This Easter season, especially recognize the greatest love of all – God our Father’s love. God bless you in this! In March, two men who were influential to the Share Foundation, Al Tucker and Marty Collins, went home to be with the Lord. Al Tucker died and was buried on March 15 th , 2018. Al worked with other-abled adults for 50 years. He started this service with teaching special religious education courses in the Crown Point/Merrillville area. Eventually, he became involved in many aspects of the Share Foundation – serving on the board, cooking at our camps, cutting grass, helping at the Leprechaun Hunt, and many other activities. All of us, especially our Villagers, will miss him! Marty Collins died and was buried on March 17, 2018. Marty was the Share Foundation’s official photographer. Many of the pictures in past issues of the Good News and from our web site came from Marty. The Good News goes to 10,000 people. Our website has 80,000 to 120,000 hits per month. Marty was also a friend to many of our villagers and me. In fact, he was supposed to be the executive of my will. This year marks my 60 th year as a priest. I will celebrate this anniversary on June 3 rd at the Heston Banquet Hall starting with Mass at 2 PM, a dinner at about 3 PM, and a few speeches about 4 PM. The affair will end by 6 PM. To help plan, reservations are necessary! There is a slight cost of $20 per person. Checks can be made payable to me. Please help by making reservations early. THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR By Bill Harmon

When I commute to work every morning, I reflect on the endless hours of work and determination it took to create a program likeSharing Meadows. The community of donors and families, the members of boards present and past, our selfless volunteers, and,of course, our dedicated team of professionals have played critical and lasting roles in the formation of this beautiful oasis of hopeand passion. Each and every person who has been involved in the Share Foundation cannot be understated. What began as 185acres of undeveloped farmland in La Porte County, Indiana is now a thriving community of the sincerest and kindest people I’veever encountered. Now, I pick up the torch that has been passed to me by the leaders who have come before me.

My first three months in this position were focused on gaining experience with the day-to-day operations and, as I move forward,I will continue to learn how Sharing Meadows operates day in and day out. As I dutifully and methodically carry the momentumthat began before me, I look to the future with joy and optimism. Change is good! Change is appropriate and our efforts inpresenting Sharing Meadows has paid off most recently on social media – a tool that connects our mission to people locally andaround the world! Social media in all forms allows for our presence to be shown and for us to grow. The voices of the Villagersof the Share Foundation are being heard on ever-growing platforms like Facebook and, most recently, Instagram. I am proud tosay that our “Share Foundation with the Handicapped” Facebook page has over 1,000 followers looking at the Share Foundationposts. Make sure you like and follow our Facebook page if you haven’t yet! Our recently created Instagram account has becomea platform for volunteers and friends of the Share Foundation to follow the Villagers and campers while seeing the newest andlatest happenings in their lives! You can join us by following us at “share_foundation” on Instagram.

Additionally, when Sharing Meadows is represented at job fairs or volunteer fairs, people now see a new banner depicting theShare Foundation’s story proudly displayed behind our representatives table. This fresh new way of marketing will catch the eyesof college students and young adults so that they may become a part of our growing story. These efforts have already producedtwo new very qualified and loving stewards for our community! I am so thankful to be surrounded by a great team who works sohard to spread our mission to all whom they meet.

Boy, do we have a busy 3 months ahead of us! The team is gearing up for the 26th Annual Golf Outing and the Leprechaun Huntwhere we will continue to increase our efforts on branding our name and communicating the Share Foundation story through socialmedia. We will also be updating our marketing and increasing our awareness efforts throughout the community.

In addition to new marketing strategies, we are working on a new and exciting way for all of you to be connected to the Villagersin a uniquely spiritual way. Every morning, the Villagers gather into a “prayer circle” before work. In the prayer circle, theVillagers remember all of the people who have asked them to pray for specific intentions, and they purposely pray over theserequests. The prayer circle reminds the Villagers to be thankful for the people around them. We want you to actively participate inthe prayer circle by giving anybody who needs a special prayer the opportunity to have the Villagers pray for you, a loved one, ora special intention. Who all couldn’t use a little extra grace from these prayers? In the next three months, our team will bedeveloping an option for anyone to visit our website and click a link to submit a special prayer request that the Villagers will thenpray for weekly. In the words of Fr. Blaney “When the villagers pray, God listens.” Stay tuned for more details!

