Children’s Ministry FAMILY ADVENT CELEBRATION CANCELED The Family Advent event originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 30, has been canceled due to lack of volunteer support. Educational Ministries, Tim Leslie CONFIRMATION CLASS FOR GRADES 6 - 8 Beginning January 4 during Wednesday Advantage (5:30–6:15pm), students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to attend Confirmation Class in order to confirm their baptism. This class helps the student to consider the claims of Christ Jesus and the Christian Church, the truths of the Gospel, and the call to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The class will conclude on March 21 and students may come before the Session as early as Sunday, March 25, to join as active members of FPC. Evangelism and Missions, Brian Stewart PIES NEEDED FOR THE RESCUE MISSION With Thanksgiving just a week away, we are blessed with the opportunity to help provide a hot Thanksgiving meal for over 1,000 men, women, and children at the Rescue Mission. We need 54 pies to meet the 75 pies requested. Contact Char- lotte (cjoye@firstpresgreenville or 672.0309) with your pledge of a pie. Pies will be picked up at the church on Wednesday, November 23, at 10:00am. HELP FEED THE HUNGRY AT THANKSGIVING This year First Presbyterian is again sponsoring Boxes of Love, a ministry that shares the love of Christ with people in need at Thanksgiving. Each Box of Love contains a complete meal for six. FPC is committed to providing boxes to needy families at Mattoon Presbyterian and the Bel-Aire Community. Boxes will be packed and distributed on Saturday, November 19. Financial donations ($30/box) are needed, as well as volunteers to assist in distributing the boxes and meeting with the recipients. ALASKA MISSIONARIES VISIT DECEMBER 4 Stephen and Natalie Hall, FPC members and missionaries with Send North in Alaska, will speak on Sunday, December 4, in Harper Chapel during the 9:40 and 11:00am Sunday School hours. Plan to join them for an update on God’s work in the far north. MEDICAL MISSIONS LUNCHEON DECEMBER 11 Medical and dental professionals, their families, and all others who are interested: You’re invited to a luncheon on Sunday, December 11, 12:15–1:30pm in Fellowship Hall, to hear about opportunities for short-term medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Approved the 2012 terms of call for our permanent pastors; and Approved two procedures related to Congregational Meetings due to changes in the Book of Order: (1) Public notice of the meeting shall be given on two successive Sundays at each worship service; (2) The quorum of a meeting of the congregation shall be not less than one tenth of the members.
