Innovative solutions for modern businesses

• Learners can go at their own pace, not at the pace of
the slowest in the group
• Often, time is spent on questions or topics introduced
by other delegates, unrelated to the learners needs
• It takes less time to start and wind up a learning session
• Less travel time to and from the event
• Learners can skip elements of a programme that are
not relevant to their needs
• Some concepts are explained more easily and quickly
using computer based instruction than would tradi-
tionally be done in a classroom
• The presentation of content in online material tends to
be more concise than classroom delivery. Content is
edited and honed down to the minimum necessary,
whereas face to face delivery is inevitably more verbose
The value of e-Learning
Most reports show these factors can add up to an average saving of 35-45% on learners time when a course is delivered as e-
learning. The performance of an organisation is dependent on its intellectual capital; the skills, knowledge and experience of
its workforce. Maintaining and improving this performance creates a major challenge that eStudy Academy portal can support.
• British Telecom delivered e-business training to 23,000
employees in three months, at a cost of £5.9 million,
compared to £17.8 million and a five-year time span for
classroom training (Taylor, 2002).
• A nine-year survey of the research literature in training,
commissioned by the American Psychological Society,
and published in 2000, concluded that: ‘Learners learn
more using computer-based instruction than they do
with conventional ways of teaching, as measured by
higher post-treatment test scores.’
• Specific studies from Fletcher (1999), Kulik (1994),
Willett, Yamashita & Anderson (1983) all confirm that
learners learn more using computer-based instruction
than they do through traditional classroom methods.
• When reviewing e-learning as an educational ap-
proach, Brandon Hall (2001) noted there were learning
gains in: scores on tests, certifications or other evalua-
tions; the number of learners passing exams; the abil-
ity to apply new knowledge; and, long-term retention
of information gained from the e-learning.
At a time when change is faster than ever, a key advantage of e-learning is that it has faster delivery times than traditional class-
room-based instruction. There is a practical limitation on how fast learning can be rolled out with classroom-based instruction.
There are many documented case studies which show people generally learn faster through interactive learning. These
studies suggest that learning compression is achieved because:
The emergence of mobile devices and the social web has added a new dimension to the e-learning experience. Employees are
used to instant access; the idea of waiting weeks or months no longer meets their expectations and causes frustration.

Learning focused training deliveryThe student portal is focused on delivering the ideal user experience. The delegate can control every aspect of their training,
from progress monitoring to scheduling final exams. In the student portal a delegate will find everything they need to enhance
their learning experience, including the support centre where an expert mentor is just a message away. Key features include:
INTERACTIVE LEARNING
Every course has been carefully designed with the right
amount of interaction to promote learning. Our course de-
sign optimises interest and engagement whilst enhancing
and promoting maximum memory retention.
MODULE QUIZZES
Learning module objectives are reinforced with interactive
quizzes that enable the delegate to test their knowledge
and understanding throughout the course, which supports
a strong focus on development areas.
BUZZ EXERCISES
Buzz exercises are included in all foundational elements and
have been designed to promote concept capture through
simple and effective puzzles and games. Buzz exercises are
an ideal way to enhance knowledge retention.
MENTORED SUPPORT
With eStudy Academy a delegate is never studying alone.
At any time during their course, if a delegate has a question
or needs support on a difficult topic, an expert mentor is on
hand to help and give further explanation and support.
PRACTICE EXAMS
Whether preparing for the final exam, or just testing knowl-
edge, each course contains practice exams within the exam
simulator. The simulator enables candidates to practice ex-
ams and provides full answer rationales for each question.
FINAL EXAMS
When the delegate is ready, they can schedule an exam
through the eStudy Academy portal directly with APMG’s
proctor now service. The exam is taken at their chosen loca-
tino and at the candidates convenience.
The management module in eStudy Academy gives administrators full control and visibility over learner activity.

Full administration control
The fully integrated eStudy Academy
portal takes the stress out of learning
new subjects and passing exams.
Successful corporate e-learning is about more than just issuing and controlling the courses, it includes managing and monitor-
ing the progress of each delegate. The eStudy Academy managers portal solves these issues by giving the training manager a
simple and straight forward way to manage all aspects of the delegates training. Key features include:
BRANDING CONTROL
The eStudy Academy manager’s portal gives the training ad-
ministrator the ability to re-brand the look and feel of your
instance with colours and logos to suits your organisations
brand; all settings are global for all users.
ISSUING COURSES AND ADDING DELEGATES
Adding new delegates is easy and straight forward. Simply
click on new student, enter their details, choose the courses
they have access to and it’s done! The bulk upload utility
makes adding new groups quick and easy.
MONITORING DELEGATE PROGRESS
Delegate progress can be monitored from start to finish.
Administrators are able to see the exact stage delegates are
at for any course the delegate is enrolled on. This helps to
focus utilisation on unused licences.
MANAGING DELEGATE ACCOUNTS
The eStudy Academy managers portal makes it easy to man-
age delegate accounts. User management and licence man-
agement is made simple by a comprehensive set of manage-
ment utilities, including powerful bulk management tools.
ISSUING FINAL EXAMS
Administrators are able to review course results before issu-
ing exams to delegates. This allows costs to be controlled
and only generates an exam schedule when both the del-
egate and the organisation agree that the time is right.
MESSAGING AND NOTIFICATIONS
If a training manager needs to message individuals or a
group of delegates, they can do this directly from the eStudy
Academy managers portal, allowing audit-ability of course
management and without the need of an e-mail client.

TACT is Syzygal’s pro-prietary methodology for developing courses and courseware
As part of doctoral research,
Syzygal has developed a unique
approach to developing and de-
signing professional education
courses and courseware. Rather
than utilising tired and over-used
methods such as working straight
from a syllabus, Syzygal decided to
research the key elements of effec-
tive learning. What we found was
that although dynamic and flexible
delivery methods were essential to
the overall experience for students,
it was the approach to content for-
mulation and positioning that was
critical to maximising learning up-
take and knowledge retention.
The THEORY of a subject is obvi-
ously critical to success, but ensur-
ing it is positioned in contextual
alignment is the pay-off. We then
ensure students ABSORB the the-
ory by placing them in real-world
scenarios and role-plays, ensuring
the theory connects to practical
application. To support this we
CONSOLIDATE the learning by
using innovative games and ex-
ercises to further develop under-
standing and retention. Finally
we ensure TESTING takes place
throughout training events which
prepares the student to take their
formal certification.
