in their Father's kingdom. Let the person

who has ears listen!

My wife and I were very blessed to

travel through the Great Smoky

Mountains at the peak of color. What a

sight to behold! When we were standing

at the top, the sun was shining clear and

we could see for miles. We could see the

hills, the valleys, and the smoke that

covered some of the mountains.

We just stood and gazed - although

this was not the prettiest sight that we had

seen - simply because, now, the sun was so

bright. In fact, some of the colors almost

appeared faded with all that magnificent

light.

What I loved the most about the

sights was - coming up the mountain.

First, we would go through the valley -

while the sun was high in the sky - but,

yet, the only way the sun could be seen

was when it showed through the leaves,

the very brilliant-colored leaves, with not

even two alike. Beautiful!

As I contemplated this scene and

thought of God, I felt that we also display

God’s hand in our lives when He is

showing through us. When we are

exposed to His Full Light, we may look

dull and dry, not always worth looking at.

But when we look at people and ourselves

through the Holy Light of God’s Grace,

what a beautiful sight!

Interestingly, those Great Smoky

Mountain leaves (by

themselves) were

misshapen; in fact, they had

holes and broken pieces. Their colors

were not consistent and they were close to

dying and falling off the trees.

Yet, there were millions and

millions of leaves on the trees and on the

ground, and as the Sunlight shone

through them, their beauty could never be

captured to the fullest by any artist. How

much we are also like them when filtered

with God’s Son-light.

One of the things that I love in life

is being around large amounts of leaves.

Also, I have met great numbers of people

from all around the world, persons from

numerous ethnic groups and skin types as

well as a variety of languages, while being

both rich or in poverty. I have been with

those who had beautiful white or gray

hair or no hair at all, and I have

witnessed God’s Glory round about them.

I have heard them sing off key, heard

voices that were so broken, weak and

frail, and, yet, I could not help but cry

because of the Glory of God within their

spirits. Even though some had bodies so

disabled that there were no movements,

the Presence of God was amazingly

powerful!

I have watched Saints go on to

Glory while the family sang Amazing

Grace. In fact, when my own

Grandmother died in the hospital with 5

brain tumors, I personally wanted to

shout Glory because her last words, that I

heard, were Jesus Sweet Jesus. When we allow the Son to shine

through us instead of just on us, what a

difference it will make! If God shines just on me, I am naked and undone, but

through me, I am His workmanship

brilliantly colored by His Amazing Grace.
