Customer Scenario

Page 4: Forum for Creative Security Solutions

Problem Statement

1. St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY is looking for a cost effective scalable solution that will allow them to track and manage access to 273 patient room pass-through medication storage cabinets.

2. The solution shall provide the capability for future expansion with limited disruptions.

3. The storage cabinets need to be accessed by nursing staff from both public corridors and patient rooms.

4. Ideally, the solution will be managed by the Hospital’s Security Management System (SMS) and utilize the same physical security card credential as pedestrian doors. The solution shall also provide real time door status monitoring and an audit trail which is required for industry compliance.

Existing Solutions: GOOD – Stand alone electronic keys/cylinders that

provide an audit trail. BETTER – Tactile stand alone keypad locks. – Traditional hard wired networked access

control solutions with card readers and mini magnets or cabinet strikes.

BEST – ???
