The Faculty of Engineering at Beirut Arab University organized the “Eighteenth Engineering Projects’ Day” at its campus in Debbieh on the 9th & 8th of May 2016

Color Catcher

Blind people can know the color by recognizing light position.

Ultrasound Stick

• The stick should stay with him all the time, it will be hard to find the stick if he lose it.

• It is not a new thing.• Do not provide protection from obstacles or

hanging objects such as branches of some trees that are in the top level of the blind

• Some of the visually impaired see that sticks serves as the stigma of distinctiveness that they have visual disabilities without the others

Adjustable Sink

Needs to be more aesthetic, though! not really stylish

The True Sight

• First, name should be changed it doesn’t represent its function

• It should have a sensor for the floor and optimized for stairs.

• This device has not been used a flaw in a crowded places.

• They also ignored the hand and when you move your hand in front of a sensor unintentionally or involuntarily, a tension to its owner.

WSAT

• It would be better to command using eye movement instead of tongue (Some severe cases of paralysis include disability to talk)

• If the Disabled has Orthodontics which is a hindrance to the work of the magnet.

Too Expensive, a normal elevator would do the job, although people may use the elevator instead of the stairs .

Communication with the deaf

• He can’t hold metal object or wear a ring for example, since it will affect the magnets and electronic devices in the glove.

• Limited commands the can be transformed into messages.• Idea isn’t practical (wearing a glove all day).

Comments on projects in general1. Most projects are already applied in the labor

market and are outdated due to advancement of existing products as a result of strong competition.

2. Second and first year students role was weak.3. Almost all projects are worked as a basic model

due to low budget, this could be solved by increasing cash prizes and bonus grades (up to +10) for top projects to increase competition.

4. The projects could also be presented as a new idea without necessarily any materials or model but with more detailed and specified work and outcome including market needs and profitability, etc….. The projects will be adapted by sponsors & engineering firms during engineering day and its work may be pursued.

Comments on University and Doctor’s role.1. The university should work on advertising and

hosting many TVs to report and popularize the event, and thus helping the participants spread their ideas wide.

2. The university and our dear Drs. and teachers take the biggest role in motivating students in order to innovate and come out with new ideas and participating in the Engineering Day .

3. NO LECTURES should be given during the day.4. Bad ideas shouldn’t be accepted in the

engineering day since it will decrease the overall value of the event.

Comments on the topic “ Enable not Disable”

The Topic was somehow limited to Civil Engineering field.We count on Industrial, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers to work and develop solutions for disabled people to improve their life quality and their effective role in the society,And Civil Engineers can do their best in designing structures and buildings that include facilities for Disabled.
