August is always a very busy time of the year. Not only is it the Leprechaun Hunt time, but also harvest season for our red raspberries and blueberries. There are several items that have to be packed and stored from the Leprechaun Hunt. There are many tents, tables & chairs, markings from the parking lots etc. Then there are the yard signs – about 150 that need to be retrieved from various locations. And there are bills that need to be paid. I personally go around the grounds in an electric golf cart with a nail on the end of a stick to pick up the trash but I must confess that in spite of the larger numbers of people, there is less mess left. People have been very considerate of the property. God bless them! The harvesting of the berries is a lot of work also. We have about 1000 red raspberry bushes. We harvest them until the first freeze and use them to make raspberry apple sauce, pies and jam. This has been an exceptional year for blueberries. We will make plenty of blueberry pies with them. The harvesting of our chestnuts, almonds and black walnuts will take place a little later in the fall. I hope you enjoyed the Leprechaun Hunt! Many, many thanks to all of our helpers – close to two hundred faithful volunteers!! May God abundantly bless each one of our volunteers! SHARE FOUNDATION WITH THE HANDICAPPED P.O. THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORBy Kathleen Kelly

The six weeks of summer camp absolutely flew by this summer. It was a great year and everyone who participated agreed thatCamp Sharing Meadows is a special place. The St. Timothy Center camp building was alive with activity as friendships weremade and renewed and love was shared.

The theme for camp this year was “I Can Make A Difference” and that subject was discussed each morning during the valuessession led by camp coordinator Nick Roland. Each person stated the talents God blessed them with and then the discussionhelped them realize how they could use those talents to make a difference to make the world a better place. It was heartwarmingto see the joy on each person’s face when they realized that they had a contribution to make and could truly make a difference.

In addition to our amazing campers, we had an outstanding group of volunteers who served as the camp staff. Cathy McDowell, who has been coming to camp as a counselor for several years, stepped up to the role of camp director and did a fine job ofleading the program, mentoring the new staff and seeing that all aspects of camp ran smoothly. The group of camp counselorswere energetic and dedicated and not only made sure that the camper’s needs were met but that they had a good time also. Theaccomplished chefs in our kitchen served delicious meals that were enjoyed and appreciated by campers and staff alike. Eachweek we had a nurse who dispensed meds and made sure the campers stayed healthy. One of our nurses is so committed to ourcamp; she served for three weeks to see to the camper’s medical needs. God certainly blessed us with dedicated people andthey helped to make the camp a special place for our campers.

As each session ended the campers went home determined to use their abilities and talents to make a difference in the world.Camp may be over for another year but the campers take part of camp home with them in their hearts and look forward tocoming back. We look forward to many more years of God’s love at Camp Sharing Meadows.

SHARE GOLF CLASSICThe rain stayed away and the sun kept shining for the 23rd annualShare Classic Golf Outing as our guests gathered at the Long BeachCountry Club to enjoy a challenging game of golf, delicious food anddelightful company. Father Blaney blessed the fleet, a bagpiperplayed his beautiful music and the golfers were off for the scramblebest ball tournament to raise funds for the residential program atSharing Meadows.

The graciousness of the staff at the Long Beach Country Club wasappreciated by everyone in attendance. General manager AnnetteCorbett, golf professional Brian Godfrey and the entire staff werefriendly and welcoming. Everyone enjoyed a grilled lunch beforegolf and a delicious dinner after the round. Awards were presented tothe winners although the true winners of the day are the other abledindividuals who find peace and happiness at Sharing Meadows.

After dinner two villagers spoke of what living at Sharing Meadows means to them and then auctioneer ChuckMcNellis conducted a paddle raise and our guests generously responded by making donations to support the residentialprogram. Chuck then did a fine job of auctioning golf foursomes, sports tickets, entertainment packages and otherlovely items. After the auction, Father Blaney drew the winning tickets for the golf raffle and the lucky winners were:Carol Emro of St. John, 1st prize; Friend of Share Foundation (prize was donated back), 2nd prize; and John T. Siegalof Cedar Lake, 3rd prize who donated his prize back to Share Foundation! Thank you! Congratulations to the winnersand thank you to all who participated in the raffle.
