From the Swirl - Green (J), cut:• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 1 ½” x 52 ½” strips.• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 1 ½” x 50 ½” strips.

From the Novelty Stripe - Multi (K), cut:• (4) 10 ½” x 76” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.

From the Cardinals - Gray (Backing), cut:• (2) 80” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 80” x 80” back.

Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip and (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip together lengthwise to make (1) EE strip set (Fig. 1).

2. Cut the EE strip set into (10) 2 ½” x 10 ½” Unit 1 strips (Fig. 2).

3. Sew (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip, (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip and (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip together lengthwise to make (1) GG strip set (Fig. 3).

4. Cut the GG strip set into (10) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Unit 2 strips (Fig. 4).

5. Sew (1) Unit 1 strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” Fabric A square. Sew (1) Unit 2 strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 5). Repeat to make a second Block One square.

6. Sew (1) Unit 1 strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) Unit 2 strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric C square to make (1) Block Two square (Fig. 6). Repeat to make a second Block Two square.

7. Sew (1) Unit 1 strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” Fabric B square. Sew (1) Unit 2 strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric B square to make (1) Block Three square (Fig. 7).

8. Sew (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strip and (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip together lengthwise to make (1) FG strip set (Fig. 8). Repeat to make a second FG strip set.

9. Cut the FG strips sets into (32) 2 ½” x 4 ½” Unit 3 strips (Fig. 9).

10. Sew (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip and (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strip together lengthwise to make (1) EG strip set (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (3) EG strip sets total.

11. Cut the EG strips sets into (48) 2 ½” x 4 ½” Unit 4 strips (Fig. 11).

12. Sew (2) Unit 3 strips together lengthwise to make (1) Unit 5 block (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (16) Unit 5 blocks total.

13. Sew (3) Unit 4 strips together lengthwise to make (1) Unit 6 strip (Fig. 13). Repeat to make (16) Unit 6 strips total.

14. Sew (1) Unit 6 strip to each side of (1) 6 ½” Fabric D square. Sew (1) Unit 5 block to each end of (1) Unit 6 strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric D strip to make (1) Block Four square (Fig. 14). Repeat to make (4) Block Four squares total.

15. Sew (4) 2 ½” Fabric I squares and (3) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strips together end to end and alternating them to make (1) Sashing Strip (Fig. 15). Repeat to make (4) Sashing Strips total.

23. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 16), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners to make the quilt top.

24. Layer and quilt as desired.

25. Sew the (8) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

26. Bind as desired.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)16. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block One square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Four square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Two square and (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip together lengthwise to make Row One.

17. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Four square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Three square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Four square and (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip together lengthwise to make Row Two.

18. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Two square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Four square, (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block One square and (1) 2 ½” x 14 ½” Fabric H strip together lengthwise to make Row Three.

19. Sew the (4) Sashing strips and (3) rows, in numerical order, together alternating them to make the Center Block.

20. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 50 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

21. Center (1) 10 ½” x 76” Fabric K strip on (1) side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

22. Repeat Step 21 to sew (1) 10 ½” x 76” Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 16).
