman• Sometimes anger comes

because of unreasonable expectations.

• Sometimes pride, etc. can provoke anger

• Anger can keep up from doing what we ought to do.

The Prodigal’s Brother• We are familiar with the prodigal

son – Luke 15:11-32• When the prodigal son returns

and a feast is given for him, his brother is angry and refuses to participate –Luke 15:28-32 he is rebuked by his father

The Prodigal’s Brother• Ungodly attitudes can lead to

anger, when those we look down upon prosper.

• Envy and jealousy are examples of these attitudes

• Anger can cause us to fail to rejoice with those who rejoice (Rom. 12:15)

Is It Right To Be Angry?•Ephesians 4:25-27•James 1:19-20• Even Jesus became angry - Mark 3:5, John 2:13-17, Matt. 21:12-13 – driving out the money changers. BUT Jesus always maintained His composure and did not sin!
