Tax payers may contribute to all three, as long as they do not exceed their limit.

Community needs are met through a program where people can elect to give up to $400 per couple to the CAP office, Habitat for Humanity, or the New Life Pregnancy Center. They can make that election any time up to the end of the year (December 31) and take that same amount off their state tax bill when the re-turn is filed. Contact: Charlie Petersen, Executive Director – CAP Office (928) 684-7894 www.fsl.org

In the case of the public school, couples can take up to $400, give that money for a specific school or extra-curricular activity, and reduce the state tax payment in the same way. (The limit for singles is $200).

That payment may be made up until the date the tax return is filed on or be-fore April 15. Contact: Howard Carlson, Superintendent –WUSD (928) 668-5350, or visit http://wicken-burgschools.org

In the case of the private school tuition program, tax payers who are married, filing jointly can give up to $2,134 to a private school of their choice for scholarships and again take the money off the tax bill. Single taxpay-ers can give up to $1,067. The desig-nation can also be made up until the date the tax return is filed on or before April 15. Contact: Kevin Armstrong, Executive Director of WCA (928) 684-5916, or visit www.wickenburgchristi-anacademy.org/financialThe tax credits invest in the future of these programs with no extra expense to the taxpayer.

In an effort to connect employers and job seekers in the north-western part of the county, Maricopa County and the Town of Wickenburg have entered into a partnership. The county and Wickenburg will jointly fund a full-time profession-al from the county’s Workforce Development Division on site at the Wickenburg Public Library and Learning Center, 164 E. Apache St. The job developer will link job seekers, private busi-nesses and other employers in the Wickenburg area, as well as provide adult and youth program-ming within the Town Library.“This is an exciting opportuni-ty to provide greater economic access to the growing northwest part of the county,” explained Supervisor Clint Hickman. “I am elated that Mayor John Cook and his administration were so willing to collaborate with us to expand our reach and extend our employment services. I am certain that this will help to boost the economy there.”This position will offer classes and workshops to assist adults in resume writing, interviewing techniques, on-site employer

recruiting and other critical ser-vices, as well as serve as case manager for job seekers.“This new initiative supports Wickenburg’s major employ-ers by building a strong local workforce, and the addition of another staff person will enable us to provide highly requested Saturday hours at the library,” commented Mayor Cook. “I am excited by the opportunities this partnership presents and appre-ciative of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, in particu-lar the leadership of District 4 Supervisor Clint Hickman.”Both the Wickenburg Town Council and the County Board of Supervisors have approved the intergovernmental agreement creating the position, financed through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.“This partnership will bolster opportunities for local peo-ple and expand company foot-prints in the region,” explained Patricia Wallace, director of the Workforce Development Division of the Maricopa County Human Services Department. “Wickenburg is a great place to live, work and play.”
