Need of the Hour..A paradigm shift in the mindset

Schools are largely Academically inclined-have their own compulsions /limitations ….The Physical Education / Sports coaching imparted is mostly Sport Specific;Sport Specific approach mostly tend to get centered towards those students who play well / perform well;Thus lacks equitable attention-resulting in reduced interest /participation…

Schools - the ideal Foundation Stone..are the right place for Physical Education & Sports exposure;..have the right age group critical numbers to make a play meaningful ;…fit to impart adequate age appropriate exposure to ‘Physical Education & Sports’ right from an early age ;This is not possible within the residential locality of a student due to multiple factors ;

‘Physical Education’ ..importance Importance of Curriculum Led

Structured PE & Sports Program: o which is developed with an

Ecosystem Competent & Compatible enough to be integrated with school’s system & environment ;

o addresses the key concern of Talent spotting & grooming…….

o Understand ,empathies & accordingly collaborate with Schools –to enable the Schools to meet its mission of holistic development of kids;

The World Health Organisation data reveals that more than 60 percent of the world’s population is not physically active enough to induce health benefits. The reason behind it seems to be the lifestyle choice.

Paradigm shift in a Teacher’s Role• The need is to educate the children holistically ;• This leads to make the curriculum inclusive i.e.; integration of

co-scholastic area in the curriculum;• To meet the above challenges schools started partnering with

service providers to tap their expertise in co-scholastic areas;• A teacher’s role is no longer restricted to

facilitate learning within classrooms;• In addition teacher has to ensure successful

implementation and mgmt of such programs;• In the emerged scenario, School Mgmt

expect a teacher to be decisive & Multi-tasking; which calls for teachers to be :-a team member ,a guide to stakeholders' ,- liaison with different service providers;- eventually to ensure that the objectives are achieved ;

challenges faced by 21st Century teachers• The changing role inside and outside of

classroom is resulting with the following newer challenges for the teachers ;

• Scholastic & Co-scholastic areas:– To effectively use contemporary aids &

tools to supplement the curriculum & assessment tools;

– Facilitating truly inclusive learning– i.e. Equitable attention to every child;

– Enable participative / interactive learning;

– Managing effective relationships with stakeholders (viz. Parents, teachers, colleagues, service providers);

Gap Analysis – Assessment of PE & Life Skills

• Qualified & trained human resources capable of delivering such curriculum;

• Comprehensive assessment tools ;

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT (Round the Yr)
