Victorious, Bible Story: The Fall of Jericho! Joshua 5, 6

Now when

Joshua was near

Jericho, he

looked up and

saw a man standing in front of

him with a

drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to

him and asked, “Are you for us or for our

enemies?”

“Neither,” he replied, “but as

commander of the army of the Lord I have

now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to

the ground in reverence, and asked him,

“What message does my Lord have for his

servant?”

The commander of the Lord’s army

replied, “Take off your sandals, for the

place where you are standing is holy.” And

Joshua did so.

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because

of the Israelites. No one went out and no one

came in.

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I

have delivered Jericho into your hands,

along with its king and its fighting men.

March around the city once with all the

armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven

priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in

front of the ark. On the seventh day, march

around the city seven times, with the priests

blowing the trumpets. When you hear them

sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all

the people give a loud shout, then the wall of

the city will collapse…”

And it did! They took the city

and devoted it to the Lord!

Editor: In the June Faith Messenger, an

article regarding mission trips by Donna

Schillinger was entitled, “Is It Worth It?”

The following article will describe the

upcoming mission trip to Peru, its

purpose and worth.

Donna, Outreach Coordinator

For Christian Triumph

On October 27th

, Vicenta Merida

and Donna will be going to Peru with a

small group. Vicenta is the sister of Pastor

Israel Hernandez, president of Christian

Triumph Company.

She is also a pastor and the

manager of the Christian Triumph Bible

correspondence courses in Spanish which

are sent to hundreds of people who desire

to be more fully used of God in their

Spanish-speaking countries.

Donna and Vicenta, along with

Jeanene of Clarksville, Arkansas, and

Kattia, Church of God missionary in

Bolivia, will present a one-day seminar

called “Women with Purpose.”

There will be three sessions in

Chota, Bambamarca and Cajamarca,

Peru, respectively on October 30 to

November 1.

Please pray for this effort as they

explore with the participants these topics:

Can you know your purpose, and if it’s possible, how do you discover it? Applying your spiritual gifts to your purpose. Daily practices of a woman of purpose. Victory over the enemy’s attack on your purpose.

After the women’s seminar, the

group will kick off a second phase in the

construction of the multipurpose church

building in Cajamarca, Peru. The

proposed three-story building will serve

as a local church, a conference and

training facility for leadership

development in regional evangelical

churches and a polyclinic to receive

medical missions from within Peru as well

as foreign medical missions.

Please - prayerfully consider

making a designated donation toward

materials for the construction of this

church building. Contributions can be

sent to Christian Triumph Company,

with the words “Peru church

construction” written in the memo.

Page 4: Faith Messenger Oct 2014

4

Please pray for the safety and

effectiveness of the group as they will also

be participating in door-to-door

evangelism and visiting some local

churches. Thank you for your prayers for

our past trips to Peru. God has answered

them, and they have been effective and

greatly appreciated!

This trip to Peru is very much

“worth it.”

To our Readers and Faithful Friends

from Vicenta Merida, Missionary with

Christian Triumph:

So far, we have had a

nice year with God helping us.

Thankfully, again, we

have a good group of students for the

Bible classes at the local Christian

Triumph Church.

With God’s help, the construction

on the new building is already very

advanced, and we will be glad to have the

new church this year in which to worship.

God is supplying the needs, but we ask for

your prayers as we move forward in the

distribution of literature and

correspondence courses. Many who

request the materials and courses write

such beautiful letters, encouraging our

efforts in the Lord. We appreciate any

help or prayers because God always hears

His children. James 5 promises this.

Thanks to God for allowing me to

travel to Mexico and present some lessons

in the two churches located in Michoacan.

There were troubles at first for many

problems have developed in Mexico. But

despite my age and health, everything

went great.

In the lessons, each session lasted

about 3 ½ hours, and I was very tired

afterwards, but God gave me the victory

in every church. There was a good group

of people very interested in the subject

which was “The Apocalyptic Woman”

found in Revelation 12.

The most beautiful thing that

happened which compensated for any

negative happenings was that Rosi, a

friend of my husband’s for over 10 years,

was saved at that meeting. Her face was

glowing, and my heart cried and rejoiced

to see it, because the Lord touched her.

God rewarded us in that place.

Please pray for the shepherds of

God’s Word in Mexico; these dear ones

are being attacked and persecuted. God’s

Word says “to live is Christ and to die is

gain,” but let us pray there will be no

suffering for families and also pray for

the salvation of the people.

Thanks to God for Donna

Schillinger, who has visited several places

in Peru, Brazil, India, etc. She feels called

to do this like her Grandmother, Evelyn

Anderson, the daughter of the founders of

Christian Triumph, Brother and Sister

L.Y. Janes. Evelyn is now rejoicing with

God. Please pray for Donna and family.