As we celebrate this Easter season, we are reminded of the great love that Jesus Christ has for all of us. It is my prayer for all of you during this Easter season that you find great joy in your life. Pray for me as the leader of Sharing Meadows and for continued health and happiness of our Villagers every day. I sincerely thank you for your support of our great mission and invite you to share the good news about the Share Foundation alongside with me. With all of us working together, our villagers will continue to call Sharing Meadows their home for their entire lives.

MOTHER’S DAYNext month we celebrate Mother’s Day! All of us should take this holiday to thank our moms for all they have done for us! Whatbetter way to do this than through honoring mothers in the May issue of our newsletter? We will have a special section for livingand deceased memorials in the “Good News Newsletter for the Other-Abled” to recognize and honor mothers. You can write yourown special message or we will write one for you and it will be printed in the May issue of our newsletter.

Submitting a memorial is a special way to thank a mother by making a donation in her honor or in her memory. The gentle and loving guidance your mother gave to you will continue to live on through your donation that provides our Villagers with a loving and nurturing environment. Mother’s Day memorials need to be received in the office NO LATER than Monday, April 16th to be included in the May issue. Thank you for choosing to honor your mother in this special way!

KEEPING UP WITH CAMP!By Emily Barsic

I looked down at my meticulously prepared Value Session paper, drew a shaky breath, and asked, “Well, we know that thisshamrock reminds us of Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit, but who is the Holy Spirit? How do you know the Holy Spirit is alwayswith you?” Complete quietness filled the air for a few seconds before one camper raised her hand, not looking up because tearsdripped from her eyes. “I think the Holy Spirit comforts me. When I saw my grandma die last week, it felt like He gave me a hug. Now, I know He is always with me, even when I’m scared.”

The theme of the March Mini-Camp was “As Close as a Clover.” Throughout the weekend, we reminded each other that God isn’thard to understand because He gives us clovers and shamrocks to help us become closer to Himself and to learn more about theTrinity. We learned that talking about the Trinity is as easy as sharing a clover with a friend. Every time we saw a shamrock, whether it was on a coloring page or on the marshmallows in our cereal bowls, we remembered God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit isalways with us.

This message resonated throughout the entire camp in every activity! We became closer to God and one another through eatinggreen Lucky Charms pancakes, sprayed-gold Oreos, and drinking Shamrock Punch! Even the dance and photo-booth withshamrock glasses and other fun items were a hit! (Feel free to checkout our Facebook page for all of the photos!) We’re alreadylooking forward to April’s Mini-Camp! Would you like to have some fun with us and grow closer to God through growing closerto our campers? We have a dire need for more male and female counselors for the next two Mini-Camps. If you feel called to servein this way, please call Emily at 219-778-2585 today. Thank you!

Our March-Mini Camp Band played melodious music! The St. Paddy’s Day photo booth was a HIT!

IRISH BLESSINGMay the blessing of light be upon you,Light on the outside, Light on the inside.

With God’s sunlight shining on you, May your heart glow with warmth, Like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.

May the light of the Lord shine fromyour eyes,Like a candle in the window, Welcoming the weary traveler.

MEMORIALSMemorials are a special way

to honor the memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion for ourselves, our family, or our friends. We are grateful for all memorial donations, large and small, that we receive. We would like to remind you thank you letter and acknowledgement card policy. We do not send thank you letters and acknowledgement cards for any memorials received that are less than $10.00 donation per name. They will be printed in the "Good News Newsletter for the Other-Abled" but no cards or letters will be sent. Due to the increasing cost of paper, postage and time to send cards and letters, it is not good stewardship to spend the donations you have entrusted to us to fill mailboxes with mail.

Memorial donations of$10.00 or more per name will continue to receive thank you letters, acknowledgement to the familes and listing in the newsletter. If you do not require a thank you letter, please mark the envelope so that we can code your account, save the cost of a letter, and use the funds for our programs for other abled people. We thank you for your understanding!
