The Desert Caballeros Western Museum will host during Gold Rush Week Patina master Erik Petersen at noon on Tuesday, February 10 in the Learning Center to talk more about the “Inspiration to Creation” exhibition currently on view in the main museum. And this time he’s bringing three of the artists with him to share their stories.

Come learn how John Coleman, Bill Nebeker, and Ken Rowe are inspired to create their bronzes, and how they work with Erik to bring them to completion. The artists’ personal histories have a major impact on their art. Bill Nebeker started his career working in a foundry before becoming a bronze sculptor. Ken Rowe was a taxidermist. All of the threads come together in the creation of these masterworks.

There will be tales from photographer Willie Petersen of how he and his cousin Erik created the exhibition photographs of the artists. This should be another entertaining and informative Tuesday Talk. Call 928.784.2272

The Chamber ended 2014 with 75 new members, answered over 11,000 telephone calls, 10,000 mail inquiries & saw 21,000 people through the visitor’s center. Our Facebook pages both chamber and tour-ism each saw over 80,000 vis-its, along with website visits at 149,000 chamber and 88,000 tourism. Facebook pages for special events enjoyed many followers and daily “Likes” posting of member and tourism information.

Additionally all of the spe-cial heritage events saw record breaking crowds and beauti-ful weather. Standing com-mittee meetings throughout the year included Education,

Tourism, Film, Transportation, Community Development, and special events. Chamber staff worked with tourism and hospitality partners to host travel writers who will include Wickenburg in future articles in a variety of publications nation-ally and in Arizona. Our many chamber publications, ad place-ments, radio & television adver-tising, travel shows, and new graphic/photography designs brought exposure to our com-munity as a great place to do business, visit, or retire. “Tip of the Stetson” to our members, board of directors, commit-tee’s, sponsors, and volunteers for your many contributions of time and talent.

Winter Advertising placed in the following publications Jan & Feb: Phoenix Magazine, Western Horseman, Valley Guide, Arizona Drive Guide, Western Horse Review, Phoenix Magazine City Guide, & West Valley Star. Chamber Staff worked with journalists who wrote stories about Wickenburg for several pub-lications. Titles included: Wickenburg Winter Riding Mecca, Wickenburg a Horse Lovers Desert Paradise, and Destination Wickenburg. Chamber Staff also took advantage of promotional opportunities two weeks before Super Bowl, by placing calendar and attraction information with the Glendale CVB and Westmarc Activity Calendar, along with photographs for their use.

Gearing up for Gold Rush Days, advertising is also placed in

newspapers locally and out of the area. Commercials made for radio and television, and interviews scheduled with media prior to the event. Our digital billboard creative ad drew comments, phone calls and gave us an opportunity to display our lifestyle image to passing motorists in Phoenix for three weeks during the busy sports calendar.
