“We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Bundjalung people who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of

the Land on which our school stands.”

5-6 have been working on their Aquaponics Program. It’s a great program where the students are involved in hands on activities

with teachers from the STEM Academy who specialise in Science. Activities so far have included using celery and flowers to see how water travels through a stem using coloured food dye. If you look closely at the picture you can see that the celery

leaves have changed colour! The class has also designed various grow beds that will be used for the aquaponic set up in the

classroom!

As you are aware, The Premier announced that Lismore Local government areas have had community transmission of COVID 19 and stay-at-home restrictions would be introduced from yesterday until Tuesday, 17

August.

There will be minimal supervision at school for those students who cannot be educated at home, for example, if their parent or carer is an essential worker.

All students and families will be supported with learning from home materials and resources.

If you are working from home and your child is able to be educated from home, please continue to keep them at home.

I want to thank all of our families for your support during this time. Please get in touch with the school to arrange to speak to your child’s teacher to discuss any additional needs for your child or family to support you to learn from home.

Thank you for your support.

The students at APPS thoroughly enjoyed their day at the Mini Olympics last

Thursday! All students got the opportunity to compete in a variety of modified

sports to win medals for their countries.

All students had such an amazing time competing in events including pool

noodle fencing, handball, running races, basketball, table tennis and rhythmic

gymnastics. They all worked together to gain medals for their country and

supported each other by dressing up in country colours and cheering for their

teammates. The staff and students were treated to a special rhythmic

performance by Mr Darby who is a sure candidate for the 2024 Olympics in Paris!

A special thank you to Mr Davies and Meegan for creating such a fun day for

our school!

Year 1 sharing some of their wonderful work with Mrs Smedley. Last week Mrs Sipple received this feedback from

Lismore High School regarding the video entry that the MC

Class had created for the Green Innovation Awards earlier

this year. “ Just wanted to let you know that my 8Geo 1

watched the video yesterday - they were impressed with the

Albert Park thinking. They liked the proposed solution and

thought their video was well done. They thought they

demonstrated good team work. Please pass on that they

impressed a group of Yr 8 kids.”
