- 1. 1Now when David and his men came to Ziklag onthe third day, the Amalekites had made a raidagainst the Negeb aand against Ziklag. They hadovercome Ziklag and burned it with fire2 and taken captive the women and all who were init, both small and great. They killed no one, butcarried them off and went their way.3And when David and his men came to the city,they found it burned with fire, and their wives andsons and daughters taken captive.
2. 4 Then David and the people who were with himraised their voices and wept until they had no morestrength to weep.5Davids two wives also had been taken captive,Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabalof Carmel.6And David was greatly distressed, for the peoplespoke of stoning him, because all the people werebitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. ButDavid strengthened himself in the LORD his God. 3. 7And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son ofAhimelech, Bring me the ephod. So Abiatharbrought the ephod to David.8And David inquired of the LORD, Shall I pursueafter this band? Shall I overtake them? Heanswered him, Pursue, for you shall surelyovertake and shall surely rescue. 4. 1 LORD, how many are my foes!How many rise up against me!2 Many are saying of me,God will not deliver him.3 But you, LORD, are a shieldaround me,my glory, the One who lifts myhead high. 5. Sometimes there are noencouragement from others.Sometimes it seems there areno encouragement from God 6. 23Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciplescame to him and urged him, Send her away, forshe keeps crying out after us. 24 He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheepof Israel. 25 The woman came and knelt before him. Lord,help me! she said. 26 He replied, It is not right to take the childrensbread and toss it to the dogs. 27 Yes it is, Lord, she said. Even the dogs eat thecrumbs that fall from their masters table. 28 Then Jesus said to her, Woman, you have greatfaith! Your request is granted. And her daughterwas healed at that moment. 7. 7And David said to Abiathar thepriest, the son of Ahimelech,Bring me the ephod. SoAbiathar brought the ephod toDavid. 8 And David inquired of theLORD, Shall I pursue after thisband? Shall I overtake them? Heanswered him, Pursue, for youshall surely overtake and shallsurely rescue. 8. Inquire from the Lord throughprayerInquire from Gods wordInquire thru good and wisecounsel 9. 8And David inquired of the LORD,Shall I pursue after this band?Shall I overtake them? Heanswered him, Pursue, for youshall surely overtake and shallsurely rescue. 10. The gatekeeper opens the gatefor him, and the sheep listen tohis voice. He calls his own sheepby name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all hisown, he goes on ahead of them,and his sheep follow him becausethey know his voice. 5 But theywill never follow a stranger; infact, they will run away from himbecause they do not recognize astrangers voice. 11. Yes you can hear God.Listen to Gods voice withinyour heart. 12. David recovered all the lostbecause he listened to God andobey the Lord.
