JOY The angel’s message to the shepherds continues to ring in our hearts even after Christmas: Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord… Does the birth of Jesus, so many years ago, still mean it is possible to have Great Joy in 2014? The daily news informs us of so much pain and confusion in our world! Is this “Joy” applicable to our daily lives? Words describing Joy are: delight, happiness, pleasure, bliss. These emotions may occur as a reaction to wonderful human experiences such as an incredible Christmas gift, getting a raise at work, or even taking a long vacation, but none of these last forever. The Great Joy the angel spoke of is eternal and can be experienced only through a personal relationship with God. Jesus came to earth to show us God’s love, pay the penalty for our wrongdoings, and tell us about our Heavenly Home. Yet, life is confusing. One of the most puzzling times in my life was when I came home from a mission trip and promptly broke my leg in one place and both ankles in numerous areas. Suddenly, living seemed very uncertain. Where was the joy? In time, I found that allowing God the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide brought answers and assurance that the joy of the Lord is our strength. As I reached out for Him, life became stable again, even though not the same; I was unable to walk for two months. Nehemiah 8:10b In all things, we have “hope” for our Creator invites us to rest from doubt and depend upon Him for the Gifts of Peace and Joy. The Word of God promises that Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for [us]. JOY

The angel’s message to the shepherds continues to ring in our hearts even after Christmas: Do not be

afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all

the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to

you; He is Christ the Lord… Does the birth of Jesus, so many years

ago, still mean it is possible to have Great Joy in 2014? The daily news informs us of so much pain and confusion in our world! Is this “Joy” applicable to our daily lives?

Words describing Joy are: delight, happiness, pleasure, bliss. These emotions may occur as a reaction to wonderful human experiences such as an incredible Christmas gift, getting a raise at work, or even taking a long vacation, but none of these last forever. The Great Joy the angel

spoke of is eternal and can be experienced only through a personal relationship with God.

Nehemiah 8:10b

In all things, we have “hope” for our Creator invites us to rest from doubt and depend upon Him for the Gifts of Peace and Joy. The Word of God promises that Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for [us]. Heb.7

And…in not being able to walk, I spent several weeks with my Dad at his home, and the days were so comforting to us both. (We had also just lost my Mother.) The angel’s message to not fear but rejoice in the Good News of Christ, our Savior, is still absolutely relevant in 2014. Editor

Behold, I make all things new. Rev. 21:5.

This scripture is God's declaration as He unfolds the new heaven and the new earth, but in our brief lifetimes, He is ever and always fulfilling this promise, in each breath, day and new year. May 2014 renew your spirit and energies for fulfilling His purpose in your life. Donna Schillinger and Family

Happy New Year!Happy New Year!Happy New Year!Happy New Year! Anita and Gerald

The New Year is before us. During this beginning, what a wonderful time to plan ahead! Included in planning is the privilege of seeking direction from the One who knows the future. The Titles of Jesus are “Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace". There is no greater Director than our Heavenly Father. He welcomes us to come to Him! Isaiah 9:6b. Jesus said: "I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life". John 8:12b. What a blessing to know that the Saviour who was sent to redeem us, still LIVES and welcomes us to seek and find Him as our personal Savior! Because He lives, we can face tomorrow! Make this a Happy New Year by following the Christ who offers what we need.

Church of God, Cajamarca Peru in the Works Again

By Donna Lee Schillinger

The construction continues on the Church of God in Cajamarca, Peru. Christian Triumph contributed support to a mission team that went to Peru in 2009 to begin the construction of the planned three-story building which will serve as a church, missionary training center and regional center for the evangelical churches in that area. For lack of funds, after that initial push, the building remained without proper flooring or ceiling, but nonetheless, is used several times each week for worship and Bible study. After a successful campaign to raise funds among all the Churches of God in Peru, plus some generous donations from several here stateside, the construction on the second floor of the church has officially begun. The first floor remains without proper flooring, but when finished, worship will take place in the second story, which will

have a proper floor (which is also the ceiling of the first story). Pastor Narciso Zamora reports that recently 22 Christian brothers from around the region arrived on scene to help with the construction. They purchased a sheep and one of the men butchered it and Sister Udelia Zamora, with two helpers besides, prepared the food for all the workers. Pastor Zamora coordinated the effort, zipping around town to bring in any needed supplies so that workers wouldn’t stand idle. After this great effort, they began training classes offered by seminary professor and son of the Zamoras, Gerson Zamora. “The workers were all beat up from the day of labor, but we had classes for three days and then on Saturday we had a regional pastors’ meeting to evaluate the work of this year and assign responsibilities to each person for the planting of new churches,” says Pastor Narciso. “I think that within the next 18 months, I may have to relocate to Chachapoyas, about 13 hours from Cajamarca, to start new churches in that region. There are hundreds of towns without any churches and we really need to prepare people to plant churches in those areas. This center in Cajamarca is going to be very important for use in training and conferences to prepare more people for missions and church planting.”

