End of term 2 – Finish Times

You could see they had missed each other, their teachers and the routine of school. values diversity and inclusion as more and more important. This is something we will continue to do as we embrace each child’s unique identity. To begin this conversation I have included the links to a couple of articles. At Hartwell we will continue to plan in our curriculum opportunities to celebrate acceptance and diversity, it is something we value. I look forward to sharing this conversation with you. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-to-talk-about-diversity-with-your-kids_b_5913a5b5e4b002274b946990 https://www.abc.net.au/life/how-to-raise-culturally-aware-kids/12292300 STUDENT REPORTING – SEMESTER ONE This week we will be sending out reports for Semester One. As previously highlighted the reports for this semester will be a general report with an overview of the curriculum the students have covered in Terms 1 and 2. We realise these reports will ‘look’ quite different as there is no formal assessment page or social skills page. The teachers have planned to complete assessments and be able to give an indication of achievements and learning goals in our parent/teacher meeting next term. We look forward to meeting with you. Please ensure you have the correct email address as all reports will be sent via the SENTRAL email system.

END OF TERM 2 – EARLY FINISH Please be aware that school will finish by 2.30pm next Friday 26th June. We will still use the staggered exit to ensure this is done safely. Therefore please note the times of dismissal next Friday: A-L: 2.00pm – 2.15pm M-Z: 2.15pm to 2.30pm

Lisa Banks Principal PE UPDATE It is wonderful to have all of our students back in Physical Education lessons here at school! It has been so pleasing and inspiring to hear of so much physical activity going on at home, over the remote learning period. Thank you and well done Hartwell Families! Obviously, we are still navigating some unknowns when it comes to the incursion/excursion government policy and of course the community restrictions, however as soon as I have information around Athletics Carnivals, Hoop Time events, Snowports, Gymnastics etc. I will be sure to pass on any information via our school newsletter.

SSV CROSS COUNTRY A reminder that School Sport Victoria have set up their ‘virtual cross country event’. I know some Hartwell families have already been out for a run or walk and posted their time on the site, which is fantastic. The event is open to all age groups. Let’s get on board and see how many Hartwell names we can list on the standings. Go to https://ssv.vic.edu.au/Pages/VirtualCrossCountry.aspx for all of the information including distances for each age group. Well done to the following students on a super effort in completing a run or walk and posting a time: Tom W. (S5B), Talulah Y. (S6B), Gracie R. (S6B), Isabel S-Y. (S5R), Jasmine S-Y (M3C), Lachlan B. (M3M), Heidi C. (J1B), Isabel S. (J2K) and our courageous Prep students Oliver B, Jacob B, Matilda C. and Lachlan S. What a sensational effort! I am looking forward to seeing more results posted over the coming weeks. GO HARTWELL! SNOWSPORTS The organisers of the annual Victorian Interschool Snowsports are very keen to run an event in 2020. How it will look, is still a work in progress. The event is scheduled to run at Mt. Buller from Monday 24th August to Sunday 30th August. Hartwell typically sends a team of keen skiers each year. The event is open to all age groups. Although the Hartwell entries are co-ordinated by myself, I do not attend the event. Parent organisation and supervision at the actual event is required at all times. Families are responsible for travel and accommodation arrangements. Furthermore, this is a competition, so participants need to be extremely competent skiers. All information pertaining to the event (divisions, age groups, events, dates, rules etc.) can be found at the following website: https://www.vicinterschools.com.au/ I am aware of possibly three Hartwell families who are interested in attending the event. If you are interesting in your child participating in the Interschool Snowsports this year, could you please contact me via email asap: [email protected] Thank you.

Looking forward to a great week in Phys Ed.

Jo Bayes PE & Sport Co-ordinator [email protected] MUSIC PROGRAMS Please note our music programs, ie Drum Band and Snr / Jnr Choir, are unable to continue for the remainder of Term 2. All going well we should be able to restart these groups in Term 3.

Art I hope everyone is enjoying being back at school! Although I’m still working remotely,

it has been fantastic to see and chat to some of my classes on Webex. Thanks to

Georgie Howarth and Steph Schiftan for doing such a great job in my absence!

Each class has their own movie and you’ll find these on the specialist remote learning

site Art page along with the children’s individual pictures. Or you can just copy and

paste the following Padlet links into your browser. Fantastic work Year 1!

Year 1 have made fish collages

using hand painted paper with

lots of texture. For a bit of fun,

I’ve animated these and made

some virtual ocean movies!

I also wanted to celebrate the work of some of our Year 3 – 6 children from their

last remote learning task. The challenge was to sketch themselves interacting with a

scene from anywhere in the world that they would like to visit. To see more, please
