From the Novelty Stripe - Multi (C), cut:• (2) 5 ½” x 52 ½” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.• (4) 6 ½” squares from the remaining fabric.

From the Rodeo Horse - Cream (I), cut: • (1) 17 ½” square.

From the Cowboy Motif Squares - Multi (Backing), cut:• (2) 75” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 60” x 75” for the back.

Block Assembly1. Sew (1) 2” x 16” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 11” x 16” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 2” x 14” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” x 17 ½” to make (1) Block One rectangle (Fig. 1). Repeat to make a second Block One rectangle.

2. Sew (1) 2” x 16” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 11” x 16” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 2” x 14” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” x 17 ½” to make (1) Unit 1 block (Fig. 2). Repeat to make a second Unit 1 block.

3. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric H strip to the top of (1) Unit 1 block to make (1) Block Two rectangle (Fig. 3).

4. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric H strip to the bottom of (1) Unit 1 block to make (1) Block Three rectangle (Fig. 4).

5. Place (1) 9” Fabric J square on the top left corner of (1) 17 ½” Fabric I square, right sides together (Fig. 5). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 5). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 6). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle 1/4" away from the sewn seam.

6. Follow Figure 7 for the seam direction to add a 9” Fabric J square to each of the remaining corners of the 17 ½” Fabric I square to make (1) Block Four square (Fig. 8).

7. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) 6 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 2 block (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (4) Unit 2 blocks total.

8. Place (1) 4 ½” Fabric F square on the left side of (1) 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Fig. 10). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 10). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 11). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

9. Place another 4 ½” Fabric F square on the right side of the 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric E strip, right sides together (Fig. 12). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 12). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) Unit 3 strip (Fig. 13).

10. Repeat Steps 8-9 to make (16) Unit 3 strips total.

11. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric G square to end of (1) Unit 3 strip to make the top row. Repeat to make the bottom row. Sew (1) Unit 3 strip to each side of (1) Unit 2 block to make the middle row. Sew the (3) rows together to make (1) Unit 4 block (Fig. 14). Repeat to make (4) Unit 4 blocks total.

Quilt Top Assembly(Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)14. Sew (1) Block Five rectangle to each side of (1) Block Two rectangle lengthwise to make Row One. Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks.

15. Sew (1) 2 ¾” x 17 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block One rectangle, (1) 3 ¾” x 17 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block Four square, (1) 3 ¾” x 17 ½” Fabric H strip, (1) Block One rectangle and (1) 2 ¾” x 17 ½” Fabric H strip together lengthwise and in that order to make Row Two.

16. Sew (1) Block Five to each side of (1) Block Three rectangle lengthwise to make Row Three. Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks.

17. Sew the (3) rows and (2) Sashing Strips together lengthwise and alternating them to make the quilt top.

18. Layer and quilt as desired.

19. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

20. Bind as desired.

12. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 16 ½” Fabric H strip to each side of (1) Unit 4 block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 20 ½” Fabric H strip to the top of the Unit 4 block to make (1) Block Five rectangle (Fig. 15). Repeat to make (4) Block Five rectangles total.

13. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric H strip to the top and to the bottom of (1) 5 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric C strip lengthwise to make (1) Sashing Strip (Fig. 16). Repeat to make a second Sashing Strip.
