“We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Bundjalung people who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of the Land on which our school stands.”

Science Week This year for Science Week all classes enjoyed a range of activities relating to the theme ‘Deep Blue: innovation for the future of our oceans’. K Yellow made and created waves. 1-2 Blue designed and created an ocean habitat and 2-3 Purple learned about the layers of the ocean. 3-4 Red designed and made sailing boats. 5-6 Green invented a device to measure ocean temperatures or scoop up plastic in the ocean. BE SAFE.

SASS Appreciation Week Our school administrative and support staff (or SASS) are our

very own essential workers. Our office staff, school learning and support officers, general assistant and cleaners work tirelessly to ensure all students are supported and have all their needs met. This week we celebrate SASS Appreciation Week and acknowledge all their wonderful work! Thank you Lorraine, Leah, April, Ian, Shayne, Ben, Gay-le, Meagan, Glen, Karl and Rebecca.

Dear Parents and Carers, Our next School Plan will be referred to as a School Improvement Plan (SIP) with student growth and achievement at the centre of decision making. The school is undertaking a thorough analysis of a wide range of data which includes feedback from students and parents/carers. The development of our School Improvement Plan will be a collaborative process. We are currently gathering information about:

1. Where are we now?

2. Where do we want to be in four years?

3. How will we get there?

We will be looking at our evidence which includes academic progress, attendance, wellbeing, enrolments, staffing, finance, special programs and links with community. The information will provide the foundation for our four year plan.

Parent and Carer webinar – eSafety Social media and gaming is a huge part of life today but they come with dangers and social issues. This is a free webinar for parents and carers about the popular apps and games that children are using nowadays. These issues are becoming more prevalent in our society, and our school community, so I implore you to make time to log on to one of these webinars if your children use any of these apps. Webinar - eSafety’s parent guide to popular apps, taking a look at TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube. Join the eSafety Commissioner’s expert education and training team for this live webinar (no cost), that focuses on popular apps used by young people. It will include case studies, research, and targeted advice so you can support the young people in your life to have safe, enjoyable online experiences. Webinars are available –

Tuesday, 8 September 12:30 pm Wednesday, 9 September 7:30 pm Thursday, 10 September 12:30 pm

Reminder - Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parents are still not able to come on to school grounds. Please ensure you ring the office if you need to pick up your child early and they will be brought down to you. Sickness – COVID-19 testing I know these are hard and trying times for many parents with winter being the prime time for sickness especially colds and flu. If your child is unwell or has flu-like symptoms they should be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics. Students are to remain at home until the results are known and the school is to be sent a copy of the negative result. Please do not send children back to school without us sighting the results or while even the mildest symptoms are still present. If students present with any flu like symptoms, schools have been directed to make arrangement for those children to be sent home.

Canberra Excursion Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and the restrictions the department has to abide by for the safety of all, the excursion to Canberra has had to be cancelled. We are all very disappointed that it cannot go ahead and the office will be in
