– knowledge of the techniques and expressive and design languages in fashion;– ability to recognise and interpret trends in contemporary fashion;– conceptual and design grounding developed in workshop activity that simulates professional experience combined with specific creative and design ability, from the invention of connections and solutions developed within applicationrelated activity and with an industrial basis;– acquisition of theoretical knowledge and familiarity with methodological, historical and critical tools that are used in relation to the relevant professional context and in relation to design activity, from the phase of conception to creation, execution, communication and consumption;– acquisition of basic theoretical IT knowledge and practice relating applied to the subjects covered by the programme.

Professional profileAt the end of the programme, graduates may work on a self-employed basis or as employees within companies, design studios, creative industries, specialist publishing, manufacturing companies in the fashion and art industry, public or private institutions, such as museums, galleries, video and multimedia centres or documentation and archive centres. In terms of the fashion design sector, the programme trains a professional designer that can work within style offices and advertising, commercial and cultural fashion contexts, with various roles:– collaboration on the artistic direction of a fashion brand;– member of the collection design and development team;– collaboration on planning the collection;– assistant in designing product displays in visual

concerning clothing, accessory design and tailoring techniques, along with historical and critical courses such as social and anthropological sciences and communication. During the undergraduate degree programme, through experience in design, pattern making and planning and study and research into materials, students will create their own collection. In the workshops, students work under the guidance of professional designers working in the fashion industry, chosen from the most qualified at a national and international level. Students have access to fully-equipped IT, photography, pattern making and prototyping labs. The international composition of the faculty and the experimental dimension of the workshops promote contact with an open and multifaceted cultural environment, crucial for the development of a young designer. The results of the courses have an excellent opportunity for visibility at the end-of-year fashion show and exhibitions. The compulsory internship of 400 hours within a production and service company, in Italy or abroad, also has a decisive effect on student education. These enterprises are often involved in the teaching process, through special projects. The final exam consists of an individual design project with original aspects accompanied by a written paper. The final paper can also be a piece that tackles theoretical aspects of fashion design in an original way. In either case, a supervisor is required, who will act as a tutor, with whom to choose and verify both the topic and the progress of the project.

Skills developed by graduates– knowledge of design, history and criticism in the fashion design sector;