May God continue to use us, according to

His will.

Spiritual Gifts: There are different kinds

of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are

different kinds of service, but the same

Lord. There are different kinds of working

but the same God works all of them in all

[persons]… the body is a unit, though it is

made up of many parts, and though all its

parts are many, they form one body. So it is

with Christ. For we were all baptized by

Page 5: Faith Messenger Oct 2014

5

one Spirit into one body – …and now I will

show you the most excellent way…if I give

all…but have not love, I gain nothing. I Cor.12.13 NIV

Thanks - to two dedicated sisters from

Nebraska who helped build this church!

They are now celebrating their eternal life!

In the construction of this new church

for Christian Triumph, let these sacred

words be forever cherished: For no one can

lay any foundation other than the one

already laid, which is Jesus Christ. I Co. 3:11NIV

Just as the old buildings were founded on

His Name, so shall be the new one!

Thanks to God, the Creator of All, for

entrusting Brother, Sister Janes and family,

many years ago, with this anointed calling to

spread His Word.

And thanks to you! They could never

have accomplished this without - you - our

faithful friends, who have been a part of this

vast literature and local ministry which

reaches out to many countries.

Even as we have witnessed the

deterioration of the old buildings at

Christian Triumph, God’s Spirit continually

reminded us of all the precious Saints, now

and of yesterday, who give and gave of

themselves, from their own provisions, to

help this foreign and local ministry spread

the Good News. With caring, generous

hearts, many sacrificed (and still do) their

own needs and desires to help send tracts,

books, Bibles, periodicals, Bible Courses,

etc. which bring to others the message of

this scripture: Christ did “suffer and rise

from the dead on the third day, and

repentance and forgiveness of sins [has

been and will continue to be] preached in

his name to all nations.” Luke 24:46, 47 NIV

Every single day, countless

individuals need a healing of the soul and

heart (a new birth into the spiritual Kingdom

of God). There is no more important calling

or purpose than to share these words of

Jesus, spoken about Himself:

…the Son of Man must be lifted up, that

everyone who believes in him may have

eternal life. For God so loved the world

that he gave his one and only Son, that

whoever believes in him shall not perish

but have eternal life. John 3:15, 16

Those precious Saints of yesterday who

helped others may even now be celebrating

God’s eternal love with persons who read

and accepted His invitation from a tract, a

used Bible, used Sunday school materials, or

other literature.

There is not anything more valuable

than the heart (spirit) of men, women, boys,

and girls. And as God’s Word reaches out to

them in South America and other countries,

it is with God’s love, this message is sent:

…return to ME with all your heart…return

Page 6: Faith Messenger Oct 2014

to the Lord your God, for HE is gracious and compassionate. Joel 2 (OT) NIV

SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;

Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty

In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,

Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever,

Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder why I so calmly

Trod the valley of the shade?

Oh, But Jesus’ love illumined

Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me

In that way so hard to tread;

And with Jesus arm to lean on,

Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,

For I love you dearly still;

Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,

Pray to trust our Father’s will.

There is work still waiting for you,

So you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth-

You shall rest in Jesus’s land.

What that work is all completed,

He will gently call you Home;

Oh, the rapture of that meeting,

Oh, the joy to see you come! (Used with Feddie Moore’s permission)

REST IN THE LORD A Word of Witness by the Editor

God’s love is peaceful! It is without limit;

no one or nothing could ever change the

love of God!

In Zephaniah, we read words of praise as

the author foretells of the Messiah who

will bring hope and help to all who will

receive Him. Jesus fulfilled that

prophecy!

Many of us have rejoiced in the words

found in Zephaniah 3: The Lord has

taken away your punishment, he has

turned back your enemy. The Lord, the

King of Israel, is with you; never again will

you fear any harm.

The Lord your God is with you, he is

mighty to save. He will take great delight in

you, he will quiet you with his love, he will

rejoice over you with singing.

As a sinner, needing the grace of God, I

too experienced His mercy and cleansing,

and, in time, His healing and renewal.

God is patient; He will help us and then

we will discover His kindness as we

rejoice in this promise: …for he has

clothed me with garments of salvation and

arrayed me in a robe of

righteousness…Isaiah 61:10 NIV

As we lean upon our Lord for support

and strength, we become more like Him

and are… transformed into his likeness

Page 8: Faith Messenger Oct 2014

with ever-increasing glory, which comes

from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Cor 3:18 NIV

Be encouraged! Be blessed!

THANK YOU! We appreciate our readers!
