PREAMBLE

FAD Programm engl1.cdr 10.08.2010 Seite 2

Dear Sir or Madam,

This year the 8 FAD-conference

will be organised. On 3 and 4 November 2010 we will discusswith representatives of the industry, research and

legislation the new aims and the resulting challenges for the exhaustaftertreatment for diesel engines in the range of passenger vehiclesup to marine vessels.

Compared to previous time spans the diesel engine improved inrespect to power density, consumption and especially pollutantemissions . Now theseadvantages have to be further strengthened and developed. Onlythen its attractiveness as drive will remain.

This year’s conference sessions were chosen according to thecurrent problems and future challenges in the development ofexhaust aftertreatment technologies for diesel engines. Theconference will deal with solutions for the next emission standard fordiesel engines as well as current and coming retrofit strategies.Furthermore, the focus of research and development as well as theimpact of biofuels on the exhaust aftertreatment will be criticallyanalysed.

Besides the presentations and the parallel technical exhibitionvarious possibilities for the exchange of experiences and ideas willbe provided.

I am delighted to present you this technical and interestingprogramme and hope to see you in Dresden
