The Offsiders play Australian, Irish and World folk for a wide range of occasions. Sensitive and subtle folk for restaurants, weddings and wineries. Carousing, comic, tragic, and popular folk for pubs and parties. Foot-tapping Aussie/Irish folk for dances and traditional Aussie bushdances.The music ranges from acoustic and popular music of recent decades including Crowded House (& Neil Finn), Van Morrison and Paul Kelly to more traditional folk in the style of Christy Moore, Redgum and Eric Bogle.We also perform many events where we are asked to feature traditional Irish folk songs like Wild Rover, Black Velvet Band and Whiskey in the Jar.For a pub or party show other styles, like rock, blues, soul and reggae are included. When the occasion demands such as, for a restaurant or wedding show, more lilting ballads and instrumental tunesets are presented.

The Offsiders have developed a range of fun folk dance nights for all kinds of occasions. The band has been playing rollicking, somewhat rough-and-ready style Aussie Bushdances for many years performing mainly a birthday parties, weddings and fundraising events. These bushdance shows are always well received partly because we can modify the programme to suit the skills and experience of the dancers. Many schools invite us back annually as they have a fun social event and raise funds for their school. Recently we have found demand for a more historically accurate and informative evening of Australian Colonial Settler folk dancing and we have developed a special evening aimed at this audience. The dances tend to be more sedate and a little more complicated but still very accessible for inexperienced dancers. We include more couple dances like military 2-step and simple waltzes and give some historical information about the history of South Australian settlement and how these folk dances were an important part of the social fabric of the time.