Praying with Scripture

For the Year 2014 The Ozark Hills are covered with snow this Sunday morning. I just finished reading Max Lucado’s book: A Heart like Jesus. As I thought of that title, I asked, Lord, how do I get a heart like Jesus? Is it in keeping Christ alive and well by nurturing that life within? Scriptures that have spoken to me in the past come to mind. One of these is the prayer of Jabez in I Chronicles 4:9 NKJ. Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain. If we are to keep Christ alive, we must feel blessed by Him. This is a wonderful scripture to use when praying. This morning I talked to the Lord about pain that I have caused by taking my own way. My rebellion never stops with just me; it goes on, affecting those I love, even hurting them. The more I talked to the Lord regarding the prayer of Jabez, the more I realized how He can help me to reach out to others with problems like my own. Then I told the Lord that I understood – to be effective, I must have a heart like Him. After I had prayed using I Chronicles, my thoughts changed to

Stephen, and I turned to Acts, Chapters 6 and 7. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. (Acts 6:8) When I read that, I saw that the Lord was expanding Stephen’s territory, just as Jabez had prayed that God would do for him. Although some men began to argue with Stephen, Verse 10 in Acts 6, tells us they were not able to resist the wisdom and spirit by which he spoke. Verse 15: And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. In Acts 7, Stephen gives them the history of the Israelites and preaches a beautiful sermon. When he was finished, Verse 54 says, they were cut to the heart and they gnashed on him with their teeth. (I pause again to pray and ask the Lord to help me to always accept the truth of His word, no matter how painful it may be.) It is wonderful to know that God was there for Stephen. He saw the heavens open and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. (Acts 7:55)

When they stoned Stephen, the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of Saul. They continued to stone Stephen while he was saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. (Acts 7:59) Then with a heart like Jesus, full of forgiveness and love, he said, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And with perfect peace, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:60) Page 5

Oh, Wow! I paused again to pray with this scripture and was able to completely forgive some of the things that happened to me in my childhood and teen years. Acts 7:54-60 has helped me to see more and more the importance of really knowing Christ. Some of the things the Lord has shown me from His word and other books that I have read have also helped in my praying with scripture in my walk with the Lord as I looked closely at Stephen’s life and death. He was up against a mob full of hatred, yet he portrayed a life full of the Holy Spirit. The mob was intent on murder; Stephen just wanted to forgive. While he faced the anger of the mob, he called on God. They left in rage; he died in Peace. Was his death in vain? No, No! In the back of my Bible, I have a quote by St. Augustine: The Church owes Paul to the prayer of Stephen. As we begin the New Year, please join me in praying with scripture; it has changed my life! By Melissa Ann Bell Author of White Collar Skid Row And Speaker (All scriptures except I Chronicles 4:9 are from the King James Version.)

Sweet Spirit of God:

Thou giver of joy and peace, compliment us with

your precious presence.

Delight us with energetic gladness. Sweep out

the sadness that has stayed too long.

Allow hope to find entrance, where defeat has

staked its claim.

Kind Usher: Help kindness to find warm

assurance where it has been eroded by harshness.

Stimulate within us a sense of genuine

expectancy.

Enable us to take the 24 golden nuggets of each

day and create meaningful memories.

Let the thrill of victory ring out unto all we

touch.

Thank you for giving us freedom to sing songs

of praise to you, Our God!!!!

For Thou are worthy!!!

“REJOICE EVERMORE” I Thessalonians 5:16 (KJV)

We can easily find reasons enough for sorrow,

Without having from others more to borrow.

But we are admonished to “rejoice evermore;”(a)

As we worship the glorious Lord we adore.

The Psalmist said, “Let the heavens rejoice.”(b)

So angels in heaven, with joy lift your voice!

We're also exhorted, “Let the whole earth be

glad!”(b)

For those who know God, there’s no cause to be

sad!

An Apostle wrote for us to “Rejoice in hope,”(c)

For God will give his children the ability to cope.

There’s reason for those who trust in him to rejoice.

So trusting in the Lord will always be my choice.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; Again I say rejoice.”(e)

Paul urges us; “with great joy, to lift up our voice.”

“Lord, I will rejoice in your unfailing mercy,

For you did not forget me in my adversity.”(f)

2013 ends a year of challenges for Christian Triumph, but for those of us who believe in the Word of God as well as sending it to persons in the U.S.A. and other nations, there remains an assurance that God will supply all our needs, personally and collectively, whatever they are. We remember that the founders, Rev. Janes and his wife, Una, worked until they simply could work no more. Brother Janes’ age was over 100. His daughter, Evelyn, has done the same. She is nearing the 100 mark also in the near future and has only stepped back because of health reasons. For those of us who love them as well as love God our Father and have a similar vision of spreading the Eternal Words of rebirth in Jesus Christ, it is our desire to continue on as long as God allows. Our focus remains on each individual created by God who will, one day, meet his or her Creator. We realize that life on Earth is perplexing, at times, and can result in regret. Yet, the Good News is - Jesus Cares! This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. I John 4:10. Even if we make mistakes and follow the wrong paths, God will forgive and restore our fellowship with Him. This message of redemption is

the most important news in 2014 - because it is an eternal promise for life everlasting in that Home called Heaven. Therefore, we at Christian Triumph, march on… as soldiers in the army of God. Pg 7

I AM A SOLDIER

I am a soldier in the army of my God, The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, Prayer, and the Word are my weapons of Warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, …trained by experience, …tried by adversity, …and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity. I will either retire in this Army or die in this Army; But I will not get out, …sell out …be talked out …or be pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable. If my God needs me, I am there. I am a soldier. I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, …petted, …primed up, …pumped up, …picked up, …or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, …remind me, …write me, …visit me, …entice me, …or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, …saluting my King, …obeying His orders,

…praising His name, …and building His Kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy, or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to. I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me into this Army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out even. I will win. My God will supply all my needs. I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ. Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me, and Hell cannot handle me! I am a soldier. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my Commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me to a captain. I am a soldier in the Army; I’m marching, claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around. I am a soldier, marching, Heaven bound. (Thanks to David Langerfeld for permission to print.)
